Shocking But True

I highly recommend this movie, as child abuse and its cover up has become ubiquitous in our society.This is a story of a brave family who not only endured sexual abuse, but the cover up by the Mormon Church and police.

The perpetrator in this film, after 40 years, still has not answered for his crimes, as they are treated as sins by the Mormon church."No Crime in Sin" is the amazing story of the perpetrator's family confronting him after 40 years.

The tide needs to be turned against child sexual abuse, and the awareness,"No Crime in Sin", brings to this issue will go a long way in saving children and families from the horrors of these crimes.

Really Well Done

This depiction of two sisters who were sexually abused by their father from a young age, and throughout their childhood, takes you on their journey for resolution. As they have grown to adulthood, and faced the wreckage that child sexual abuse leaves behind, they never got justice because their church protected their father, since he carried the priesthood. Watching their bravery, his actions in response, and the effect of taking some of their power back, was riveting. This documentary spotlights the toll, the heartbreak and the bravery it takes to survive childhood sexual abuse.

It's a tear jerker for sure

I don't want to post any spoilers in my review so I'll just say that this documentary falls into the "Travesties of Justice" category like, Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father. You will gasp and shake your fist at the screen.

This is a powerful film that couldn't have come at a better time, especially for an Exmormon community that is growing at an almost exponential rate and increasingly unwilling to tolerate complete simply because their leaders tell them to. Faithful lifelong members are leaving Mormonism in droves and church leaders seem almost deaf to the stampede for the exit.

Just as I remembered it!

I first met Christy and her family 40 years ago. I knew the family well and took religious classes from her father, as so many of us did in the Huntington Beach, CA area. I clearly remember when Christy first tried to tell her story as a teenager to expose her fathers evil acts and the extreme push back she received from the religious community and others. It was so tragic then as it is now for so many who have been abused. I am glad to see Christy and two of her siblings work so hard to find justice in their lives and give strength to others who have been abused to come forward, overcome and hopefully find peace that they all deserve. I was at the premiere, thanks to Christy's invite, and found the movie riveting, insightful and powerful.

A Searing Expose

The story is tragic, the determination of the adult survivors an inspiration. No Crime in Sin is an aptly titled view into the mindset of powerful religious institutions and the lengths they will go to justify evil. A must see for anyone wanting to live in the light.
