Get the tissues - American Underdog will make even the most stone face man let go... Best sports themed feel-good movie I've EVER seen (and I see a LOT of movies)! Second only to CODA this year in the feel good category at large, which might very well be the best of all time. It was a memorable year for feeling good watching movies 👏.

Better than anticipated, and glad I bought American Underdog (only way to see it right now other than in Theaters). Worth it!

Anyone who reads my reviews knows I don't give out 9s or 10s easily. Like Kurt Warner, this film defies the "usual" and earns my 9 without reservation.

I was fifteen years old during the 1999 Rams season. I still remember the "greatest show on turf" like it was last year, even though it's now been 22 years. The Rams revolutionized the sport that season.

"American Underdog" left me speechless at times. Levi was believable enough as an athlete, but the major theme of the story is family and how sometimes winning isn't really winning if you don't have those to share it with. I had heard the Kurt Warner story a few times, but obviously not with this much detail and heart.

As for the football scenes, I was blown away by how well they did. The play calling especially was well done. The trailer had me worried about the quality of football and my worries quickly subsided only after a few minutes of the film.

The supporting cast also was impressive. I wish we saw more of the beautiful and talented Paquin, who portrayed Brenda Warner and knocked it out the park. Dennis Quaid plays Dick Vermiel and like usual, was awesome. I could go on and on.

I mostly wanted to write this review for football fans (like me) who were skeptical of this film after the trailer. Please see it. I will definitely be buying this film for my personal collection. I hope you all enjoy it as well.

I have to begin by saying I am a huge NFL fan. But, to my surprise, this was not a movie about the NFL. It is a touching story about an athlete and the strong woman by his side. We often here the words faith, hope, and love in spiritual talks and discussion. What do these words look like in life.... The Warner family. This movie does a nice job at showing the path to success and yes, it comes with trials and tribulations. This was well done.

Being a Christian and almost always being embarrassed by Christian movies, I was a little nervous going in to see this screening in October. I knew really nothing about Kurt Warner.

Wow. I was pleasantly surprised.

Even though a 'Christian' produced movie, i didn't even notice that when i watched it. It kept God in the movie without shoving down people throats. No preaching, no sappy moments we've all seen a million times before. Just an amazing movie about an amazing guy.

Anybody who watches this will be satisfied.

American Underdog follows NFL quarterback Kurt Warner (Zachary Levi) and his journey from bagging groceries, to the struggles of being an undrafted player, to playing arena football, to playing for the then, St. Louis Rams. While he's experiencing ups and downs in his career, Warner also must balance his vacillating family life. It's a saga for the ages, and it's all true!

The production team of American Underdog led by Andrew and Jon Erwin don't let a single detail go - the acting, music, cinematography and script of this film are all incredible. Zachary Levi owns his role as Kurt Warner, harmonizing the characteristic toughness of a NFL player with the emotions of a husband, son, dad and teammate. Dennis Quaid's portrayal of head coach Richard Vermeil deserves a round of applause as well, and for a similar reason. It feels as if Quaid must have been a coach at one point. In his role as Vermeil, Quaid unrelentingly pushes Levi's character, but encourages and supports him in equal measure.

American Underdog teaches the virtues of perseverance and hard work. Kurt Warner didn't get what he wanted the first time, so he worked his tail off and earned it. Sure, he was dejected when sent home from the Green Bay Packers after a day on the team. But he didn't let it stop him.

I give American Underdog 4.5 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 13 to18, plus adults. American Underdog releases in theaters December 25, 2021. By Eshaan M., KIDS FIRST!

Rare nowadays to see a clean movie of nice things people doing their best to do good. Honesty. Integrity. Beautiful human piece. Yea the ending is happy. But the pathway was long and hard and it is clear that all involved appreciate and acknowledge it. Watch it with your family. Solid acting. Includes a clear religious undertone but it is not explicit nor uncomfortable for any viewer. Watch to the end of the credits to see a great clip of the son Zak and what that amazing couple did for him and the challenged adults. Again watch this with your own family and enjoy good clean values and morality.

Movies, books, music, arts all plant the seeds of character. This type of movie is dangerous! It might cause a young man to believe that dreams can come true if you work hard, believe in yourself, endure, and allow God to work out the timing. This is more of a faith story than it is a "football story." I really enjoyed it and hope that it will have a long life beyond it's theatrical release. Our country's youths needs to see more movies with this type of message!!

My wife and I went and saw this movie! I as a football fan and my wife not so much. We both totally enjoyed this movie. I was totally surprised how good it was. It is good for date night, or for anyone to see on their own.

I am a non-american and I do not follow much of American Football (as as we all know that this game played mainly by hand, the name alone os wired to outsiders) ;-) but ...: If this story is anywhere close to real life, I do kneel down to this guy Kurt Warner. He was confronted to the challenges so many people are confronted to and he did it. Not only is his endurance inspiring but also the support of his loved ones. A great trait all to often not seen in real life, although his was real.

