1Hr56 of My life, I'm not getting back

Terrible concept, poorly executed. There are no good performances and no redeeming qualities. Not even a good brainless action movie. You should be grateful that I took this bullet for you. Avoid. Big Game and London Has Fallen are better than this rubbish. If it's meant to be a spoof, it fails at that. You will regret watching this dross. It made me sad. Spend time with people who hate you instead, it will make you happier. Those involved should be embarrassed. The budget of this film could have been spent on repainting The Titanic or on JFK's new haircut. For the love of all that is good never let this happen again.

Idris Elba

My primary motivation for watching this film was Idris Elba's performance-admittedly, his presence is the only redeeming quality.

John, better known as a wrestler, struggles to convincingly embody his role, while Priyanka Chopra's character feels somewhat mismatched and underdeveloped for this particular genre. Unfortunately, Idris Elba truly carries the entire cast on his capable shoulders, highlighting the lacklustre ensemble effort.

The overall cast feels underwhelming, and the script appears rushed-like a hurried sprint to the finish line, packing in a barrage of action sequences that often feel gratuitous rather than justified.

The director and producer might benefit from a dose of fresh creativity; mimicking the high-octane style of the John Wick series has already been done-and done brilliantly. Recycling those elements without innovation results in a stale brew, rather than a compelling new concoction.

In essence, creativity remains the secret sauce in filmmaking. Without it, even the most talented actors and the most explosive action can't elevate a film from forgettable to unforgettable.

Hard to watch without fast forwarding

Surprisingly long movie for a slap stick comedy. Everything about it was awful.

The script is shocking. The required levels of incompetence and Deus ex machina for the story to unfold are off the charts.

The action scenes even manage to be boring, it's spectacular.

The dialogues are terrible. It's a comedy that doesn't take itself seriously, but also it's trying hard to be serious. The result is awful.

The villain is Russian, yet they chose a theater British actor, so he's as credible as if my grandmother were to fight John Wick.

This makes Michael bay movies feel like scorcese classics...

Mindless nonsense

Another film based on an overused, exhausted concept! I don't even have enough words to finish this review...

Terrible acting, zero logic, poor humour, and a colossal waste of funds on action that serves absolutely no purpose. This is a textbook example of projects sold on the backs of mainstream actors to OTT platforms purely to generate profit for those involved. Meanwhile, viewers are left with a headache, wondering how such rubbish continues to get made again and again.

John Cena and Priyanka Chopra simply can't act to save their lives, yet they somehow keep landing roles in big-budget films.

Unless you're in the mood for a pounding headache, do yourself a favour and stay far away from this disaster.

Phone it in

No effort was given in this movie whatsoever. The acting wasn't the worst, but the writing was. The directing wasn't good at all. The cinematography wasn't good. The storyline was one of the worst I've ever seen. They had really bad plots that could have been somewhat easily fixed. It was so unbelievable that it pulls you out immediately of the storyline. Like I said, there was huge plot holes that the writers didn't even try Amazon originals are some of the worst I've ever seen. As far as movies and television shows are concerned, I don't know that I'm going to watch another one. I do like the three main actors in this.

God Awful

I didn't think Amazon could make anything worse than G20 but they have, I mean they really have! The plot line of two antagonistic heads of state, Elba and Cena, dropped (literally out of the sky) into hostile territory and a convoluted tech plot involving the end of NATO is utter nonsense and plays out so badly it's a cringe. Firstly it just doesn't seem to know what it wants to be, it's billed as a comedy but isn't funny but also has some pretty visceral violence (in a James Bond kind of a way) that doesn't sit well within the narrative. Which brings us to the narrative itself, at a basic level it makes no sense and has no continuity, just a series of set pieces which in themselves make no sense and as in so many of these types of film there is no consideration of the collateral damage that would have been caused to real people. Secondly, the cast; there is absolutely nothing going on between Cena and Elba which is a key requirement for a buddy movie, both are fairly adequate usually but here nothing, Cena can generally be quite charming but it's very thin here and Elba is just a grump. In the supporting roles Chopra Jonas repeats her role in Citadel only worse and her girl boss outshooting dozens of allegedly trained mercenaries and beating them to a pulp is ludicrous. Why Considine is in this crap I have no idea, the cheque I imagine because there is no other logical reason for him to be there. Direction? There isn't any. Any good AD could have done better. Awful. Even though it's free don't waste your time.

