As a film to entertain it does the job well enough especially with the action scenes and in particular the ones set in the colosseum.
But if you enjoyed the original Gladiator movie this is not a patch on that epic even though it's basically the same storyline. Paul Mescal sadly is no Russell Crowe and it's hard to get emotionally attached to his character especially with his robotic dialogue. I like Pedro Pascal but he seems just to be going through the motions here as the General.
However acting wise it's Denzel Washington who across as the best character with a delicious almost pantomime style interpretation of Macrinus.

I was entertained though at the end of the day it's just another vampire film, made a bit different with the musical element which was enjoyable
Reminded me a bit of Tarantino's 1996 film From Dusk Till Dawn and if being honest Sinners is not as good
Cast wise Jordan was slick as you would expect, though liked more the performance of Wunmil Mosaku as Annie.
However the acting honours was won head and shoulders by the always watchable Jack O'Connell who dominated every scene he was in as the vampire Remmick.
Make sure you watch the end credits, always think too many people miss out on a lot of added content if leaving their seats when the credits roll.

Interesting drama about the rise to power in Italy of Mussolini. Though did not like when he spoke to the camera as took away the intrigue of it all.
But the real powerhouse of this series is the performance of Luca Marinelli as the dictator, he is truly magnificent and gave out strong reminders of Robert De Niro in his pomp, and dominates every scene he is in Before watching this only really knew of Benito Mussolini from World War Two, so this was an eye opener of a history lesson.
I would be interested in a second series if it happens but mainly just to see Marinelli in action again as he truly is the best thing about it all.