Great acting performance by the protagonists and great job by the director. An underrated movie that all people with hopes an dreams should see (so all of us ;-).

If the real Kurt Warner is anywhere near his movie character: Wow man. You rock ;-) That's what 99% of people can learn from I really mean it!

But now...I'm A believer. If you're looking for the evidence of the God, just go and see this movie and you will find out that the true devotion to love and righteousness is the reward itself. Everything become easy after that. With a high spirit and pure heart, one is destined to succeed.

Based on a true story, American Underdog is a wonderful and uplifting story about QB Kurt Warner's struggles and challenges he had getting to the NFL.

Growing up, Kurt Warner always dreamed of playing in the NFL. He watched Super Bowl XIX and he decides that he will play in the NFL and win a Super Bowl and MVP.

So years later Kurt is the quarterback for the University of Northern Iowa. He plays 5 years and he has very good stats as the starting quarterback. He is so sure he will be picked in the NFL draft... But one team after another, every team passes him over.

Kurt went through several NFL tryouts with various teams but to no avail. So Kurt goes to work for a local grocery store. But he never gave up, and gets a offer to play Arena Football. Kurt became a star QB of that league. He even made the Arena Football Hall of Fame.

Soon Kurt's fame spread and reaches the NFL scouts. Finally the door is open to his dream. Dick Vermeil, coach of the Rams goes against his entire staff and signs Kurt Warner as the Rams backup quarterback.

"I just want my shot. I want one chance to prove that I'm good enough" - Kurt When the Rams starting QB is injured, Kurt steps in and becomes the starter. Oh and not just a starting QB, Kurt won a Super Bowl, Super Bowl MVP, and NFL MVP.

As much as Kurt loves playing football and receiving all the awards. He placed his family first and gives them credit, having the people you love to stand by you through all the struggles.

"It doesn't mean anything if you don't have someone to share it with" - Kurt I really enjoined this underdog movie. A bit rare and unique for a football movie... And even if you are not a football fan, this is a really awesome feel-good underdog story. I do wish there more films like this.

The story of NFL MVP and Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner, who went from stocking shelves at a supermarket to becoming an American Football star.

"Do what you can do, till you can do what you want to do?" As a big time football fan, I was really looking forward to this movie. It did not disappoint, but there was nothing new that I didn't already know. Anna Paquin made the movie for me as Brenda...she brought the acting score up for the rest of the cast. If you like football, then I think this is a must watch...but even for those that don't, this is a good story worth a look anyway.

Good true story film, based around a sport I have no time for.

Enjoyed the film, story, acting etc - high rating as deserved + Nice to see film not relying on SFX etc.

Also how to hit PC / woke targets with realism so not frustrating / boring / in ya face as currently seems the norm.

Kinda film - If into sports, could watch with partner not into sports - Both would enjoy film - winnawinna.

I must say this was a very enjoyable watch. The actors did one amazing job at carrying the story all the way through. It made you root for Kurt the whole time. Simply put ... What a great story, and fantastic ending. Makes one feel good after... I will watch again...!

Good example of traditional nuclear family values and what can be accomplished. This story captures the hope in many of us if we don't give up. We need more of these movies..

Go see this to see that success is not measured with dollars but attitudes that are good for ourselves and society. Yeah money is there but tenacity and faith plays a big role. If you are tired of Hollywood's pushing of foul language and nonstop violence see this. This is about real life and its challenges.

This movie stayed true to the central character's life stories. The film is as much about Kurt Warner's wife as it is about him. I felt her struggles and her "trust" fears as much as his own struggles for relevance. The acting is superb. The film starts slowly, but does a great job of developing their story. It has just enough football to satisfy diehard fans. But is is far more than just a "football movie."

We've always loved sports movies, often baseball, but American Football works just as well. Not huge stars, although well known (Shazam, The Piano) and of course the wonderful Denis Quaid, but great casting and they work well together. It's a love story too, so something for the romantics amongst us, but like the name of the film, it's a story of adversity and living your dream. It's a super little film and we are so glad we found it. Especially after some of the dire movies that have been showing recently, and the constant super heroes that we see (I'm not adverse to DC or Marvel), but sometimes, you just want something well acted, with a great story, likeable characters - a film you can invest in without browsing on your device. Enjoy!

My bias is skewed, since I am a Rams fan, but this is a story that should inspire all of us to keep the faith when it feels like everything is happening counter intuitively to our goal and dreams. Great story and the acting was smooth and enjoyable. Loved it.

I really enjoyed this. This was really motivational and well casted. Definitey brought down the waterworks at the end. Best film I've watched recently.

The only thing why I didn't give it a 10, is because they didn't mention his season with the Amsterdam Admirals. We saw him play here in Amsterdam, the best QB we ever had. Seeing him win the Superbowl, just one year later, made us so proud.

Watching Warner play in Arizona and being aware of the challenges he faced brought this movie close to home. Chronicles his journey from college to the NFL with the Rams. Inspirational movie ...enjoyed it tremendously.
