I borrowed the comics recently and immensely enjoyed rereading them for the first time in long time. They have such a unique style of humour and wit, and dialogue

To my surprise I noted this new show on Netflix and gave it a crack. I had low expectations.

Colour me deeply impressed with how well they captured the humour and spirit of the books. It's a wonderful piece of work, by toutatis!

It borrows from across the stories and captured all the individual personalities of the village well, without making any massive changes. That's an impressive feat given the comics were written in the 60s.

Considering the time it's been since the last asterix and obelix 'movie' This came out of nowhere, But the animation and design from that movie has been stepped up a notch.

Smooth as butter, accurate to the comics with added modern day / retro music, updated name puns and it's all wrapped up in 20 ish min bites, effectively a 2 hour ish movie cut up in to 5 pieces.

Characters are as you'd expect with the classic antics each are known for with a bit of drama mixed in.

I'd say safe for kids unless you think tom and jerry is too violent ;)

voice acting ( for english at least) is on point, everyone feels invested in their character, no phone in's.

The new Asterix & Obelix: The Big Fight mini-series on Netflix is a real treat. It's a five-part animated adaptation of the classic comic, directed by Alain Chabat, what he's done with this series is genius! This version stays true to the heart of the original while adding a fresh, modern touch. The humor is sharp, the animation is beautifully done, and the voice cast fits perfectly. The story follows Asterix and Obelix as they stand against the Roman forces, while their druid Getafix finds himself in trouble, struggling with memory loss that causes him to forget the magic potion recipe. Naturally, chaos follows. Watching this took me straight back to afternoons spent in the Hornsby library, pouring over Asterix comics, getting lost in their sharp wit and playful satire. Those stories always had a way of making the world seem a little brighter, balancing clever historical nods with lighthearted humor. No matter how many times I read them, they were a source of comfort and a guaranteed laugh. This adaptation captures that timeless comic feel, and the jokes remain packed with satirical charm and modern pop culture references. Whether you're revisiting a childhood favorite or discovering Asterix for the first time, this is well worth a watch-Alain and Netflix have done a fantastic job bringing these characters to life! Naturally, I think they've done a bangup job but these are just my thoughts but I'd love to hear what you think of the mini-series and if you think they should they bring out more. Wished more people acknowledged that this came out. Asterix and obelix is pretty famous in my country wich yeah is in europe but still.

I haven't read allot of the comics but i have watched a few of the films.

Both the two animated ones and a few of the live action films.

This one is connected to the two animated films wich i both really like.

This one is a mini series but i found to be wonderfully charming.

The animation is great and they also use allot of 2d elements aswell, i like the hero's aswell as villains. Im not going over the plot since its like 5 episodes that are each half an hour so i would be yapping endlessly.

"Le Combat des Chefs" is one of the most iconic Asterix albums, and this new adaptation not only captures its essence flawlessly but elevates it with thoughtful enhancements for animation. The contemporary updates blend seamlessly with the original spirit, including subtle allusions to current events-Caesar's resemblance to Netanyahu and Putin, for instance, is unmistakable. For me, it's a complete triumph: the character animation feels as if the figures have stepped directly out of the comic's panels, while the colour palette pays a respectful homage to the 1989 adaptation of this album and Le Devin. It's a superb achievement, enriched by a stellar voice cast and outstanding visual design.

That said, I do feel that recent Asterix adaptations increasingly target a younger audience. Given that the original comic material often carries more mature themes and wit, I hope future projects will embrace that richness more fully. I'd love to see an adaptation aimed at adults-perhaps of Astérix chez les Helvètes or Les Lauriers de César. Or finally, a proper take on Le Tour de Gaule."
