Painfully Generic!

It pains me to write this review. I'm a massive Art The Clown fan. I own roughly a thousand dollars worth of Memorabilia and I have seen all of the films and even helped fund the second film which also happens to be my favorite horror movie of all time that I gave a 10 out of 10. I suppose with all of that said I'll start my review. Terrifier 3 felt woefully bland. Most of it was just pure shock for shock sake if that makes sense. It was extremely rushed and the time skipping in the beginning was meh. Even the mannerisms of David Howard Thornton didn't feel as lively and creative as the second movie. I will say that there were some LOL moments for sure that were Absolutely Hilarious and some cool kills, but none of the Awesome sets from the second movie made a return like the Dream Sequence that Sienna had in the second movie and the Funhouse at the end of the second movie. It was a fun movie, but the creative direction by Damien Leone seems to have faltered in the third movie. I hope that he gets back on track with the fourth and fifth films, but as it stands this movie while entertaining and gory and vile at certain parts also felt tedious, boring and repetitive.

Cool gore and guts but that's all!!

Well ..i know these kind of slasher/gore/guts movies like Terrifier/Winnie the pooh: Blood and Honey/In a violent nature etcetera were not supposed to be oscar worthy in matter of acting, but oh boy..the acting in this one is mediocre at best!

The movie is long: a little bit over 2 hours, has lots and lots of blood and gore, the practical effects are very decent but i rrrreaally wanted a little more convincing acting from the actresses/actors! It has comedy, some funny moments from the Art..who by the way, he is the only good thing at acting, even if the dude doesn't speak a word, but his non verbal actions are eye candy!! Well..if you like lots of brutal deaths, blood and gore and guts, this movie is definitely for you! It's kind of a.. guilty pleasure!! 5/10 from me for the Art and for the brutality!

Getting a little goofy

Alright D, we are starting to steer too far from the first Terrifier movie which was awesome, given the fact that Terrifier 2 is probably my favorite due to it's amazing creativity, the first Terrifier movie in my opinion was still the best written, In the first Terrifier David Howard Thornton had the perfect balance of serious and goofy, even in Terrifier 2 (my favorite) the balance hadn't quite been shifted too far and it fit in, Now after seeing Terrifier 3, I noticed that he is getting a little too goofy, and the story is starting to remind me of where the stupid Leprechaun movies ended up going, Mr. Leone please don't take us to "Outer Space" or "Da' Hood"

Once again entertaining for slasher fans, but promoted as bigger and more brutal than it actually is.

Terriifier 3 is the third film in the Terriifier series. This third part was again conceived and written by Damien Leone, who also conceived and wrote the systematic Terriifier films.

Art the Clown (David Howard Thornton) makes a return before and during the Christmas holidays and has many sadistic plans to share with his victims.

When Sienna (Lauren LaVera) hears the news of many victims who are brutally murdered, she is certain that Art the Clown is behind it. After her stories of having them beheaded, she is declared crazy and therefore not believed. So she tries to prepare herself for Art's return and she has to protect her family before they fall prey to Art the Clown and his sadistic murderous ways.

After the financial and fan success of the selected films, many major film studios have shown interest in financing and strengthening these new and future new Terriifier films. Damien Leone has enough of all these studios, because he thinks that they do not find the brutal, sadistic actions of Art the Clown acceptable in the front of new films from their studios and so he has stayed with the original studio.

So with this third film he again provides new, creative ways in which the murderers torture and eventually kill their victims. So this is another entertaining film for slasher horror fans. Due to the promotion, the film is only sold as a more brutal and sadistic version of the distributed Terrifier films, but this can be a bit disappointing in comparison.

Also, too much happens, which means that Art the Clown and Sienna sometimes end up in the background and are more overshadowed by other characters. Fortunately, Art and Sienna still manage to portray their roles in familiar, but also creative new ways.

Not scary only gory

This may have been the most grotesque, disgusting movie I've ever seen. Worse than the saw movies for sure. It's really unnecessary too and doesn't add anything to the movie. I enjoyed the costume and theme. But the acting made it a total disappointment as well. It's also pretty distasteful and doesn't have much of a horror atmosphere. More of a preppy/mainstream type deal. Also, that knife and chainsaw fight scene was ridiculous and so unrealistic. If that's what you enjoy, then go for it. I personally just didn't care for it outside of the terrifier character design and effects. I don't recommend seeing it unless you just want gore. 80% of the movie is just blood and guts flying all over. Not really much thought going into it.

