Final Destination: Bloodlines is the 6th instalment in the franchise releasing 25 years after the original. We have gruesome kills, new lore, humour and a story that ties the whole Final Destination timeline together.
What's great is that the directors know exactly what the audience is looking for and they do a great job using cinematography to play on these emotions by building up tension and trying to subvert expectations.
The story is fresh albeit straightforward - It manages to tie the whole series together whilst introducing us to some new rules. The characters are fun, and in keeping with what you would expect for the genre, with each one bringing something different to the table. Inside the theatre there were gasps, acknowledgement of creative deaths and plenty of laughs due to the humour which was perfectly balanced with the tension and dread in the film.
Overall Final Destination: Bloodlines was an excellent entry into franchise and one which can hopefully breathe new life into it.

Wow... This has to be one of the best depictions of war ever filmed.
Anybody who has seen Alex Garland's 'Civil War' was given a sneak preview of what he could do with a military action scene but in Warfare we get to indulge in this action for an hour and a half.
Warfare is expert film making especially when it comes to simplicity. It's a no thrills, no music and no gimmicks depiction of modern ground based warfare. We simply follow a real day in the life story of a Navy Seal platoon on what seems to be a routine mission in the streets of Ramadi, Iraq.
After a very brief and humanising clip of the platoon prior to the mission, we're onto the streets of Iraq and from then everything appears to take place in real time. There's an expectation, that something might go wrong, but when it comes, it arrives in a big way and the movie never lets up. It's not that it's full of non-stop action but the tension is ever present. The film fully immerses viewers with the platoon through sight and sound. Everything seems to be moving so slowly and yet so fast as you hang onto every word, sound, breath and expression.
Warfare simply depicts the horrors of war. What it takes to remember your training, follow protocol but also the very real human reactions to the heat of battle, especially when things don't go to plan. It's one of the best depiction of modern war I've experienced. I have no doubt that it will be used for education purposes in the future.

Sinners is a Vampire Horror Drama directed by Ryan Coogler starring Michael B Jordan.
Set in the Deep South, The movie follows two brothers, Smoke and Stack, as they return home from troubles on the road to embark on a new venture. But further danger awaits...
This first half of movie felt like a period drama which quickly transported us into the 1930s. We learn snippets of the Brother's background which leaves us wanting to know more about the life they've lived. Although a slow build, the movie touches on several themes including the struggle Black individuals faced within the period both externally and internally.
The horror element creeps in during the second half of the movie and whilst it couldn't match the quality of the first half, especially the third act, it remained on theme whilst providing moments of tension.
Music plays a huge part in the film both for the viewers and the characters alike. Ludwig Goransson (Black Panther, Creed) joins forces with Coogler once again to provide a unique score. The musical elements highlights the power of song with one scene in particular being a standout. Sinners feels like a movie that will take you deeper with each watch as it weaves several themes and genres together with strong acting performances.
Whilst I came for the horror and the action, it was actually the drama, characters and themes that I appreciated most.
