Two girls named Ami and Yumi that play in a band the bad Points are that Kass can be unlikable and greedy just like Mr Krabs from Spongebob Squarepants and some bad episodes like Julie amiyumi. But the theme song is catchy and not bad this is one of the best Cartoon Network shows from 2004 along with Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends.

Gets Better Every Season. Give it a chance.

Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi provides laughs far greater than those of any other cartoon on Cartoon Network. Its over-the-top animation and wacky plots make it what a cartoon should be.

Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi is the only cartoon that I watch on Cartoon Network anymore. Why? First off, the show introduced me to the band that would become my favorite: Puffy Ami Yumi. Their music is used cleverly throughout the show. Secondly, the show has a lot of humor that is simply not found in other Cartoon Network shows. Most shows have devolved into lame humor that relies on "fart jokes" that only dirty-minded children could enjoy. However, Puffy Ami Yumi seems to achieve its humor in a variety of ways, which range from its wacky and fun animation style to twisting clichés. Thirdly, the animation of Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi is far better than most cartoons today. People whine that it doesn't look realistic, but here's the thing- it's a cartoon. Cartoons are meant to be unrealistic and wacky. Many other cartoons bore me now simply due to their dull animation styles. Finally, the show has clever dialogue and the characters are designed very well in both looks and personality. Ami and Yumi's contrasting views often allow for a lot of humor. It's a shame this show is not more popular, but I suppose everyone just likes shows that make a stupid amount of references to sex nowadays. Some episodes are better than others, but most all of them are quite memorable. Give Puffy a chance, and it can brighten up any tough day.

    Uber-fun and wacky stuff.

The Beatles had their own cartoon in the 60's, Jackson 5 in the 70's, Kidd-Video in the 80's, and M.C. Hammer in the 90's with HAMMERMAN. Now there is HI HI PUFFY AMIYUMI, with their own cartoons. At the time when Godzilla was 50 with the release of GODZILLA FINAL WARS, I saw previews of this show. It looked like fun. So fun that it out shined THE POWERPFUFF GIRLS. Because at that time, I was losing interest to PPG do to the "PPG style" fashion trend. Ever since I watched this show since day one, I loved it and got glued to it. I not only laughed but learned Japanese. "Toktejama" means "Shut up". "Kora" means "Stop it" or "Cut it out". "Daskatey" means "Help". Before I ran into that show, Godzilla and other kaiju taught me Japanese. After I watched the show, I researched and listened to samples of other Puffy songs. This show introduced me to J-Pop (Japanese pop music). The way the character were designed, were trying to be anime, but it is 0% percent anime. It lampoons it. If you look at the J-Pop princess, they look anime-like, but they are not 100% anime. Kaz looks like as if he is created by Fujio Akatsuka (creator of TENSAI BAkABON). Now, just look at the other characters, like Blair, King Chad, Professor Marvelous, Teen-Team, and Harmony. The same goes to their pet cats Jen-Keng and Tekiai, and their dog, Dommo. The don't look like anime, they look like something off from our modern-day American wacky cartoons, that can make CODENAME: KIDS NEXT DOOR look like a Disney creation. At the beginning of the show after the opening sequence, you get to meet the girls, the live-action versions. The fool around with some shenanigans, or give the viewer a behind the scenes look at their day in the life, and on with the cartoon. Ami (voiced by Janice Kawayne, who did Jenny in MY LIFE AS A TEENAGE ROBOT) is this pink-haired girl who is sweet and nice, Yumi (voiced by Grey Deluise, who did the voice of Mandy in THE GRIM ADVENTURES OF BILLY AND MANDY)is this purple-haired girl who looks like a Gothic punk, and is sometimes nasty, and Kaz (voiced by Keone Young), who is modeled after their manager, Kaz Hadara, is a hilarious money- hungry manager, and hates two things, taking care of their cats and loosing his money. He is also their dysfunctional father-figure. The story lines in every episode are imaginative and wacky. Everybody is bashing this show on various message boards, but I find nothing wrong with this show. It is clean and hilarious. Well except the part where the Vampire rock-stars put glue-gunned the sandwiches for the opera-singers and when they ate them them their mouths were stuck and they can't sing. That freaked me out because if you attempt to do that, you will feel extreme pain and misery that it will scar you for life! All in all, this Flash- animated show taught me to do some thinking outside the box. Sadly, this show went off the air circa. June 2006. It was such a great show, and Cartoon Network pulled it off the air. Here are the reasons: Everybody was bashing the cartoon and were wondering why can't the girls themselves do their own voices. It got predictable (e.g. episodes like "Cats vs, Kaz", "Claw and Order", "A Harmony Cartoon", and "Spree"). No one bought their franchising. The concerts and albums were under-promoted. I mean for crying out loud, I would love to buy their albums and go to their concerts. I even saw them on the Macy's 2005 Thanksgiving Day Parade. Another reason, is the ratings went down. Why did the ratings went down? Here's why. This is because no one in America could not afford to get cable. My previous reasons on why people hated the show. Parents bickered constantly to their kids prohibiting them to watch TV (shows like that). This show, like INVADER ZIM and MY LIFE AS A TEENAGE ROBOT, had some episodes that aired in other countries, but not America. "Surf's Up" was said to air on December 31st 2004, but it got replaced by a rerun due to the tsunami incident in Thailand. Here the girls go surfing and a Tsunami leaves them lost at sea! This episode came on Comcast's Cartoon Network On Demand on May 2005. I was lucky I taped it! Bottom line: This show is fun for the entire family. Rated TV-Y7 for crude humor, comedic down-played violence, mischief, and all manner of wacky going-ons.