It does not cut it!

Terrifier 3 didn't quite hit the mark for me. The shift to a Christian theme felt out of place, and the use of firearms and explosives-like pistols and bombing-just didn't feel true to the Terrifier vibe. Chainsaw killings? It felt more Texas Chainsaw than Terrifier. The most creative weapon choice, liquid hydrogen, has already been done in other movies, making it feel somewhat predictable.

What made the earlier films memorable was the distinctive gore and slasher creativity, but here, it just didn't have the same punch. As always, dialogue and plot aren't the series' strong points, but at least the earlier installments had more unique, gritty moments that felt inspired.

At two hours, this felt like a drawn-out cash grab rather than a true homage to the horror genre. It's hard not to feel disappointed that it seemed more focused on profit than bringing anything fresh or meaningful to fans of the genre. If you're a die-hard gore fan, you may enjoy some moments, but don't expect it to capture the spirit of its predecessors.

Art the clown is back with a poor story

I have watch everything from Art the Clown even before the Terrifier 1,2 and 3. Must say that I like the character but this time, I just don't get it. The movie is better filmed for sure but the plot is empty. Also, if I think of Terrifier 2, it was more funny. I didn't laugh much with this third movie. Gore yes for sure! But when we can resume a movie just for that, its not good. Terrifier 3 is overrated in my opinion. Check the score for movies like Evil Dead, The Exorcist, Brain Dead and try to understand the score of this one... I Like I said, you want a gory movie with weird stuffs ok. But of you expect a bit more. Like why he is doing it? How he really became Art the Clown?

So overall, its a not so mainstream movie that succeed but for horror fan that prefer strong story, don't waste your time.

100x better than the 2nd one

Terrifier 2 is one of the most boring films I've ever seen. It's 150 minutes and maybe 60 mins are actually violent horror scenes, the rest is awful acting, pathetic dialogue and cheap cinematography.

Terrifier 3 still has awful acting and dialogue, but the ratio of Art to non-art scenes is monumentally better. Here, art is probably in line 70% of the flick. Plus the cinematography and gore effects are so much better and the kills are far more inventive.

I'm genuinely stunned by how Terrifier 2 thought that any of its paper thin nothing characters were supposed to keep audience interest, but it looks like they've rectified that. The director now understands that he isn't good at writing or story ideas, he makes basic "spooky clown with a chainsaw" scenes for TikTok tweens, but this film actually delivers. Words can't describe how much better than the 2nd movie this one is.

... Not as good as the first one. A bit better than the second.

Now hear me out ... Slashers are not for everyone but i find them relaxing and exciting at the same time.

Things like texas chainsaw massacre, friday 13, house of wax and so on .... You know exactly what you gonna get.

Terrifier 1 was pure genius. Simple, fast and so gory that it was enough to shock everyone and they managed to do so with a small budget.

Then I was a bit disappointed with Terrifier 2 and Terrifier Horror stories (or smthng like that) ....

The 3rd is supposed to have a bigger budget... It's not bad but it's wayyyyy too much. And also, it's too bloody but in a cartoonish way. It doesn't feel real. Sorry if i Shock you but yes.... I expect it to feels real.

So now people die but it feels like a bad parody like Scary Movies 1.2.3.4.5 ..... (Especially the girl fisting herself with a shattered glass)

So if you watch it beware ... You gotta love blood. It's funny with friends drinking beer... But it's not a great movie.

I paid 5euro for it and I have regrets ......

Not enough Art's art

Let's get real here: everybody watches this "serial" because Art and his "mischief" and not "self reflections", "deep thoughts", "finding reasons" and so on. There's a feeling here that Mr. Leone tried to build up some kind of story (since 3rd follows the events from 2nd), but it ultimately takes better part of the whole "Art show", making the movie boring. Yes, some carnage is inserted (almost randomly and just to interrupt the other "protagonists' stream of thoughts") but really makes no sense (except as an exercise in "what can be done if...". When it's not a yawn fest, it's really good and dynamic (which is, after all, expected from this series). So, the 2nd is still better than the rest, and this one could have been 1/2 hour shorter, but with "more gore". Mr. Thornton was born for this and is funtastic. Other performances are correct, as well as technical and artistic aspects. Still high above the average, but needs more (no, not cowbell) Art and his art.

