All the other criticisms levelled by other reviewers are correct. Virtually all the candidates looking for romance are at least somewhat emotionally stunted, scarily narcissistic (although sub-clinically so) and xenophobic.
But that's what makes it great entertainment (if you watch it at at least 1.25 speed, avoiding the filler and repititions). These are anthropological/sociological case studies, not romances and as such they are as fascinating as they are cringe.
All of these humans have a script in their heads of what a relationship should look like as well as stereotyped, fetishized ideas of how their foreign dates look and behave. Watching them flail about and cluelessly try to impose their scripts on these (relatively) innocent strangers they just met is like watching a train-wreck.
Also, some of them grow up a little. Not nearly as neatly or completely as the show's producers would have you believe, but when they do, it's genuinely uplifting. The journey of Harold and Michaela reminds you that at least a small minority of humans are capable of growth (and that not all Americans are insufferable).

The show follows several people who have decided to look for love outside the USA. They use matchmakers who are local to the countries where they're looking for love. We watch them iron out the kinks and navigate the dating scene while trying to understand a variety of matches who may or may not understand what they're talking about. It sounds confusing because it is. I found myself wondering if anyone took the time to find out about the cultures of the countries they are trying to find a mate in. The major thing I cant figure out is how they intend to communicate once the matchmakers are gone. Very entertaining at times in a Jerry Springer kind of way.
There is so much wrong with the characters in this show, I don't know where to begin. I have watched 4 episodes of this series, and after the first two, I can tell you, almost every single one of them have some deep personality defect that prevents them from having any kind of normal relationship. They can't even carry on simple conversations, are egotistical to the extreme, are totally delusional about what people from another country outside the US are wanting in a mate. I hate how they keep pushing the narrative that foreign men and women are better than Americans. No. No one from anywhere wants goofballs, stupid, selfish people or naïve rubes for mates.
Seriously how did anyone say "Match Me Abroad" and not get laughed at out of the room? Referring to a woman as a broad might have flown 60 plus years ago but... If this is what Hollywood has to offer without SAG and the Writer's Guild then Hollywood should fall into the Pacific only to be reborn wherever the talent disappeared to.
It's actually pretty offensive. They are looking for a complete narrow view of what men and women from their respective country of choice are actually like. They are looking for a complete stereotype! It's actually pretty offensive and adds to the overall awkwardness of the show.

This show is extremely cringey and uncomfortable to watch! It has potential to be entertaining but misses the mark. Maybe if the producers spent some time showing the sites and scenery of the amazing countries and cities that are singles are spending time in, it would distract from how completely socially inept and icky they are. It's also completely laughable how the American singles have such a narrow view of what men and women from their respective country of choice are actually like. They are looking for a complete stereotype! It's actually pretty offensive and adds to the overall cringey awkwardness of the show.
