I really have no idea what I'm watching.
I heard Rashida talk about this show on a Conan O'Brien podcast, so I thought I'd give it a watch.
I like to watch new shows anyway, so why not.
Right from the get go it's disjointed, and doesn't make much sense.
Rashida plays the typical, rude and crude, angry American who refuses to assimilate to the Japanese culture, and talks down to everyone. Completely embarrassing!
Sunny the robot is so stupid, cheap looking, and cheesy.
We're on episode 8 and still trying to put together all the pieces to this story.
The only thing remotely interesting is the involvement of the Yakuza, but don't get your hopes up.
I'll see it through as I've already made it this far, but if you're looking for a great story, great writing, and amazing acting, this isn't the show for you.

What started out as an interesting plot quickly turned into a truckload of filler dialogue in a foreign language (with no subtitles)... that puts you in the position of being a simple observer of the scenery.
While Rashida was doing her best, the functionaries in the picture were doing their minimum.
Confusing is the best way to describe this series and it is generous to say it is worth your time. Figure out how many hours you could have spent on something productive--like estimating the I. Q. for a ton of shale or shaving a wolverine with a pair of nail clippers.
This series has used up 9 episodes so far and they are disjointed, unintelligible and a waste of production equipment and personnel.

After two episodes I am really struggling with this. First of all the whole thing has the feel that it is mostly filmed in a studio. It is quite dark and although I find it hard to put my finger on it, it has a slight claustrophobic feel about it. While the premise is interesting, so far it is fairly boring. It doesn't help that I'm struggling to like any of the characters particularly the leading lady. I understand her husband and son are missing presumed dead so she is not going to be overly cheerful but rather than feeling sorry for her, I just don't like her. It doesn't help that she is totally incapable of expressing herself without using the F word which is repeated almost every other sentence. As far as the robot is concerned it likewise is not particularly sweet or endearing, plus credulity is stretched by its ability to travel long distances on its own with just small wheels. How does it get over curbs or up stairs etc and one point gets in bed? As I said a good premise but as you can tell it is just not doing it for me I'm afraid.
Just finished the first two episodes. The first episode was average, which I thought might be because of the introduction and buildup, so I expected the second episode to be better, but I found it boring. This show is trying too hard to look clever with the side stories and sci-fi stuff, but many aspects don't make sense, like the robot (Sunny) remembering something and saying it had a dream. Since when can robots dream? I am not sure if they mentioned which year they are living in. I didn't find the show engaging or the characters likable. The things that I found good were: the duration of each episode is 35 minutes, the robot is super awesome, especially its voice which is so cute, and Rashida was a good choice for the lead role.
I will be skipping it as it's not that interesting, and I didn't like the second episode.

I hate watched the last 7 episodes thinking it would get better. In typical A24 fashion it was weird just to be weird and by weird I mean confusing. I'm a fan of their projects as much as the next person but this just felt like a monumental waste of time. Any success that this show has is hinged on the A24 title and Rashida Jones though she plays a completely unsympathetic character. I should have let this one go much sooner. They have a lot of explaining to do with this story. In the end there's just a lot of questions that i don't care if they ever answer. I don't know what else to say aside from don't waste your time and Apple TV can and has done better.