The art of the deal

I admire the little engine that could, really I do. The ability of any low budget independent film to cross over into the mainstream as much as "Terrifier 3" has done has to be applauded. It's an inspirational story for anyone that wants to make a movie. I say this preface because again, as with the two previous entries, I didn't enjoy this very much.

Sienna Shaw (Lauren LaVera) is released from an institution and moves in with her aunt, uncle, and niece Gabbie (Antonella Rose) who idolises her. Her release coincides with the reactivation of Art the Clown (David Howard Thornton) after five years sat in a mansion due to be demolished. Art, now an icon after news of the Miles County Massacres spread, begins the now traditional murder spree, accompanied by the body of Victoria Heyes (Samantha Scaffidi) which is possessed by the spirit of the Little Pale girl. Already beset by guilty hallucinations, Sienna struggles to believe that she is free of Art and tries to warn a concerned and disbelieving family that he is coming.

To be open, and I gave this same note in my review of "Terrifier 2", I like gory horror films. None of my issues with the series stem from squeamishness or an objection at seeing kids butchered - which the films leans into that pretty quickly. My problem has previously been with the lack of "rules" within the film. Is Art a human or not, why is he invulnerable, does he actually have a goal or does he just like killing? To this films credit, and why I liked it better than "Terrifier 2" this one does try and explain some of it - to weave the strange elements we've seen previously into a tied together lore. Also, to the films credit, the practical effects are really well done, and the acting performances aren't universally terrible - though perhaps still mostly terrible.

For all it's chainsaw swinging, ice gun spraying, eaten by rats fun, most of the time I was more bored than anything else. It still lacks a proper story and is, at times, as narratively abrupt as it is meandering at others.

All that said, I'll be back for "Terrifier 4".

Santa Art is Coming to (massacre the) Town

There's a peculiar (r)evolution ongoing in the horror world... Films like "Terrifier 3"; and a handful of other extremely shocking/gory titles, are immensely popular and appear at the top of the box-office stats. These were, however, the type of films that, just a few years ago, were reviled by the general public and critics of all kinds. Even around the time of the first "Terrifier" movie, released in 2016, people were still talking about tasteless gore without a proper story, only intended for empty-headed horror freaks who are solely interested in bloody massacres. Suddenly, everyone wants to see gore on commercial big screens, and the titles get high scores and raving reviews.

Only good news, right? Yes, but the pendulum is (already) swinging too far in the opposite direction. I notice now, when I review films like "Terrifier 2" and "Terrifier 3" and write rather harsh but honest and objective comments, I get blamed for not being a true horror fan. Excuse me?!? I've been defending the horror genre and fighting for more recognition and respect for over 30 years, but because I criticize the sick antics of a clown with no depth, I'm suddenly a "hater"?

It's a pity, but still I can't bring myself to be praising and positive about a film like "Terrifier 3". I respect writer/director Damien Leone for bringing very bloody and filthy special effects to the screen in a good old-fashioned way, without the help of digital techniques, and because his sense of humor is extremely black and sadistic. But at the same time, I can only conclude his film series and he himself as a director are not making much progress. "Terrifier 3" is another step backwards compared to "Terrifier 2", even though "Terrifier 2" wasn't as good as "Terrifier". I found the 2016 original (not counting its obscure predecessor "All Hallow's Eve") to be a refreshing and efficient bare-bones slasher with a repulsive and motiveless monster. In the second part, Leone tried to add some storylines and backgrounds, but without having to compromise on brutal violence and sadistic massacres. It resulted in a film that was way too long (138 minutes!) and yet only the violence was worth remembering. In the third part, Leone doesn't add anything to the already thin story, except for a Christmas setting. The story is a rehash of what happened in the previous film. Art the murderous Clown's strongest opponent is the teenage Sienna, and she needs some sort of magic sword to destroy him. Sienna is staying with her aunt and niece over Christmas, while Art (and what's left of Victoria from Part 1) wakes up from a 5-year hibernation in an abandoned old house. Art is and remains a childlike creature, so he goes on a killing spree dressed as Santa Claus, but in the meantime he gets closer to Sienna.

