Avis à la une
The reason I read the user review s on films and give them more weight than critics reviews is that they tend to give a true picture of if I will enjoy the film.
More and more there seems to be critic type reviews from users tho, so I just wanted to add mine to balance it towards the none critical viewer This film is simply enjoyable! Whole family watched it, 10 year old girl, 30's husband wife, 40's husband wife and 72 year woman, made all of us laugh throughout, classic Adam sandler, really enjoyed it. It's cheesy, light, fun, and a bit cringe worthy in places.

Like films of the past such as Meatballs, Police Academy, Summer Rental and many others, Grown Ups delivers in SNL style comedy. with a star studded cast of Adam Sandler, Kevin James, David Spade, Rob Schneider, Chris Rock, Salma Hayek, Maya Rudolph, Maria Bello, Steve Buscemi and Tim Meadows this original style comedy is fair.
A childhood basketball coach dies and the boys and their wives get together for a week to say goodbye and reminisce about the good old days and along the way teach their kids what being a kid back then meant. There is old style humor that if you grew up in the 80's you would remember.
It is a fun film for adults who recognize the meaning behind friendship and the childhood they had. I give this a solid 6 of 10.

How can anyone rate low scores with such an all-star stellar comedic group of actors? This is supposed to be fun and funny mindless entertainment, and it was! I had a permanent smile throughout the entire film, in between all the laughs. Excellent casting and acting, especially Spade. Directing, pacing, runtime and writing were all on point. And the story was excellent! This is a collectors film. A well deserved 9/10 from me.
The stage curtains open ...
I know others didn't care for this movie, but I really enjoyed it. It just goes to show, not everyone likes the same things, and that's okay. I laughed throughout - almost like I was there with them.
When the beloved coach of their childhood champion basketball team passes away, 5 friends since youth come together with their families for the funeral. Each of them having taken very different roads to end up in different jobs and financial statuses. But, all of them still share the same background, same basic sense of humor and similar family problems. They're friends, and even after all these years, they don't miss a beat.
This isn't one of Adam Sandler's best movies, but it is one of his most down-to-earth and casual films. It really is like old friends hanging out together, joking around and having fun. It is this kind of humor, the kind you have when you're with your best friends and just enjoying the time together. On the strength of this comedy type is where this movie excels. It handles most of the subject matter realistically, with some over-the-top moments - ie: the breast pump scenes, and the hanging by your feet from a zip line at the water park (which, of course, they would never let you do), but that just adds to the overall feel. The various family dynamics are entertaining - for example, between Kurt McKenzie (Chris Rock) and his mother-in-law. And each actor brings his own brand of humor effectively to the screen.
I had a fun time with this movie - I've already seen it more than once and am sure to watch it again. This is a recommend for me.

If you see the cast featured in this movie and think wow, then you'll probably like it.
If you're not a fan of the comedians in this movie chances are you wont like it. I personally tend to like anything Adam Sandler is in and this is no exception.
Kevin James is his usual goofy self, Chris Rock has done better movies but is still decent in this one. David Spade was average as the whiny singleton. Rob Schneider was okay and Madison Riley as the character of his daughter OMG! Smoking Hot!!! I definitely want to see more of her! I did feel quite old (i'm only 27) when I found out that she was only 20...
All the acting was up to scratch and there were several hilarious moments.

- AnecdotesAdam Sandler wrote and was set to release this movie in the mid 1990s, with Chris Farley in the Kevin James role. Farley's death in 1997 halted production plans, and the film was shelved for more than a decade.
- GaffesWhen everybody's entering the lake house for the first time, after Rob says "Welcome back to 1978," and the camera shows all of the characters, a crew member can be seen running past one of the windows on the left.
