I vividly remember a Video City store in my hometown where we rent a VHS title at 15 pesos, which must be returned within a week. I know what the store looked like. If I could see one brought to life again, it will be very nostalgic. But in this movie it's so laughable, as if everyone involved in this movie did not even google or haven't seen an actual Video City store in their life. What annoyed me most was that the storefront signage was made from tarpaulin. Maybe they paid the actors a lot and ran out of budget. It was atrocious.
About the story, I was drawn the first few minutes. I thought it reminded me of Moments of Love starring Dingdong Dantes and Iza Calzado. And oh boy, I was wrong! The ending was terrible. The last 10 minutes of this movie felt rushed, as if they had to immediately wrap it up for the sake of releasing the film on schedule.
This was the first time I have watched Ruru Madrid and Yassi Pressman. I knew their names but I haven't watched them before. Their acting was alright. Nothing special or spectacular, but overall good. They had chemistry in this movie, but all was ruined by the storytelling. I didn't remember when I last watched a show or movie with Dennis Padilla in it, and I'm glad I didn't. He was and still is a terrible actor.
There's nothing worth remembering from this movie, except that they used Video City as a watch-bait.

Drawn in by the time-travel element this was my first philippines film. Not quite knowing what to expect and also aware of the terrible reviews. Well I found it delightful. No great special effects yet none were required to tell the story. I was charmed by the quirky Ningning (Yassi Pressman). And could easily see why our hero Han (Ruru Maddrid) fell for her. His character struggled with motivation and self-esteem. He played the part well and for this reason Han came across as a bit dull and un-confident. It reminded me of my own youth, what it was like to be young, in love, and then to lose. I found the love story emotional and both leads played their parts well.. Highly recommend for those that are looking for a bit of a different time-travel story. So I'll give it good 7.
Just finished watching this gem and I'm seriously blown away! The mix of time travel, nostalgia, as well as heartfelt storytelling was so good. The way that student who wants to be a filmmaker but having a trouble to make a good thesis stumbles into the 90s and ends up at Video City where he's life definitely changes! Pure magic. And don't get me started on the chemistry between him and the woman he meets-it felt real and raw. But that ending?? Open and bittersweet! I NEED a Season 2 ASAP. There's so much left to explore. Easily one of the best genre-bending filipino films I've seen in a while! Its a 10/10 for me.
Do you know how big the leap is between a terrible movie and a bad one?
This movie banks on the rabid fans of the individuals in this film. It will lull fans into thinking this is a good film because their "idols" star in it. I TRULY HOPE the people behind this movie have actual friends who hold them accountable and tell them how atrocious this film is. It has a broken plot and story. So much to the point that when you see this film you actually acknowledge the faults and pinpoint the differences between them. There is no redeeming quality. It is one of the worst movies I have had to sit through. This could've been an advertisement on YouTube and even then I would have skipped it. I would have bought premium subscription on YouTube just to not see this again.
In 5 words: This movie has no life.
There is nothing in this movie that will make you say "wow, this is good". But I bet you people will say it is. Under the guise of their favorite actors/actresses are in it. Let's say, you are an individual asked what about this movie can come off as good, what would the answer be?

Nobody ever knows why they made this movie about a man goes back in time to a discontinued video rental store. The story looked horrible and the product placements are frequentless. I felt bad that Viva and GMA made this because everybody wanted to stick with streaming instead. One day if only Video City will be brought back alongside MagnaVision and Odyssey. But who cares? Plus, the actors are a bit too woody to say the least. Overall, I gave this film 1/10 because who cares about this nostalgia at all. I'm a bit surprised that nobody is making a sequel that would definitely hurt the entire movie at all.
