Series pilot. Dave interviews a man who house-trains gorillas, Hern shows footage of a game called "flimbok", and a dance lesson is sped up in the "Hurry-Up" segment. Diz tries to tell a story during the show, but has to wait and cram it into two minutes at the end of the show.

Fred Newman co-hosts with Dave. Diz misunderstands, thinking Fred will be the new host.

It's National Invention and New Idea Day, and the staff and crew show off their own inventions. Dave's guest is Oscar Boom-Boom Kapow, a man who does human fireworks.

Dave's guest is Professor Gravity, a physicist working on anti-gravity pills. After trying one, Dave floats into space.

Dave is worried when a well-dressed man appears at the studio, who is said to be the "big boss", which makes him and the rest of the gang believe they are all about to lose their jobs.

Dave's former classmates from Millard Fillmore High School (played by the Duck's Breath Mystery Theater) hold a reunion on the show, much to Dave's chagrin. Diz's doll is broken in the confusion and taken to the Doll Hospital.

When Dave falls under a trance by a hypnotist to make him fall in love with Diz, Hern takes over hosting the show.

The Big Boss decides Dave needs a new wardrobe. A professional fashion designer gives the whole cast a wardrobe make-over, resulting in a bizarre fashion show.

When Waldo takes the day off from work to go to the beach and takes one of the two studio cameras with him, Dave is left to run the show by himself as more staff takes off to go to the beach for some fun adventures.

Dave experiences nothing but bad luck due to his superstitions, which include being chased by a life-sized action figure and dealing with technical problems on the set.

Hern and Angela face off in a "battle of the reporters" to see which one of them is the better reporter for the show.

Waldo creates a super-growth ray that makes things big, but things get out of control when Dave uses the ray to accidentally blow-up a tarantula that stalks the studio.

When Diz overhears Dave and Angela talking about her upcoming story coverage of a celebrity wedding, she mistakenly assumes that Dave and Angela are the ones getting married, in which Diz tells Hern who fears loosing his job to Angela, as well as Waldo who fears changes in studio working conditions. But things get more complicated when Diz decides to throw a surprise engagement party for Dave and Angela complete with a wedding cake and all.

When Diz thinks that today is Dave's birthday, she sets out with the rest of the gang to plan a surprise birthday party for him.

Dave's guest is an incompetent illusionist named Presto who tries to teach him and the gang how to, or more likely how NOT to, perform magic tricks.

When Dave and Hern leave to fly up north to Alaska on an excursion to search for the world's best Eskimo Pie, Diz remains behind to run the studio by herself and transforms the place, and the show, into one big music party.

Dave tries to help out a depressed Waldo, who never gets any mail, by doing a character makeover on him with the help of Lydia the Letter Carrier.

When Dave fails to show up to the studio, Diz decides to hire a substitute host for the day, only that it turns out that the "host" is a chimpanzee.

When Diz accidentally overbooks the studio into having a rock band record their latest music video, she, Dave, Hern, Angela and Waldo are mistaken for the band and are brought into the now unrecognizable set to prepare for their production number, despite that none of them know how to sing or play musical instruments.

Waldo tries to fix the Comedy Computer, Angela interviews Fannie Flash, the klutzy star of "Electra Woman," Dave goes to Kansas City in search of the best burger, Hern haunts a house, and Diz tells the story of Little Red Riding Hood.

Dave and the others try to help out Lem Blank, the man operating the laugh-track machine for the show, when he does not find the show, or anything else, to be funny anymore.

By using the Hurry Up Machine, Dave goes back in time to 16th-Century England and learns games there. A kid shows his pet brontosaurus to a stunned Angela. The show searches for the world's best taco and shows how not to build a go-cart.

Dave is hosting a worm contest at guess how many live worms are in a jar, but Hern accidentally destroys the envelope forcing Dave to do a protracted and grueling manual recount of the worms in the jar.

Noticing how tired and sluggish Dave is, Angela tries to get him and the others in shape by teaching an exercise class on the set. Diz, Hern and Waldo all despise it. An organ grinder chooses Dave to be his monkey.

Waldo accidentally creates a time capsule resulting in himself, Dave, Diz, Hern and Angela aging 50 years.
