The Pikemen

When a group of vigilantes begin a crusade against those who have not received adequate sentences for their crimes (or no sentences at all), they begin to play fast and loose with the law. As Jack begins to investigate the death of the son of an old friend, he tangles with these guys and some other bad characters. He also meets a charming young man who is enthralled with our silent hero. He wants to be Taylor's assistant and becomes a bit of a pain. He is also very enterprising. This is extremely well done. Jack takes another brutal beating and comes close to death. His injuries make him less than formidable in the end. There is a plot line involving the leader of the revenge seeker and the son of one of them. This works very well. I wonder if there ever was talk of this series going on.

I watched all the Jack Taylor films and I have concluded that the Pikemen Murders is my favorite. The story is much more exciting than the first. Iain Glen's performance is brilliant as he plays the ever drunk but brilliant Jack Taylor. It's not easy playing such a charismatic alcoholic but it's so hard not to like him. The character development is much more detailed but not a drag to watch. Cody is my favorite addition to the show, he adds a bit comic relief that wasn't in The Guards. Without giving away any spoilers, watch it, if you're an Iain Glen fan and you won't regret it, but even if you're not, it's a good watch on a rainy day. :)
