While I wouldn't say this short had much to offer in terms of interesting/engaging narrative like a lot of LDR shorts, it makes up for it with an incredibly cool monster design and great animation.
Firstly, the demon was definitely the best part of this episode. Its design was so unique and very creepy, seeming to take inspiration from eastern horror. You could tell the creators of this short put a lot of work into creating this thing like the design and its wild powers.
Second, I'm a big fan of this style of animation. It looked great and the gory parts were definitely visceral and quite vivid. I thought the backstory and context was engaging as well, with a lot of mysterious elements that left me wanting more lore from this universe.

I'm a little disappointed and confused with how negative a lot of the reviews are. I went into this movie thinking it would be... well... a 5.6 star experience, but came out pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was tense and eerie, the scares were effective, and there were a decent amount of creepy moments.
This leads me to believe that a lot of the people giving 5 or less stars do not know how to enjoy horror effectively. If you're watching this movie with a group of friends, or over drinks, or during a sunny day, then the scares and creepiness factor are going to be severely diminished. I watched this movie alone at night and there were legitimately terrifying moments (coming from a horror buff).
There are definitely a few short comings as others have mentioned but these really don't detract from the movie as much if you're in it for the scares and immerse yourself into the movie.
Decent horror movie, with good acting and good scares, 7/10.

Let me start off by saying this was a very scary movie. I've been a big fan of the Hell House franchise for a while especially the first movie, so I had to watch this. This movie does the Hell House LLC IP justice in terms of scares, but unfortunately falls flat in almost all other regards of an interesting and well rounded film.
The acting is bad. It is very very bad. At no point does it seem like the characters believe or feel what they are saying. Their facial expressions are exaggerated and their mannerisms/speech are simply not convincing. It feels less like the actors are trapped inside an evil, haunted mansion, and more like they are reading lines off a teleprompter. It Is so so so bad. The choices they make are also ridiculous, to the point where it completely detracts from the realism.
Now that that is out of the way... this is in fact a very scary movie. It does rely heavily on jump scares which is slightly disappointing, but they are done very well and the tension building is top notch. The atmosphere is super creepy and the camera work, lighting, music/sound, all contributes to the super eerie vibe of the film.
This easily could have been an 8/10 if the acting and writing had been on par with the first Hell House. Overall I would still suggest giving it a watch just because how creepy it is.
