Can someone advise where the 'good' in this film was?

Horrendous

I watched this movie because it has a 7.3 score on IMDB. IMDB scoring never disappointed me up until now. The plot is shallow with poor acting and so many plot holes. I almost fell asleep two times during the movie's "most suspense" moments. Totally predictable and therefore boring. There seem to be an attempt or two where the plot twist tries to save the movie, but it got burried by cringeworthy dialogues and unnecessary violence. Characters don't have any development and it looks like a highschool project. The only good thing in this movie are the outfits of the characters. That's about it. Personally, I would never recommend this to anyone.

ARTIFICIAL UNINTELLIGENCE

Everything evolves but I think movie producers are like Religious zealots who maintain one concept Art shld evolve with time, with it, one's work shld stimulate the mind based on the how much cinema has evolved.

But lately it seems like producers don't even put effort in a story.

A. I lately is hot take but every execution is so absurdly executed to a point you wonder are we the creators of A. I?

Sophisticated programme, easily broken, easily manipulated.

With such intelligence you believe there is a state of the art safety protocols to avoid fraud, breach of security etc.

But no, the producers throw all that out the window to force the storyline.

Eventually it's just a normal story with an android/cyborg or whatever the sEggs toys are called.

This movie has so many plot holes you literally need to drop your IQ.

And take the story as is and ignore the Artificial Intelligence aspect of it.

Lack of character development. Repetitive jokes

This could have been good with a few more passes at the script. The same jokes were made several times. I literally predicted most of the ending. I didn't believe the core group were actually people that had known each other or were friends in any way. I'm personally not in love with jack quad as a lead and could not help but continuing to picture other people that would have been better in the role - but I guess the plague of the Nepobaby is here to stay. The lead actress is okay- but again very predictable after watching her for a while. The male friend did his best but wasn't given much to work with.

Unending plot holes..

I genuinely don't understand how this was rated so high and I'm not trying to be a hater for no reason. It just wasn't that good at all..

Super Cheesy set up with no payoff... Tons of plot holes where things just happened for the sake of it happening..

Not even remotely unique. Was hoping for something different from your typical AI/Human like robot film. Same ol' plot with the same ol' uninspired twist.

Wouldn't recommend honestly unless you're just bored and want to watch a dumb flick to pass time for some laughs.

It's still a bit shocking how highly this was rated.. Just another circumstance of not being able to trust reviews.

really unintelligent

Companion 2025 was marketed as a gripping, futuristic tale delving into the complexities of artificial intelligence-but what we get instead is a hollow, uninspired story dressed in sci-fi clothing. The plot is disappointingly shallow, revolving around a conventional narrative of love and betrayal, with AI simply used as a cosmetic backdrop. There's no meaningful exploration of AI ethics, consciousness, or innovation. The characters might be machines, but the story could easily exist without the tech angle. Repeating the term "AI" doesn't make it a genuine AI film. It's a missed opportunity wrapped in glossy visuals.

Ugliness of Humanity

So, AI robots, sex-bots, or companions exist. And humans are the vile ugly elements still messing up the world. Watching this left me with even more concerns about humanity, the despicable nature inherent in so many of us, and the sad obnoxious expectation that too many people feel they are deserved. Yuck.

As a movie, it is well designed for the visual production, acting is high, and the idea is half intriguing. Unfortunately, the the overall plot is a basic crude story of greed. And selfishness. And egocentrism. How boring is the concept that humans are filth. Somehow, as we advance with AI, the films that are telling this story are becoming more mundane and basic as the present of chosen ignorance of American society is now more the focus.

Typical Hollywood garbage

Why does every movie have to involve an over the top rich character or a multi million home? Why does meeting friends equal a bunch of characters that act like they barely know each other? Hollywood has always been out of touch but they at least attempted show real life.

Let's go to cabin in the woods and bring our formal dresses. Let's all dance in the living room because that what friends do at cabins.

What happened to movies with normal people having normal incomes?

Who drinks straight vodka in the morning?

Who rubs lotion like that? Oh of course a morning rape scene.

This is as far as I got before I turned this crap off.

Garbage that I look forward to forgetting

Another film that's designed to demonize heterosexual relationships. 70% of the movie is about glorifying homosexuality and he other 30% is spent bashing heterosexuality.

The gay robot and his "partner" have true love while the heterosexual robot and her "boyfriend" have a one sided relationship where she's just seen as a sex object to be controlled.

I feel like too many of these movies are written by people in the lgbt community trying to demonize heterosexual relationships. They're like movies where the heterosexual couples are such caricatures of internet memes and lingos.

This must be the 5th or 6th movie I've seen like this. Where they pedestal homosexuality as true love and display heterosexuality as turbulent, violent and manipulative.

These all seem to come from the same place of some man trying to have complete control over his female partner. Where she has no will or rights of her own etc. I have never seen a relationship like that outside of the internet. Usually in reality it's the woman trying to control the man and use him to get whatever she can out of him.

So from the perspective of realty I don't get these types of films that demonize heterosexual relationships. It's like if someone who had never been in love or a relationship made a movie based on what the internet told them. That's what this film is like.

As for the movie it's shallow. The acting is cheesy and the plot is as bad as it comes. Sophie Thatcher is pretty and holds your attention. The rest of the film is just bleh. I have seen enough movies about some egotistical male villain trying to be possessive of the female lead. When does this even happen in real life?

This movie wreaks of feminism and lgbt agendas and it outshines whatever robot ai plot packaging they tried to wrap it in. I e sincerely had enough of movies demonizing heterosexuality.

I didn't like it...

The story of the movie was unfortunately spoiled from the very beginning, which really took away any sense of suspense or excitement. It felt like the major plot twist or reveal was just handed to us on a silver platter before we even got a chance to settle into the narrative. On top of that, the acting didn't do much to redeem it-most of the performances felt flat and uninspired, like the actors themselves weren't fully convinced by the script.

What's frustrating is that the core idea of the movie actually had a lot of potential. There was something there-a spark, a concept that could've turned into something really compelling if it had been handled with more care and creativity. With better direction, tighter writing, and a cast that could really bring the characters to life, this could have been a much stronger film. Instead, it just kind of fizzled out.

Lame

Sorry I don't understand the great reviews. I was intrigued and then bored out of my mind. It was filmed beautifully but the story is camp and predictable... I would never watch it again or recommend it to anyone. I didn't even chuckle at the "comedy". Subservience starring Megan Fox was more entertaining and surprising. I suppose the hype is based off the leading lady from Yellow Jackets. She is quite one dimensional. Snooze fest. I would skip. I really wanted to like this film but it just didn't do it for me. Wasted time I will never get back. They tried to make it emotionally charged and again missed the mark. Spend your time wisely. It's priceless!