The only objective of "Terrifier 3" is to be even more disgusting than its predecessors, and more disgusting than any other horror movie ever made, for that matter. At first glance this seems like a mission accomplished, but nevertheless I think part 3 is less shocking and controversial than part 2. The opening scene is sick (because the family in question didn't do anything wrong) and the final act contains a few genuinely repulsive moments, but everything that happens in between is pure routine slasher guff. Art scalps heads, Art wields the chainsaw, Art experiments with liquid nitrogen, etc. Etc. Gruesome, yes. Shocking? Not really. But I am grateful that the murders of children still occur off-screen... Even Art the Clown and Damien Leone have limits. The series is certainly not reaching its limit for the time being. Part 3 ends with another cliffhanger and number 4 is definitely coming. I'm curious to see if "Terrifier" will still be such a big hype by the time of release.

Pretty Made Gore Scenes

If you're in the mood for some pretty looking gore (and I do mean "pretty" - nothing here is truly repulsive), Terrifier 3 might work for you - to a point. But if you're after a strong story or genuine horror, it won't. The Terrifier movies have one big issue: there's nothing truly terrifying about them. The atmosphere isn't "serious" horror; it's more like a ramped-up version of movies like Final Destination in terms of violence. And honestly, Final Destination manages to provoke a stronger reaction in me than all this polished gore - because some of the death scenes of the Final Destination movies are really thought provoking. Still, if you've got some free time and want something to slash through, this will do. It's not bad, but it's unremarkable and certainly nothing a true gorehound will remember.

Stagnation

Terrifier 3 has in my opinion many problems.

Where 1 establishes Art as an antihero the second part establishes the counterpart. But where do you go from there?

Terrifier 3 simply goes to a new environment. Christmas. That's basically it. Sienna and Jonathan struggle with the aftermath of Terrifier 3. But they do not evolve. Everything we see we know already from the second part. In the second part the movie guesses that they might be demons or some supernatural force. Know we know for sure so to speak. But the movie doesn't do anything with it.

Then there is the Christmas theme. Christmas is a very difficult environment and I think the only good horror movie with a Christmas theme is Silent Night Deadly Night because it plays with the psychological effects of conservative beliefs and consumerism. Terrifier 3 could have been a movie like the opening sequence and the mall scene. Unfortunately these two scenes are like 20min of the film. The rest is just bloody business with no substance. Doesn't matter if the setting is Christmas and that's a missed opportunity.

The third one

It's Terrifier, but now it's Christmas. That's it. Get ready for more gory scenes that should have been five minutes shorter 'cause after a while even massacres tend to be boring.

David Howard Thornton's psychical acting remains spot on, but Art as a character says nothing to me. He's funny, he's evil and that was ok for two movies, but what Art has to offer as a character from here on out?

Lauren LaVera is a treasure and brings her A-game but she had more to do in the previous movie. This just ended abruptly because we have to have a Terrifier 4.

Anyway, as I said, it's Terrifier, it's what you expect. It's fun but it overstays its welcome. I personally prefer Terrifier 2 more.

This trilogy gets better. Still, none of the entries are good.

The best of the three for me. I love how offensive it is without truly hurting anyone. There are those who say it is and they're delusional.

It has the same strengths and weaknesses as the second one: David Howard Thornton's performance and the special effects are the film's best aspects. But the screenplay is atrocious. Anyone not named David Howard Thornton sucks. And I can't understand for the life of me why it's over two hours long. Leone's talents lie in special effects, and that's it.

Like I said in my review for Terrifier 2, I'm happy this movie exists and it's made by someone with passion and love for filmmaking. I have a lot of respect for filmmakers like Damien. Even if he has only so much talent, I greatly appreciate and respect his conviction and determination. And he seems like a fun person to be around on set. And even if the filmmaker has no talent, I would rather they be given the chance to make their movie or movies than not. And it's amazing how much Leone put on his own plate to make this movie.

