I was dragged to see this movie last summer with my girlfriend because she thought it looked like a cute time-passer. I can't say I had high hopes, as I have never read the book and the film looked like nothing more than a high-budget Netflix movie, although I did have some excitement that Steven Spielberg was directing it and the CGI looked beautiful from the previews. After I walked out of the theater and recycled my 3D glasses, I was thinking to myself, "that wasn't too bad for a family movie, but did I really HAVE to see that?". There were positives- the visuals were spectacular, the musical score by John Williams was amazing as usual, and the performances were top-notch, but the problems were that I didn't find the movie rich in story or humor. It feels like a rip-off of E.T. only with juvenile kids movie humor, which made sense, due to the film having been directed by Spielberg and produced by Amblin Entertainment(hence the E.T. and Elliot bicycle moon logo at the intro), and it wasn't as heartfelt as the for-mentioned film, either. The attempts at comedy are amiable and suitably childish for the kind of movie this is, but at the theater I was in, I didn't hear much laughing out of any of the families that were watching the film. All in all, BFG will be enjoyed by the younger children, and anyone else won't hate themselves while watching it, but they'll still most likely be either checking their watches or playing games on their phone. However, my girlfriend enjoyed it immensely, so what can you do?

After last year's mildly entertaining yet sometimes frustrating TFA, I was ready to give up on modern Star Wars. However, I saw the trailer for this film and I said to myself, "why not give it a second chance?" and I bought a ticket for a night showing the day the film was released into theaters. And I'm very glad I did. Rogue One is a fresh new take on different characters that are developed to be loved by the audience, although the same classic Star Wars feel is present with plenty of charms. For example: instead of the irritating Jar Jar Binks that doesn't fit in a Star Wars movie, a new comic relief named K-2SO is introduced as a sarcastic yet hilarious droid that doesn't need to incorporate childish fart jokes to be funny, providing the sassy humor that all OT fans adore. The CGI is absolutely seamless; everything blends in incredibly realistically with the actors and props, and the action sequences are some of the most creative I've seen at the theater this year; remember that glorious airport fight scene that Civil War showcased? Well, Rogue One tops that in as many ways as possible! Oh, and the Easter eggs, cameos and Darth Vader are just the icing on the already delicious cake- they will leave you jaw-dropped. Go see Rogue One, but make sure it's in 2D, as 3D will ruin the already amazing visuals. Have a blast!

When I was a kid, there were a few Nicktoons I liked, and two true Nicktoons I loved- SpongeBob, and Jimmy Neutron. The reason why Jimmy Neutron is such a good show is its imaginative surrealness of the stories and the VERY funny cast of characters that are greatly voiced. Granted, it doesn't have the heartfelt core of some other older Nicktoons nor does it have decent animation, but it's all made up for in the show's twisted yet inspired sense of humor, creative plots and even some character development. There's plenty of goofy slapstick moments for the kids to dig, and there are some tongue-in-cheek adult jokes that are all kept in good taste. The animation may look cruddy, but it's part of the weird charm of the show. The gadgets created by Jimmy are possibly one of the highlights, showing off things you'd love to have in real life. Overall, Jimmy Neutron is a hilarious cartoon that all ages can enjoy, and it's also a great part of many people'a childhoods, including mine. Enjoy!
