Single mom, Abby with her two kids decides to start a new life after giving up her work in London. Reading the ads, she finds out that a Scottish island is in need of a family to keep the school open. She asks her best friend, Kenny to pretend to be her husband and the father so that they can try. They get lucky, they move into an old house on Ronansay, which they run as a B& B and the charade is on its way.

It's the day of Kenny's funeral the whole community is there an attendance except for Kenny's father, Terry and Kenny's closes mates. Abby is very upset about this and wonder why they were not there especially Kenny's dad Terry Douglas questions, Gordon, why they're not there, and in an instant Gordon realizes that he has given them the wrong date to pick them all up from the ferry in Portree Douglas furiously demands that cordon goes over the poetry on the ferry to see if they are there. Luckily for Gordon they were and awaiting to be taken back to the island of Ronan say Meanwhile Douglas suggested to the community and Abbey that they do another funeral. Gordon could not admit to Terry that he made a mistake and finally Abby comes clean with him about what happened. Terry was most gracious, and the funeral went better than expected.
