Mad TV was one of the best. It made fun of every demographic, party, race, celebrity, religion, or idea imaginable. This show came about when SNL was in its waning years, in my opinion, and picked up the slack. SNL has survived into 2017, but Mad TV should have been the one still on air. Where SNL has become a long-winded political church service and Ad Campaign for millennial hipsters, Mad TV was raunchy and never very PC. I found it to be way more open-minded and randomly hilarious than SNL's overrated crap. All the losers from SNL get a lifetime movie deal and attention from networks, while Mad TV stars are rarely given attention after leaving the show. It is obvious that you simply have to be a part of the "inside clique" and the "cool kids" club to be with the SNL bunch, but Mad TV was more unique, and took way more risks with stupidly funny parodies and characters. SNL is so tired and now it is nothing more than a holier-than-thou sermon and trash fest of whatever president or figure the cast/writers/producers hate that year. They are so biased and also boring, with ugly, dull characters and lame "musicians", who are usually just bubblegum performers marketed to idiots while they lip sync. Mad TV used to actually have great bands and lesser- known performers, but ones who were still very popular in different genres and their ideas were infinitely better than any comedy show on regular TV today. You can find some exceptions to this on cable TV, but very few. Mad was on par with Chappelle and Sunny in Philly. I miss it a great deal.

I have to say,Mad TV is so bloody hilarious, especially with physical comedy.Yes,it was offensive(and still is),but at least it's not the cheesy Fast Forward Show or the so-called comedian Will Ferrall(no offense to the fans of him,but this is what I really think of him)and Mike Myers does pathetic kids movies now like Shrek, though the only movies I ever liked were Austin Powers(they were all comically classic).
The greatest things about this show was how over-the-top it was in oh-so-funny ways. The mockery and satirical parodies from music, movies,TV shows, video games,toys,real-life problems, bathroom humour,to practically everything, and I MEAN EVERYTHING.When watching the show,it was like reading Mad magazine put on television virtually,it was fun.
There isn't anything else to talk about this show because of how genius everything is in this show. One more thing,I thank the show so much for doing a take off of the High school musical film in a humorous version. That film was campy.

OK, so maybe "Mad TV" is the same sort of thing as "Saturday Night Live", but you still gotta love it! No matter what the situation is, they always find something great to do (including a recent skit where Kim Jong Il has the hots for Jennifer Love Hewitt during the Macy's Day Parade). Part of what it shows is that as long as our society - and the world in general - functions as it does, satire will always have a place.
As for the cast, they're all quite hilarious. Bobby Lee and Frank Caliendo have got to be some of the funniest guys out there; if you haven't seen Caliendo's George W. Bush imitation, then you're really missing something! If I have to choose between this one and "SNL", I would probably go with the latter just because of it's early days. But you can't deny that this one provides its solid share of laughs. It's a modern TV classic.

If you're not offended by comedy, this might be for you. I wish they would bring it back since there really isn't anything like it now.

I was flicking through the channels late one night and I saw this really funny sketch on the TV that had me in stitches. From that sketch I became addicted to MADtv and didn't miss a single episode. My favorite sketches are E-Harmony,Stuart,Nicole Parker,Barack Obama and all the other presidents of the USA they have had, Coach Hines and many others.I have seen nearly every episode ever made on MADtv.
I watch youtube clips on the show and they never fail to make laugh non stop.I also catch the repeats they air on TV now the show is over and I feel sad the show has ended because it was sooooooooooo funny and was one of my favorite shows.
10/10 is my rating

Mad TV is without a doubt the best show of it's kind ever. How and why it got cancelled is a mystery when you consider that SNL is still running. SNL has not been funny for years now, It was once, not so anymore. As outrageous as Mad TV can be, how offensive it also can be ,IS what makes it so God Damm Hysterical. The chances it takes with it's subjects are no where else on American TV. Mad TV would never make it in todays P.C. culture. It would be worth watching some of the skits on YOU TUBE. From Stewart,to Miss Swain, to the Vancombe Lady, there has never been a show to take such chances with it's Politically Incorrect Writings.
Under the exceptional guidance of show-runners Fax Bahr and Adam Small, the series was a masterpiece of creativity. The senior writers such as Lauren Dombrowski, Gary Campbell, and Mike Short consistently delivered captivating and entertaining scripts. Bryan Callen's performances stood out, making him an unsung hero of the show. Phil Lamarr, Orlando Jones, and the genius level talent of Dave Herman consistently brought joy and smiles. Artie Lang's contribution as part of this stellar cast is not to be forgotten. The show's female powerhouses - Deborah Wilson, Mary Scheer, Nicole Sullivan - were truly remarkable, each bringing big laughs every week. Patton Oswald was also a writer at the time and transitioned himself into being a performer. The show was a virtual launching pad for many cast and crew. That year was the first time I saw Joe Rogan perform (as a guest on the show). This team's overall synergy not only produced outstanding content, but also created an unforgettable impact on both the audience and myself. I have been a Mad fan ever since 1996, and I dare you to watch any episode without at least a few big LOL's.

