Soman comes to his village after a few decades . No one recognizes him. He was born and raised there . His mother Ponnamma and father were simple folk. His father was waylaid and killed by Madhu ( a local Geese keeper ).
Soman returns as a painter to the same house .
Madhu befriends him without knowing his past .
Soman's only intention is to hurt Madhu and take vengeance on him.
He learns that Jayabharathi his daughter ( with Sharada) is the apple of his eye .
He befriends her and they have some steamy sessions together. He expects her to cry and wail with remorse . Surprisingly she brushes it off .
He tries various means to get back at Madhu . Finally one night again he wakes up JB and also mixes poison in the fodder of the geese .
Next morning , as expected all the geese die . Madhu is shocked and dismayed. Happy that he could finally hurt Madhu , Soman confesses and tells his back ground .
A big fight ensures between Madhu and Soman . Madhu dies in the end .
Bahadur , Madhu's right hand man leaves town with JB . When in the final scene Soman confesses his love to JB she refuses to come with him and goes with Bahadur leaving Soman full of remorse for his actions .
A poignant movie leaves us wondering who is right or wrong .
Sharada and Vidhubala come in small roles and leave an impact .
Over all an engaging movie .
