Dirty Business

All this real world politics and smearing is really boring to see all the time, well at least for none US people like me. This is more like a power fantasy of extreme leftwing think the right side of the political system really is, but is so ridiculous blow up it makes a mockery of the left instead.

This episode featured very heavy on corporations and billioners just being default evil, while claiming the ressources should go to extreme left wing people, that ironically enough in real life lie and cheat (BLM).

The action has taken a backstage to the weird, creepy and message of politics. This is now a series more like GoT, where it was clear they ran out of ideas as soon as they stopped following the script and thought messaging was more important that value the world building they had.

It's a fairly entertaining episode. The best bit is probably Homelander trying and completely failing to wing it in a room full of the great and powerful and then Sage letting Homelander down through no fault of her own. Where it lost me is just the further and completely unnecessary descent into depravity for the sake of it. Unlike the last season there is nothing very compelling going on in terms of the story which seems to mean that the writers are just trying to create comical vignettes focusing on extreme nastiness. A couple of episodes back it really worked, but this episodes just reveals to us how entirely hollow that is.

Used to love this show but I doubt I'll return for the next season.

This episode continues the trend where our main characters just do whatever they want and no repercussions ever exist. The Supes apparently dont use their powers ever and are stupid, unless the writers want them not to be for a particular scene.

I feel that this season in particular just has no concrete purpose of existing, after they changed many plotline from the comic, they appear to have no clear way to approach the endgame of the show. Plotlines get abandoned, have very low payoff, often make no sense, and there are a ton of cliches that are employed to serve the rest. Very dissapointing to see where the show is headed, as there are no stakes anymore.

I get that The Boys has always had weird sexual scenes going as far back as Season 1 but holy moly i have never felt so cringed out and the annoying thing is it took up a lot of the episode's runtime. Where was it leading, what was it supposed to mean? I'm really finding it hard to grasp anymore interest for this show but because it has likeable characters i've still a little bit of trust. I really hope it turns around and gives us a decent ending.

The 4th episode "Wisdom of the Ages" made me excited and felt like the Season was actually leading somewhere. All we've had around that episode is bloated filler sub plots with paper thin development. After the last scene in this episode 6 "Dirty Business" i can say i am interested in what will happen next for Butcher. Although it seems like the writers are slowly throwing this show into the pit.

Those who write reviews extremely early giving the episode a 10/10 just don't seem believable, have they even watched it? Do they even consider any clarity, do they think this episode is really that good? I know we are all entitled to an opinion but this was one of the weakest episodes of The Boys i've ever watched. The story barely moves forward.

Love this show but but it absolutely has a major problem with pacing. Seasons 1 and 2 are full of hilarious satire of American politics, the entertainment industry, and the superhero genre, and lots of gore. BUT at the core is still a compelling enough plot that keeps moving forward.

The problem that started showing it's head in Season 3 was that there wasn't enough story to go along with the commentary and violence, and now in Season 4 it's much worse. 90% of this episode is just shock value, making you fear what's gonna happen but the show's main characters have such indestructible plot armor that you know they're never actually in any danger. So instead it's an hour of just, nothing? So far Season 4 feels like 2 or 3 episodes of content being stretched to 8.
