When will American and British directors learn that there are decent, authentic Irish actors? The story of Daniel O'Connell needs to be told and so when I saw the film The Liberator, I watched it as soon as I was free. I was disappointed within the first few minutes when I realised that it was close to an all American cast, most of which didn't even attempt an Irish accent and those that did, failed miserably. It would have been much more powerful if they used Irish actors. Or at least used actors with the ability to act with an Irish accent. Perhaps they tried but as they brushed over the pain and misery of the great hunger, no Irish actors wanted to play any part in the movie? Maybe they thought that an American audience wouldn't be able to understand Irish accents? Well then get some actors to do an American English version to dub over the original if needed but just feel this film, this story would be so much better told by Irish people. Very disappointing.
It says on here that Season 2 came out in February 24 but came out in Ireland in March 23. The good thing about that is that Season 3 has already been filmed last summer, so I'm looking forward to seeing it. Maybe will be shown Christmas time? Who knows?
It's about a fictitious crime family in Dublin, the Kinsella's. Their business..... drugs. All the greed and violence that comes with it. Not only do they have to watch out fir rival drug gangs, even on an international scale but plenty of backstabbing and disloyalty amongst the family itself.
Good to watch and makes you want to binge watch it. Not that the bbc finally have it means it's available for free on iPlayer.
I was gutted when I saw them advertising a "new" series as I'd already seen season 2 but glad there's a 3rd series at least and looking forward to seeing it and maybe more.

I'm a big fan of Julie Walters. Don't make the same mistake as I did and watch this film. An attempt at comedy that didn't come close to making me laugh once. Very disappointing.
I gave this 3/10. I only rated it so highly cos I fancy Yasmine Akram.
Great idea for a story and was immediately interested but from when I first watched the trailer, I thought, why oh why do they hire English actors to play Ulstermen? Plenty of good Irish actors out there and Luke Treadaway just isn't up to it. Perhaps those with little Irish contact will not notice but it disappointed me from the start.
Apart from that it was quite entertaining and a glimpse into the start of snooker as we know it. I met Barry Hearn around 84 as a young kid. I wish I would've met Alex Higgins. Hope Alex is right and the miracle happens and Jimmy does finally become world champion!. I hope his daughter gets paid for this too. The film is about Alex and he's dead, she should get royalties
