Maybe someone had a good idea, but then they let ChatGPT write the script. The dialogues are... well, human beings don't communicate like that. What the characters do makes no sense-their interactions are impossible, contradictory, and inconsistent. Whoever wrote the script for this story doesn't understand even the basic laws of physics, distances, power dynamics, the solidity of physical matter, or even concepts like day and night. The CGI is literally at the level of a 1990s Power Rangers episode. The film is neither funny, nor scary, nor satirical. Just a random mess of nonsense and stupidity.
The beginning of the movie is really, really good. Then comes a long, boring section that's basically a teen romance, and since the actors are way too old to play teenagers, this part feels ridiculously stupid. The second half of the movie is like a video game, and it's about as exciting as watching someone else play one.
Also, Anya Taylor-Joy is a great actress, and I adore her (she's the reason I watched the movie in the first place), but what works for Milla Jovovich (or even Scarlett Johansson) just doesn't work for her. It was the same in Furiosa, and it's the same here.
I have no idea what Sigourney Weaver is doing in this movie. She's completely misplaced. Just like the rest of the cast. And me in the audience.
The music is good, as are the atmosphere and design. This is much more of a video game than a movie.
