To make Chris O'Donnell appear to be much taller than Minnie Driver than he really is, she had to walk in a ditch when they were filming the scene of their stroll in Knockglen.
When Ireland's Virgin Media One tv channnel showed this in 2021, they clearly had a high quality hd quality remastered version, sourced from itv studios (successor to original UK distributor Rank). Curiously, in this version, the film's aspect ratio is close to but slightly wider than the 12:9 (academy ratio), thus giving the film the look and feel of a tv movie (mid 1990s broadcasts hadn't officially started migrating to widescreen). It therefore likely that no widescreen letterbox aspect ratio version of the film ever existed.
Colin Firth was the only actor in the movie not to speak with an Irish accent.