Russian Hacker

A Russian Ilya Naishumer makes a movie about a joke-American president and a drunk-British prime minister and kills of Sharlto Copley, the main actor from Hardcore Henry who made his movie and him famous, in the first minutes. He makes a funny movie when simultaneously saying that he doesn't care about Western audiences providing entertainment at the expense of disrespecting his actual country's adversaries. This movie is a good example of Russian propaganda and the fact that it was actually made is a good commentary on the state of things in the industry and the intellectual clarity of participating actors.

Pathetic is an understatement

Endured 30m after reading the amazing reviews here. For me this was a typical mind numbing dumb american movie which unfortunately gets made ever so often. The dialogues are so urghh and the scenes are mostly buffoonery in motion.

Earnestly request people not to go near this one. The President and the Prime Minister are the worst of the lot unlike the reviews.

Pathetic is an understatement.

Dont watch it

Heads of State attempts to position itself as a high-octane action-comedy, blending political intrigue with big-budget spectacle and A-list casting. Unfortunately, what could have been an entertaining genre mashup turns out to be an astonishingly disjointed and underwhelming experience. With poor acting, an embarrassingly weak script, and dialogue that borders on cringe-worthy, this film manages to waste not only its premise but also the talent involved.

From the opening scene, the film feels like it's trying too hard - and failing at every step. The plot, which tries to combine elements of espionage, government conspiracy, and buddy comedy, lacks any sense of coherence or originality. Instead of being clever or compelling, it falls back on clichés and lazy tropes. There's nothing fresh or surprising about the storyline, and the pacing, which should feel taut and energetic, is instead flat and meandering.

One of the biggest letdowns of Heads of State is the acting. Across the board, performances feel phoned in or, worse, completely out of sync with the film's intended tone. The actors seem as confused by the script as the audience is. It's hard to blame them entirely - with material this poor, there's only so much that even seasoned performers can do.

Priyanka Chopra in particular, stands out - but not in a good way. Her performance feels disconnected, forced, and awkward, making it difficult to understand her character's purpose or motivation. Given her talent and global recognition, it's surprising to see her deliver such an unconvincing portrayal. Whether it's the fault of the direction, the script, or a combination of both, her appearance in this film does no favors to her filmography.

The script itself is, quite frankly, a mess. Dialogue is one of the film's weakest elements - it's unnatural, unfunny, and at times painfully amateur. Attempts at humor fall flat, and moments that are meant to be dramatic end up unintentionally comedic. There's no emotional resonance or character development to latch onto. We're never given a reason to care about the characters or their outcomes, making the entire film feel hollow and purposeless.

Even the action sequences, which are typically the saving grace of poorly written films, are uninspired. There's a distinct lack of imagination in the choreography and set pieces, which feel derivative and bland. In a movie like this, where story and characters fall short, the expectation is that the visuals at least will entertain - but *Heads of State* fails here too.

Another glaring issue is the complete misuse of the cast. With the level of talent assembled, one would expect at least some standout moments. Instead, it feels like the actors were given minimal direction and asked to carry scenes that simply weren't working. It's frustrating to see capable actors struggling to breathe life into lifeless material.

Ultimately, *Heads of State* is a film that doesn't seem to know what it wants to be. It tries to juggle political satire, action, and buddy-comedy elements but ends up collapsing under the weight of its own confusion. The result is a movie that feels long, aimless, and, unfortunately, forgettable.

In a time when audiences crave smart, well-crafted stories - especially in the political thriller or action-comedy space - Heads of Stateis a reminder that a big budget and recognizable cast can't compensate for a weak foundation. It's a missed opportunity and a clear example of how not to execute a genre-blending film.

Rating: 1/5 A disappointing misfire that squanders its potential on bad writing, poor performances, and directionless storytelling.

How many more variations of the same movie will they push on us?

I'm sick and tired of those spy-themed action-comedies. Enough is enough. The well is dry now, folks.

The opening scene was well-orchestrated and I watched it the way you watch a football game. Puns, surprises, murders... Then came the PM of the UK and the POTUS. A laughably false definition of what NATO actually is, something no decent father would tell their own daughter, not even if he is supposed to keep up with the lie as a professional politician.

And then I stopped watching it. I remembered how much I dislike John Cena for being nothing other than a puppet of the Hollywood machine. For getting into shapes and forms that are devoid of any actual meaning. Idris Elba is okay for me but no, I wouldn't spend hours watching these two do again what was already done in Pixels the movie.

