Part Two: Den of Spies

This was a good primer episode on how Iran really tipped over, which was more by U. S. meddling and mismanagement of the Shah by SIS and CIA, along with the Red Scare gripping the U. S. back then.

There is a lot of justification I never thought of, which was the fact Iran and the government (Shah) at the time was the biggest and closest by geography ally of the U. S. to go against the Soviets, which I never really thought of. It was more ally by proximity to the USSR other than anything else. Almost like the country was a forward operating base in case the cold war turned hot.

You see in this episode how both the fear of oil supply and the USSR attacking is what really drove U. S. cooperation with the Shah in Iran, and is what caused the CIA/SIS to do a sloppily job of managing the leader (i.e. Turned a blind eye to the Shah's abuse of power and material excess) and not finding a better suitor for the country, causing the revolutionaries to come in.
