This is a show if you're bored or not of a headache and aren't focusing it's really not that bad, but when you actually start to pay attention it's equal parts infuriating, stereotypical and shallow.
There are so many good opportunities to flesh the stories out in regards to her past, if the writers are hoping it's enticing people for a season 2, then no, 240 reviews for a new sky show says it all. Sky has gone down hill, green lighting anything and rebranding £3 dvd movies as sky premieres, just a pass.
What could've made this interesting was tying it to two pints, strangely similar to Janet who she portrayed in that, turned up to 11, think Sheridan still thinks she's that likeable girl out of that.
The annoying gay best friend, i genuinely feel sorry for how they continually get portrayed on tv as just awful people.

Sheridan Smith is back again on familar territory playing another dysfunctional working class reprobate in this new Sky comedy.
The opening episode was very messy in terms of setup, she's hooked on booze and every drug she can get her hands on but we have no idea why. She makes a fool of herself at her younger brothers wedding by getting wasted and ending up in hospital but we don't know why?
Perhaps it was meant to intrigue but I was a bit bored, the plot had no pay off and I didn't believe in her character. For a comedy there were few laughs, just a few decent one-liners.
It was great to see Father Ted stalwarts Ardal O'Hanlan and Pauline McLynn but they didn't seem old enough to credibly be her parents. Rest of the supporting cast were weak.
Overall a bit meh all round. Might get better over time but I doubt it. I'm out.

I wasn't sure about this at first because I thought it was stuck somewhere between a drama and a sitcom and couldn't quite find its place, but I ended up absolutely loving it. At first I did not like how it didn't take addiction seriously, have it a false representation for the majority who suffer from it and glammed it up, but actually, once you accept this for the black comedy it is instead of perhaps expecting a proper drama that's matter of fact, it works well. I hope they make more. Sheridan Smith is always a treat to watch and when it comes to her acting, she's the best of British, this definitely deserves the time to finish through, and doesn't deserve the negativity it's getting.
Everything about this is really dreadful.. The writing is so shockingly poor and thevacting is no better, which is a shame as I've liked everythingbrlse Sheridan Smith has starred in. Myself and my wife watched the first one and tried the second, but alas there was no improvement. Couldnt even tell you if it was a comedy or serious show. I can only imagine Ardal O'Hanlon asked to be killed off in the second episode to save himself further embarrassment.
Its almost as if the writer has tried doubly hard to put shock value into every sentence which has just ended up coming across as boring and unoriginal.

Sadly, I know alot of excessive people so this was like watching a bit of a docu series of my acquaintances! I like Sheridan Smith - I find her very easy to watch and believable in most roles.
Really enjoyed the series. Loved the cast. Will I remember it as much as other comedy/dramas? I don't know but I had some laugh out loud moments and i definitely felt some affinity with the protagonist...
Loved Ardal O'Hanlon as dad. Very funny - typical Irish humour and Pauline McGurk constantly asking everyone's Christmas plans was very reminiscent of the irish females in my family!
Was it perfect? No. But I enjoyed it very much.