Yeah, 15 minutes was enough for me to understand that the re-packaging was only skin deep, and the movie was just like Knight and Day and other lame spy stories that base themselves on what is essentially a very, very dishonest notion of how the world is governed.

If I were Martin Scorsese, I'd say "that's not cinema" with regards to this particularly toxic and sugarcoated genre before criticizing mainstream superhero movies.

If you are aged between 15-20, and have no idea how many great movies have been made, some of which seriously cover the world of espionage (Three Days of the Condor), some of which do justice to the humor to be found in it (True Lies), then yes, the gimmicks and the pace with such "products" can amuse you.

I just think audiences deserve better.

totally Dumb - didn't know if i was supposed to laugh! dumb

Heads of State - Shaky Attempt at Political Satire That Misses the Mark Why You Shouldn't Waste Your Time!!!!!

I'll start with the truth: I couldn't finish Heads of State. That should tell you something right away. I gave it more than a fair shot sat through the awkward pacing, the painfully obvious jokes, and the cringeworthy presidential caricature but in the end, this film just wasn't worth the time.

On paper, Heads of State may have seemed promising. The premise had potential a modern political satire trying to blend action, comedy, and commentary on global leadership. It could have been something sharp, insightful, or at least funny. But instead, what we got was a confusing, bloated mess of clichés and failed impersonations, with dialogue that tried too hard and performances that often felt like parodies of parodies.

Let's talk about the so-called U. S. President in the film. Whoever wrote or directed this role must have just mashed up clips of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Gavin Newsom and called it a day. It was as if the writers couldn't decide whether they were spoofing an over-the-top action star or a polished, media-trained politician. The result? A bizarre blend of machismo and smugness, with very little actual substance. His lines were painfully forced, and there was nothing believable or compelling about his presence. Every time he was on screen, I felt pulled out of the film.

Sam Clark, however, was the one saving grace. He brought some actual charisma to his role he felt grounded even in the midst of chaos. Clark had this rare ability to act like he knew what movie he was in, even if nobody else seemed to. His timing was solid, and he had a few genuinely engaging moments. If anyone deserved better writing and direction, it was him. In a different movie, Clark could've carried the whole thing.

The rest of the cast? Forgettable. Most of the supporting roles felt like background noise there only to fill the screen, not to contribute anything meaningful. You can tell when a film tries to fake cleverness by throwing in pop-culture references, random tech gadgets, and empty monologues about "duty" and "honor." This movie had all of that, but none of the impact.

The editing was choppy, the plot had no momentum, and the supposed "twists" were more eye-roll-inducing than exciting. It felt like every scene was just a setup for another bad punchline or an underwhelming action sequence that relied more on shaky camera work than any real choreography.

By the time I tapped out and yes, I did stop watching before the end. I felt like I had wasted not just my time, but also my brain cells. The film tries to be edgy, political, and humorous, but it ends up being none of those things. It just becomes noise.

So do yourself a favor. If you're scrolling and come across Heads of State, scroll right past it. Your time is better spent watching a documentary, rewatching a favorite classic, or honestly just staring at the wall.

Sam Clark deserves better.

Rating: 1.5 out of 5 - and that .5 is for Sam Clark alone.

Garbage

If you're looking for a good movie to watch, this is not it.

Do not waste your time. Staring at a wall is more interesting.

Trust me, I'm saving your time... The trailer is the best part. But even then the trailer doesn't make you want to check it out. Why are all the movies terrible lately?

That dude Priya is not only a horrible person, she's also a very bad actress.

Can't believe she gets these roles, and we are supposed to believe she can kill people john wick style, no sorry it doesn't work.

No humour, action scenes are boring, too much politics.. It should've been more like Big Game with Samuel L. Jackson.

When GARBAGE isn't a sufficient descriptor

I would just a full-on mentally deficient person wrote this script. The American President is depicted as an ignorant buffoon who couldn't find his way out of a paper bag. The British Prime Minister is a knight in shining armor, eternally wiser. American and British "intelligence" are equally stupid. A small Russian operation is able to take both countries apart like it was child's play. At every turn, the BS factor is amplified non-stop. The women are always wiser, more intelligent, more capable, easily more qualified. The audience has to be presumed equally idiotic, because really only an idiot would entertain such a lazily written movie. If you like being punched in the face "out of respect", then make it a 2-hour affair and watch the movie!
