It's a curiosity that several Jackie Chan movies are available in Japan in a special cut and Police Story is just another example. Here the Japanese Laserdisc features an extended cut that runs nearly six minutes longer than the well-known theatrical version. There is for example a prolonged opening sequence and a new birthday surprise/briefing scene and several other changes.