This is another one of my favorite skit comedies that I think is just a bit under the radar, it doesn't get enough credit that it deserves.
I'm a fan of the Mad magazine comics, they were a comedy anthology that always cracked me up as most of the cartoons were always parodies on movies, commericals, sports, video games, you name it just anything to flip upside down and turn into a joke. I think what really made most of the cartoons funny was sometimes there was a bit of truth in some of them, how truly crazy the subcultures we constructed really are when you look at them hard enough, just simply the absurdity of just about any colorful concept, but all the same the magazine was simply made to be plan fun and funny and that's what it and this show does.
Just like with the magazine part of what made this skit show really funny was how it really went to extreme lengths and was willing to input it's absurd and sometimes satirical sense of humor to live television and it truly translated well which made it all the more funny.
I really like the cast which are all colorful and talented comedians. My favorites are Orlando Jones, Will Sasso, Mike McDonald, though my favorite one was of course Phil Lamarr whom is just fantastic let alone the fact he's one of my favorite voice actors which makes it all the more cool. All of them were just talented in there own way.
Sometimes like with SNL this show would have celebrity guest stars but they didn't take up the whole show in fact they weren't in the show that long only in a skit or two. But that was actually a good thing because this show didn't rely on star power but on the talent of their cast and the quality of the skits which was a great thing. And when the guests were in the show they actually looked like they were having a good time as most of the skits they weren't playing some random character but loosely themselves.
There are a lot of memorable skits I just name a few that are my favorites: Lowered Expectations: This small skits are great as they show guys and girls that are the last people you never want to date. My favorite one was a running three parter with Phil Lamarr playing Rick whom is such a narcissistic jerk. What made it really funny was just seeing how much it built up to being funnier and funnier as we see Rick getting more impatient, frustrated, just losing his cool by the minute.
Spy vs. Spy: These animated shorts were always funny, just like in the magazine it was simply seeing how one spy or the other off each other, you just have to see them yourselves.
Kenny Rogers: I'm not the biggest fan of this character but I thought he was really funny in a skit or two. My favorite one are the "Jackass" skits which were just hilarious and at the same time painful to watch. Just like in that show we see him just go though all kinds of stupid stunts, getting hit with baseball bats a lot, or any stupid contest like the Darry Challenge which was disgusting but hilarious at the same time. What made those skits all the more funny was just how much Will Sasso kept in character going through all that physically which is challenging on an acting stand point but it paid off.
Steven Segal: This is my favorite impersonation character from the show and from comedian Will Sasso. It's just hilarious as Will just makes Steven Segal into an out of practice martial artist and egocentric jerk. Though it's also kinda ironic considering where Steven's carrier has gone let alone what he physically looks like today, let's face it. Anyway, two of my favorites with him were when he was staring in a "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" rip off and another was when he was in a "Kung Fu" remake and of course David Carodine guest stared and he is just dryly hilarious and of course there is a funny payoff in the end.
24 with Bobby Lee: This one is funny, it's a parody on 24 and yet it's not if you get my drift. But what I love about this is just what happens with this guy in most hours of the day as each thing he does and what happens is just so random though never boring; though I can't help but feel there is some truth to this because sometimes that's our own lives as were always doing something different within the hour. My favorite one was with John Chu as he was throwing poppers and lighting firecrackers on a sleeping Bobby Lee.
The Greatest Action Film Ever: This is my favorite skit of all, as it's a sequel to the Terminator. Only he is brought to protect Jesus which is just hilarious, as we see the Terminator simply being the Terminator. What makes it funny is just how much unintentional grief T-800 gives Jesus, which makes sense due to the fact that Jesus is prone for non violence, but T-800 isn't.
Mad TV is Mad Fun.

Mad TV is a sketch show featuring a cast of hilarious characters. It is on Saturday night and is better than SNL, my favorite actor is Frank Caliendo. Many of the actors go on to bigger things. Original cast member Nicole Sullivan stars on King of Queens and has appeared in siera Mist Commercials. Original cast member Orlando Jones was the original make 7 up yours guy and has also been in a few movies. Will Sasso starred on Less than Perfect. Michael McDonald has appeared on several sitcoms and in all three Austin Powers movies. Aries Spears appeared in the Pest and is now in Sierra Mist commercials. Alex Borstein has been in a few movies and now is Lois Griffin on Family Guy. Josh Meyers is now on that 70s Show. There are many original characters like Stewart (Michael McDonald) Miss Swan (Alex Borstein) Dollar Bill Montgomery (Aries Spears) Bae Sung "uh oh hotdog (Bobby Lee) Lauraen (Mo Collins) and many more. There are also impressions of real people the best in my opinion by Frank Caliendo. George w. Bush (Frank Caliendo), Bob barker (Michael McDonald) Rod Roddy (Frank Caliendo) Konnie chung (Bobby Lee) Ashley Simpson (Nicole Parker) and although Will Sasso's Kenny Rogers is loosely based on the rear Kenny Rogers it is considered an original character because it is nothing like Kenny Rogers.
