In only four years, scheming dirty-dog villain George Reeves would become more famous playing the ultimate hero, Superman, in the Adventures of Superman (1952). Only five years later, Dr. Jonas Salk would announce the real polio vaccine.

Alex Raymond was the co-creator of the "Jungle Jim" newspaper strip in 1934, but King Features owned the character. There was no mention of this on the film. Instead, there is the following: "Based upon the newspaper feature 'Jungle Jim', owned and copyrighted by King Features Syndicate which appears regularly in Puck, the Comic Weekly."

This was the first of thirteen features starring Johnny Weissmuller as Jungle Jim. He would later play this character on television from 1955 to 1956.