    Interesting

I was rather surprised when I found out the two women who sung for Teen Titains were getting their own cartoon show as well. Granted like most folks in the U.S, I've never heard of this band since its from out of country (the closest I've ever heard of J-Pop would be the Dance Dance Revolution machines). So I found it interesting as the show premiere came close (Checking it out at my Lowes movie theater helped as well).

Premise: Basiclly just a bunch of misadventures of the band's three member trio: the title characters Ami and Yumi (which from what I read in interviews, are based off the real life duo's more shining characteristics) and their tightwad money hungry manger, Caz, as they travel the road on their concert tour.

Its a cute show really with simple premises, situations and solutions all with a dose of the girl's music thrown in. However since the format for this show is short, most of the episodes end pretty corny and doesn't really give the stories a chance to flesh out more. Not to mention that you can see most of the resolutions coming a mile away. Still the character's personalities shine through and make the show worth watching as they stumble in and out of problems.

Art wise, very nice style. The creators or Puffy must of been fans of the game Parapper or Um Jammer Lammy cause the show reminds me of those video games and the art is very reminiscent. For those that haven't played those game, the style is simple line art, very abstract and colorful. Especially for a flash cartoon (2-D animation done mostly on computer). So good job here from the folks of Renegade.

As well as the sound section. As mentioned, the tunes are of course Puffy Ami Yumi songs with some usual cartoon play back. And the voice actors (which you may recognize as the main voices from Grim Adventures and Teenage Robot) do a nice job voicing the girls while mixing in some Japanese language (mainly when the two characters express surprise, get shocked or angry) and I love the dude who does Caz voice, the only one who seems to have an accent here.

And lets not forget the opening and closing segments with the real life Ami and Yumi. Though I think this is mostly from their show in Tokyo then down here. Still its cute and they don't take to long to lead in the cartoons.

Overall, a simple cartoon kids and teens might love, the older crowd might give a glance at. Would've been better if they can flesh out the problems more and use it as an opportunity for more humor. But they do well with the time they have. I don't know if the band will hit it off down, but anything possible and I wish all the luck for Puffy AmiYumi. Keep rocking girls!

The best show on CN ever

As you see, almost half of the people around here doesn't like it, and the rest like it. But trust me, it's a extremely good show.

I hate the recent shows released by CN, like Ben 10 and Juniper Lee. It's just plain boring. If you're going to watch a quality show, with a lot of background music, singing and humor, try this. It's the best TV-show you can ever get on CN. Fosters Home For Imaginary Friends is the second best show there, just in case you ask :) It's about a rocking group called 'Puffy Ami Yumi', and their 'wacky' adventures. Kaz is the greedy manager, Ami is the happy little optimist rocker and Yumi is the serious person.

Don't care about what other says. I mean, it's your opinion that counts for you. So, at least try to watch 2-3 episodes of this show before you judge it.

I didn't like it in the first time, because i thought it was a girl show. But after i gave the show a try, i loved it. And so should you.

So turn on you TV, look for the show and start watching it now. If you can't find it (Because it was canceled by CN), buy the DVD's or whatever you have to do to watch it.

Ami, Yumi, and Kaz speak in Japanese when they are upset, injured, or being shocked. Ami and Kaz's voice actors are Japanese. Yumi's voice actress learned how to speak some of the language in the series thanks to a language coach. This is also evident in the episode of The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy titled "My Peeps." Keone Young spoke fluent Japanese and Janice Kawaye spoke some Japanese.
