Perfect portrayal of larger section of youth - Highly Relatable

Making a big splash during its theatrical release, it is now garnering love on OTT as well. How can you miss watching a movie like this?

The film follows the journey of four friends from childhood to adulthood, filled with misadventures that repeatedly land them in trouble.

As the tagline rightly says, it is the story of billions of boys across the country. The narrative reflects a larger section of society-the so-called "losers"-who couldn't achieve the lofty dreams their parents had for them. Yet, what they have is friendship, thicker than blood. This simple tale resonates deeply, striking a chord and making you feel every emotion along with the characters. Credit goes to writer Vipin Das, who is solidifying his name in Malayalam cinema with every project.

In terms of performances, it feels like the roles were tailor-made for each actor. The friends-Siju Sunny, Joemon Jyothir, Anuraj O B, Amith Mohan, and Anshid-are the lifeblood of this film, and they have absolutely nailed it. Their arch-rival, played by Safwan, is equally impressive. Supporting these boys are stellar performances from their on-screen fathers, portrayed by Jagadeesh, Kottayam Nazeer, Noby Marcose, and Azees Nedumangad. Basil Joseph's special appearance adds charm and comic relief to the narrative, and he delivers brilliantly. Even the younger versions of the characters are perfectly cast.

Director Anand Menen has crafted a film that will resonate with millions. The father-son relationships, often sidelined in other films, take center stage here and stand out as the highlight of the movie, distinct from any other portrayal. Prepare to get teary-eyed during the emotional confrontations between the father-son duos in the climax. Even the non-lip-synched songs enhance the movie's emotional depth. And for the fun part-there's a sequel hinted at in the film!

This movie will make you laugh out loud, make you think, and even shed a tear. Missing out on such a well-made film is a crime, and you are not a criminal-so watch it soon!

A Truly Enjoyable Experience - A Must-Watch for Friends and Family

This film was an absolute delight to watch. From the very beginning, it pulled me into its world with an engaging storyline, well-developed characters, and a seamless blend of emotion, humor, and drama. It's the kind of movie that leaves you with a smile on your face and warmth in your heart by the end of it.

What stood out the most for me was the storyline. It was refreshingly original, yet relatable - striking a perfect balance between entertainment and emotional depth. The narrative flowed smoothly, without any unnecessary scenes or dull moments. Each scene had a purpose and contributed meaningfully to the overall story. It managed to keep the audience hooked from the first frame to the last, and that's not an easy thing to do.

The characters were beautifully written and performed. You could see a reflection of real people in them - their strengths, flaws, emotions, and struggles felt genuine. The actors brought these characters to life with heartfelt performances. Whether it was the lead characters or supporting ones, everyone delivered memorable moments. There were funny bits that had me laughing, and emotional scenes that touched my heart deeply.

Another thing I appreciated was how the movie was so family-friendly, without compromising on the quality of storytelling. In a time when a lot of content is targeted toward niche audiences, this film manages to remain universal. It's a great choice to watch with friends, family members of all ages, or even alone - it works in every setting. The themes it explores - love, friendship, values, dreams, or life's ups and downs - are something everyone can relate to.

Movie review

Vazha is a bold and unconventional film that dares to break the mold of mainstream cinema. With a surreal narrative and experimental visual style, the movie takes viewers on a bizarre yet oddly compelling journey through the mind of its eccentric protagonist. The storytelling is nonlinear, peppered with dark humor, emotional rawness, and absurdist elements that challenge the audience's expectations. While its abstract themes and chaotic sequences may not be for everyone, Vazha rewards those willing to embrace its weirdness with a surprisingly poignant reflection on identity, trauma, and redemption. It's a film that doesn't just ask to be watched - it demands to be experienced.

Review

Vaazha: Biopic of a Billion Boys - A Wacky, Raw Snapshot of Aimless Youth

Vaazha: Biopic of a Billion Boys is exactly what its quirky title promises - an offbeat, irreverent look at a bunch of aimless young men drifting through life, trying to find meaning, mischief, and maybe a way out of their mundane existence. Directed by Jeo Baby, who has already proven his knack for experimenting with narrative formats (The Great Indian Kitchen), this film pushes the boundaries further - with mixed but largely entertaining results.

At its core, Vaazha is less of a traditional story and more of a mood piece about life in small-town Kerala. There's no single hero here; instead, the 'biopic' is of an entire group - a ragtag bunch of twenty-something boys, each with big dreams but zero plans. They hang around tea shops, roam the streets, get into petty trouble, crack crude jokes, and bond over their shared inertia.

Leading the ensemble is Arjun Ashokan, who stands out with his effortless portrayal of Biju - an unemployed graduate whose biggest ambition on most days is to find cheap booze and an excuse to avoid his father's lectures. Biju's friends - a colourful set of loafers, dreamers, and troublemakers - are brought to life by a terrific supporting cast of newcomers and familiar faces like Lukman Avaran and Sreenath Bhasi.

The film's greatest strength is its raw honesty. Vaazha doesn't glamorize the lives of its characters. It shows them exactly as they are - broke, confused, sometimes pathetic, yet oddly likable. They are not 'heroes' in any sense. They are the boys you see on street corners, the ones you pass by without a second glance but who have stories of their own, however insignificant they may seem.

Jeo Baby's writing is sharp and filled with laugh-out-loud moments. The dialogues feel improvised at times - casual, crude, and full of local slang. The humour is distinctly earthy and situational, often arising from the boys' silly schemes or brutally honest one-liners. If you enjoy realistic Malayalam slice-of-life humour, this film nails it.

Visually, Vaazha feels raw but energetic. Cinematographer Sanu John Varughese captures the dusty lanes, cramped homes, and local bars in a way that feels authentic and immersive. The handheld camera style makes you feel like you're tagging along with the gang, witnessing their lives up close - the boredom, the laughter, the random bursts of madness.

Absolute entertainment

I watched the film almost a year after its theatrical release, and honestly, I'm glad I didn't miss it. Everything felt so real and relatable - the characters, the emotions, the situations. It was like watching real life unfold on screen.

The climax especially gave me such a peaceful and emotional feeling. It wasn't overdramatic; it was genuine and satisfying. Even after the movie ended, I stayed in that emotional zone for a while.

Without any doubt, the movie deserves 10 stars. For comparison, I had rated Lucifer 9 stars and Empuraan just 3 stars. So giving 10 stars here truly means the movie connected with me on a deep level.

It's one of the most beautiful and relatable films I've seen recently.

A Rare Gem That Blends Laughter and Tears - A Must-Watch!

Vaazha: Biopic of Billion Boys is a beautiful tribute to friendship, dreams, and the raw emotions that come with chasing something bigger than yourself. Rooted in the heart of Malayalam cinema, this film carries the soul of real-life struggles and the humor that gets us through them.

What makes Vaazha truly special is how you don't just watch the movie-you feel it. While watching, you start connecting scenes to your own life. The emotions hit deep, and the characters feel like people you've met, or maybe even like your younger self. It's that rare kind of film that reflects your real-life experiences and memories, making every moment more personal and powerful.

The story strikes a beautiful balance-one moment you're laughing at the innocence and silliness of youth, and the next, you're quietly crying because something in it touches your soul. That emotional range is not easy to achieve, but Vaazha pulls it off with grace.

Basil Joseph's cameo is a delightful surprise-short but impactful, and perfectly timed. And the climax? Absolutely unforgettable. It's raw, emotional, and left me in tears. Few movies can stir such a mix of joy and pain in one sitting.

If you love Malayalam cinema or meaningful storytelling in general, this film is a must-watch. You'll laugh, cry, and maybe even heal a little.