Mister Bean for horror fans

The problem with this film is that Art the clown doesn't speak. So we don't know what is making him kill all those people. It looks like he kills for fun. Which is plotwise a dumb reason to kill and torture. Anyway, I'm not a big fan of the genre, but my friend, who dragged me along, likes horror a lot. Expectations were low for me, and high for him. Expectations for neither of us were surpassed. The film wasn't that scary altogether. A couple of good scenes, with good acting. But Art is a farce as a character. Maybe I'm getting too old. Maybe I like a good story too much. The film has good pace, but lacks scary moments. The film doesn't like fake blood. Enjoy if you are into gore, torture and creepy clowns who don't speak.

Better than the first 2

The Terrifier film franchise, initially introduced as an edgy alternative to mainstream horror, has shifted into a more populist zone with the recent success of Terrifier 3. The film has grossed nearly $40 million domestically and $5 million from overseas markets, bringing its total global haul to $44 million in under two weeks of release. The franchise's total global box office haul has now passed the $60 million mark, despite their niche nature. The first Terrifier was a no-show in theaters but gained prominence after its streaming debut. Cineverse picked up distribution rights for the second installment, Terrifier 2, which debuted in 2022 and grossed over $10 million domestically. Terrifier 3 was supposed to generate around $11 million in its first weekend but ended up grossing nearly $19 million, making it the fourth-biggest horror movie of the year. Its box office performance was aided by an excellent audience response and solid reviews. Terrifier 3 has earned a "verified hot" badge of honor on Rotten Tomatoes, with an 86% audience score and a 76% critics' rating. Terrifier 3, a film that is not only the worst of the year but one of the worst I have ever had the displeasure of sitting through. Damien Leone's talentless and unimaginative approach to the film is evident in its brain-dead drivel masquerading as a horror film. The film stumbles from one absurd scene to the next without any semblance of narrative coherence, with every attempt to move the story forward being laughable at best and infuriating at worst. The movie is 125 minutes of meandering nonsense, dressed up in lazy jump scares and superficial shock value, with no sense of direction or pacing. Art the Clown (David Howard Thornton) is given a sidekick, Victoria Heyes, which is supposed to add some new dynamic but only strips away his mystique. Art has become a hollow shell of his former self, a caricature of what made him remotely intriguing in the first place. He doesn't scare, disturb, or surprise, and instead becomes a parody of himself, going through the motions in a predictable slog of pointless violence and soulless mischief.

The film's over-the-top violence is meant to mask the film's other glaring deficiencies, but all it does is highlight them. Every so-called "gruesome" scene is stretched out and exaggerated, crossing the line from grotesque to downright cartoonish. The victims are bland, empty vessels we forget as soon as they're introduced, and the carnage holds zero weight because we're given no reason to invest in these characters beyond their inevitable, meaningless slaughter. The critics argue that Terrifier 3 lacks pacing, with every scene lingering and every kill overstaying its welcome. They believe the audience needs more than just blood, suspense, tension, and character investment. The film is a hollow, soulless excuse for a movie, with the critics stating that it is a total failure and should be avoided at all costs.

A slasher with not too much substance

Slashers that really make you feel fear of its antagonist are something I enjoy watching, from Michael Myers to Jason. Unfortunately, Art the Clown doesn't evoke that same fear. The practical gore mess might work for some people, but for me it just feels like a bunch of set pieces rather than scaring the audience with something substantial. Real fear doesn't just require gore, it requires more. If you want to just see practical guts spilling out and eccentric details including a rat, by all means enjoy this. But you could just save the money with a trip to live leak or something. I want the fear that comes with a malevolent presence that truly feels otherworldly and a little less goofy.

a horribly creepy sequel in a similar style to the previous ones with lots of blood and gore.

This third one has a much larger budget than its predecessors, made evident by the multitude of horrifying and lethal scenes that spill blood everywhere. So much so, that during its premiere several cases were reported of people who could not bear the terror and ended up vomiting or losing consciousness, that is because of some vomit bags that were offered in movie theaters. This time, the Christmas holidays become the perfect setting for Art the Clown to wreak havoc, chaos, and his now-classic criminal massacre among the unsuspecting residents of Miles County.

