I must admit that my reason for seeing this film was none other than hottie Jaime Camil. I didn't even have a clue as to what the plot was, but nonetheless I was determined to watch it. Well, I was in for a really good treat because this movie completely blew me away. Although I am Mexican, I am saddened to say that I am not a big fan of Mexican movies. I am a proud Mexican, but for some reason these movies don't attract me. This movie was a good slap in the face for me because I realized that perhaps Mexican movies CAN be good. I was actually shocked at the very interesting plot and the performance by all the actors, including Camil, of course. Over all this movie definitely deserves 2 thumbs up for it is entertaining and funny.
Think about this; if great movies this days are global, simple, and make you feel different. No wonder why this one won in his natal Mejico best film this year! It's been in just 3 us film festivals and already won the San Antono film festival.
This is a little something you have to see. No violence, no sex, just a simple story that gets you out of the theater for the second time thinking how they did all this with so little. My bet... a good heart & big pair of balls.
I'm still thinking; How the hell this guys got the U2 rights of their images, and music in such a small film? The actors; "Tony" (Jaime Camil) is not only hilarious but deep. And the other dude "Claudio" (Eduardo Arroyuelo) if you think that less in better, you got to see an actor that in his first movie in a leading role already understands what acting in 2006 is all about... ..."simplicity" something that took people like Juliette Binoche, Tony Leung Ka Fai or great masters like Michael Caine years to learn.
Believe me you are going to hear a lot about this one.

It's simple. It's a very good movie. Not fantastic but wery good. The plot is not really new. A guy who gambles with money that doesn't belong to him and looses it to the mob. To survive he has to achieve an impossible task. Retrieve the money in 7 days and to organize a U2 concert. His probable executioner, being a big U2 fan, helps him in this task. A new uncommon friendship? You feel nostalgia, drama, humor, love etc. all over the scenes and places. Cinematography is nice, music fantastic, the characters, belonging to different worlds, make it very short-wile listening to them... I had a good time, time passed, the finale as U2 fan just fantastic.
I just Saw "7 Dias"(7 Days) for the second time and me and my friends just loved it. What is going on with Mexican cinema this days? Gonzales Inarritu, Cuaron, Del Toro, Monteverde, and now this little gem.
The movie grabs you so fast in the beginning that half way in it, I didn't realized that I was also reading sub-tittles. (It seems that sub-tittles is the new trend, ha?)
The story is as simple as an underdog rock promoter that wants to get out of mediocrity and comes up with the idea of taking to a small city in northern Mexico "U2", the biggest band on earth. (But this is Mexico remember not the "staples center".)
That Is the tip of the iceberg in a story that really is about life or dead decisions, friendship, and most important growing up ( Even harder in a country that opportunities are not the everyday commodity.) And this is a comedy!!! ....And you laugh!!! ...How cool is that?
Don't expect to see a lot of "U2", because the band is just an excuse for the story. Not the movie by itself. But everything is so well done that becomes a wonderful and delightful experience. The photography, the art,the locations, are very interesting and peculiar. The score and the music is so moving that I even got the soundtrack from amazon.
The actors are great!!!! A multilayered middle class hero "Claudio caballero", is incredibly played by Eduardo Arroyuelo, who is sooooooooooooo hot! that no doubt he is the new Antonio Banderas, being a blend between Antonio, Johnny Depp and Orlando bloom, (if you can picture that!) Eduardo is the star in the movie and it's amazing how subtle and elegant he plays the character, blowing me away in the end where ( wins or not, I'm not telling you, and doesn't matter) he as an actor makes the most amazing choice revealing an universal truth about success, "The world changes, you don't".
The other character "Tony" played by Jaime Camil (An other hottie!!) takes the comedic relief by showing the other face of the coin of a Mexican mafia member, as well as being the perfect sidekick for Arroyuelo. They both together work and look great!!!
I can't wait to see it again, this is the type of movie that is worth my dollars and my minutes... If Mexicans are doing these I'll stick to the Mexicans!!! Or if I have to be patriotic and wait and see the Hollywood remake; God! please just tell them to keep Eduardo!!!!!!!

Finally after many years of waiting and under the excellent guidance of the acclaimed writer and film Director Fernando Kalife, the great Mexican cinema comes to life again across the borders . This Film, winner from Cine Festival Guadalupe in San Antonio,Texas presents a modern story where passion, loyalty and betrayal gets unexpectedly mixed in a Urban MAFIA/Rock environment. The movie will keep you glued to your seat from beginning to end. Deliciously planted and leaded by the magnificent performances of Eduardo Arroyuelo (Claudio Caballero)Jaime Camil (Tony Zamacona) and Martha Higareda(Gloria) and with the awesome musical background provided by the megabands "U2" and " LA LEY" the plot will TEACH you the 101's on how Artistic business can get done. This movie promises to become a classic. Two thumbs up!
