I've seen about 10 episodes of this and it's compere Ryan.
He's so nervous and is almost robotic at times and for some reason always appears to be acting and giving away bowls of cheap fruit and chocolates to the audience.
He's generally speaking about negatives like death and injustice or acting weird around groups for some reason. We have a comedy called Alan Partridge back home and he's like some kind of 2.0 of him but this guy is serious?!
For example,in one of the episodes he was interviewing Conan O'Brien by Skype!
A weird show and very very weak.
P.s. Do all of his guests always have a book to promote?

For context I'm 23, not 40-60 something, but even I have to admit its a great show. One of the few exclusively intellectual/variety talk shows left in the world (and actually one of the first as well), it really has been a pedestal of Irish discussion and commerce. Politics, law, entertainment, and life in general. One of the few hits for RTE. Ryan's Americanised take was definitely up for question at the beginning but really heightened the show's uniqueness in a country where everyone has the give for the gab.
The only criticisms I may have is an interesting stifling that emerges in the show, where maybe a pause here and there will arise, most commonly during audience participation segments in the show (but obviously this is due to shyness).

The show was literally steered by the late great Gay Byrne and since his demise it's become more and more apparent that it was his talent that gave the show any pathos.
There have been a couple of afforts to replace him but the latest incumbent is disastrous.
His name is Ryan Tubridy and he's basically robotic, literally talentless, uncharismatic, incapable of a one on one interview and appears to lack any interest in the person but more in his next question.
His preaching about racism (Ireland has about 3% non whites),sexism, incompetent health services, transport services, education, investment, housing but NEVER the government. Every pop group that guests the show is his favourite band He is an ex member of a government party and it shows. Theres always a dead kid, family loss, terminally ill person etc as the subject for the last 40 minutes It's ridiculous.