After being decapitated by Sienna Shaw (Lauren LaVera) , Art the Clown' s (David Howard Thornton) headless body kills a cop responding to the incident and makes its way to the asylum where survivor Victoria Heyes (Samantha Scaffidi), now possessed by the Little Pale Girl, has just given birth to his head. Of course, they go on a criminal spree at a hospital. Just when Sienna and her brother seem to have found peace after the previous Halloween massacre, they must once again fight Art, who has decided to turn their Christmas joy into a new nightmare. Sienna (Lauren LaVera who did most of her own stunts in the movie) and her brother Jonathan (Elliott Fullam) find themselves as the obsession of the sadistic murderer known as Art the Clown who after being resurrected . Terror under the Christmas moonlight !. You better not shout, you better not cry !. Prepare to be terrified again !. Art the Clown returns to the timid town of Miles County , who's laughing now?

A macabre opening scene announces the return of Art, the most diabolical and sadistic clown in the horror genre, with this third installment of the brutal and bloody "Terrifier." As happened in the previous installments, it caused several people to leave the theaters, causing them to lose consciousness, become nauseous, or vomit.

After the bloody, terrifying first and second installments , Art the clown returns in a third, more sadistic film, much more brutal, and above all more gore. Named one of the scariest clowns on screen by BloodyDisgusting.com, Art The Clown returns and sets his sights on two siblings, his targets are a teenage girl and her younger brother on Christmas along with anyone else that gets in his way. Art the most diabolical and sadistic clown that anyone can imagine resurrected by supernatural causes, he once again proposes to kill Sienna, a teenage artist, and her brother Jonathan.

¨Terrifier 3¨pays tribute to various classic terror movies were in this film including Art's face through the hole in the white door for ¨The Shining¨ by Stanley Kubrick. The window Art is sitting by in the rocking chair is the same shape as the famous Amityville window from ¨Amityville¨ film by Stuart Rosenberg, also a reference to a body propped up at a window in the original ¨Black Christmas¨ by Bob Clark . Also, the shower scene for ¨Psycho¨ by Hitchcock and Scarface, as well a woman is seen reading a book called "The 9th Circle" by an author called Rosemary Castavete that directed Damien Leone himself . Furthermore, there's a reference to both the original short film where Art The Clown first appeared ¨The 9th Circle¨ (2008) and Rosemary's Baby (1968) by Polanski which features the titular character Rosemary.

A disturbing film not suitable for the faint of heart because it contains deeply disgusting scenes with amputated limbs, dismemberments, decapitations most often in close-up, so the feeling of disgusting and loathing is highly horrifying. ¨Terrifier¨ is a filmic spin-off from an indie horror anthology called All hallows' eve , one of that film's segments featured a sadistic clown murdering women so here we have the same "plot" for two hours. David Howard Thornton was the sixth person who auditioned for Art The Clown. During the audition, he began miming tasting his beheaded victim's blood, but then added salt to it to improve its flavor. He had previous mime experience, which he utilizes in his performance, this is what won him the role.

It was professional directed by Damien Leone (All Hallows' Eve, Frankenstein vs the Mummy, Terrifier I,II and III en pre-production) in similar sttyle a Terrifier I (2016) and Terrifier 2 (2022). Terrifier 3 (2024) is done without originality because it copies scenes from the previous one and other ideas taken from murderous clown movies and other slasher films. The director Damien Leone actively made Art The Clown as different from IT's Pennywise as much as possible. For example, Art doesn't have hair, he isn't colorful, and he doesn't speak. Leone made all the special effects himself in order to cut costs, he was able to be uncompromising in his depiction of violence and gore. Rating: 5/10. Only for extreme gore enthusiasts.

Franchise needs to somehow go back to its roots

So just a recap, I really enjoyed the first Terrifier, and didn't like Terrifier 2 because it was too much "magic woo-woo" crap.

Terrifier 3 SORTA gets back to a serial killer killing people in original and mega-gory ways, which is what people who enjoyed the first one are looking for.

The guy playing Art is awesome and funny as he was in the first two. Lauren LaVera is pretty good, but lets face it, Art is why people go see this movie.

If you liked the first one, this one is one you will probably not regret watching, but hopefully for #4 they somehow don't get more ridiculous than 2 was and just get back to brutality and laughs.
