Recensioni in evidenza
I'm so glad that there is finally a series out there that shows us young adults in school, with all their terrible problems and the hard choices they have to make. Can you believe that a woman who needs a knife to cut her wrists so that she can use her blood as a knife has to fight to become a A-grade-superhero celebrity? Well, here is her story.
I have no doubt that the creators of the original IP are sitting at home and wonder: Why didn't I think of this? Why did I make the one true success story with superheroes since End Game by doing something different if I could have just used archetypes involved in story lines that feel like meme formats at this point and create something entirely forgettable?
I wonder if someone is going to fall in love?! Or maybe even have to potential boyfriens, like, in a triangle?! And will we ever see anybody doing actual, you know, school stuff, like reading? Can't wait!

The first episode of Gen V presents a promising start to the series. One standout element is the character of Marie, who possesses super creative powers and exhibits intriguing motivations and a cool backstory. Marie's portrayal as a true hero resonates with me, and her dialogue is notably unique, adding depth to her character. Additionally, her chemistry with Golden Boy is a highlight, demonstrating a strong dynamic between the two characters. However, I note that to form a more definitive opinion, further character development is required, leaving room for potential growth and exploration.
Gen V impressively captures the essence of the older section of Gen Z and young millennials, representing them in a way that feels authentic and true to life. It manages to navigate the fine line of depicting this demographic without succumbing to stereotypes or criticism, particularly with its realistic portrayal of modern college campuses.
The episode introduces a new layer to the Boys, setting the stage for potential developments that could spice up the storyline in a positive way. This injection of fresh perspectives and characters adds intrigue to the show's overarching narrative.
While the show occasionally veers into a tone reminiscent of CW series, I express my preference for it over that style. This suggests that Gen V successfully strikes a balance between familiarity and originality in its presentation.
However, the portrayal of Marie's relationship with Emma receives criticism from me. I find it unrealistic and reminiscent of fictional bonds like those in Harry Potter, lacking believability. The chemistry between them feels forced and not reflective of how individuals like them would interact in real life.
The side cast, including characters like Golden Boy and Andre, shows potential. Golden Boy's concept is intriguing, but I acknowledge the need for further exploration. Andre's character and powers are appreciated, but his likability is in question.
Despite some shortcomings, the episode sets a compelling stage for future developments in the series. It leaves me excited and eager to see how the story and characters will evolve.
In terms of humor, while the comedy in Gen V hasn't fully resonated with me, I recognize its potential and room for improvement. It may not have reached the comedic heights of other series, but there's hope for growth in this aspect.
Clancy Brown's character stands out as a potential compelling villain, provided the show continues to develop his character effectively.
The final act of the episode is a strong point, as it effectively sets up the overarching narrative of the series, leaving me with a sense of anticipation and curiosity.
In conclusion, the pilot episode of Gen V earns a respectable 7/10 rating from me. It showcases promising elements, including intriguing characters, an authentic representation of its target demographic, and a setup that piques my interest.

A pretty solid pilot actually.
This isn't some cheap spin-off like The Walking Dead Beyond the or Planet Sheen. It feels like like with The Boys as far as tone, feel and raunchiness goes. I think they've set up enough in these first two episodes to have me invested. The mystery seems really dark and bloody, and I do genuinely kind of like the characters so far.
Jaz's opening and backstory was quite tragic and kind of strange. She's a pretty likable lead. I think I'm going to like Emma quite a bit as well.
I'm most curious to see how they handle any satire. I think the very idea of a superhero college is pretty interesting and so far it isn't cringey or generic. I will say I don't think it's super funny so far, but that could change as it goes.
Good opening, I'll keep watching.

Very good so far, just about everything you'd expect from a The Boys spinoff, crudeness, humour, and violence and just dumb supe actions/consequences. All in all really enjoyed the first episode, also like how they the whole "them" thing....if it's gonna be forced on us then at least this isn't too jarring or insufferable as other shows.
Too summarize the main point of the first 290 or so characters that was my review I will now use the remaining 310 in that summary because without this summary apparently the first 290 characters was not enough, so in summary oh wait only 20 more characters le.

A really strong start to a show that I had low expectation of.
The trailers for the show felt poor and I was particularly worried that the Boys brand was being taken in a direction I wouldn't be a fan of. But with Amazon consistently producing the best superhero content in the tv space with Invincible and the Boys, I should have had more faith in them.
Where the Boys was a play on the Justice League/The Avengers, Gen V feels like a play on the X-Men and the school for gifted youngsters. I really like how we're shown a different side of the Boys universe and this is a great way to build the world. I'm a fan of the characters and there's a central mystery that has me invested. Also I'm surprised how many powers we see showcased, more so than the Boys, all of which are visually convincing. I find it funny that people are mad at the character which turns into a boy and girl (they don't understand satire).

- Quiz(~20 minutes into the episode) Justine (Maia Jae) is heard talking about a show she's about to star in, calling it "...a limited series on Vought Plus. It's an elevated superhero thing. Really a meditation on grief told through 70 years of sitcoms."
This is a reference to the Disney+ original show WandaVision (2021), which stars Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) as a superhero who's going through exactly what Justine is describing.
- BlooperDespite fighting with Golden Boy and being grappled and struck several times, Jordan's clothes aren't even singed when the fight ends.
