As stated in this interview and comfirmed by Riley, Oprah and Lisa Marie were very close friends. Her interview with Riley is very respectful and compansionate. There are revelations regarding Lisa Maria's marriage to Michael Jackson and the horrible loss she endured with the death of her son. I think Oprah's questions displayed empathy and compassion. Riley displays much maturity and insight toward her mother, Lisa Marie.
The previous review stated that Oprah uninvited, handled Elvis's personal items. One can see in the interview that Riley had handed Oprah each item she handled. Again very well done interview.

Riley was eloquent and articulate. There's not a lot of additional info in the special that wasn't already in the book but I think Riley did a good job of sharing her mother's story.
Oprah was as fake and disingenuous as ever. She is one of the worst interviewers and has always been that way. Talking over guests, repeating obvious information that Riley just said...she made watching this a chore but I pushed through because I thoroughly enjoyed the book and wanted to hear more of what Riley had to say.
Like the title says, I would've enjoyed it better had it been anyone but Oprah doing the interview. She always has to make everything unnecessarily about her and it took away from the viewing experience.

I watched this interview last night and although I learnt a bit about Elvis and his family, Oprah's over the top and ridiculous reactions really annoyed me. This was more like a therapy session with an amateur psychologist than a genuine interview. Even Oprah's faces are fake and annoying.. with fake sympathy.. All Oprah cares about is talking to Elvis's granddaughter.. someone with a famous family.. to hitch her decimated popularity to Elvis family..
Elvis's granddaughter seems like a well rounded and intelligent woman who has lived an incredible life, but a sad life. We learnt her mother, Lisa Marie, always had an heir of sadness about her but was an incredibly loving mother and grandmother. What I found sad was Lisa Marie's desire to join her son who had passed away. The daughter.. I'm not saying her name because I didn't pay that much attention because Oprah annoyed me so much with her fake reactions and attempt to be a therapist and seem as if she cared.. which she doesn't.. Oprah's only motive is for attention and to remain relevant and that's it.. she doesn't have a sincere bone in her body, or any genuine empathy.. it's all about ratings and relevance..
Anyway, Elvis's granddaughter seems like a well rounded woman and I hope she finds happiness and peace in her life because she seems really nice..
Oh, I must mention when the granddaughter shows Oprah a box Elvis always had with him.. she mentioned nobody had touched the items but Oprah doesn't hesitate to touch everything and take items out of the box which of course, Oprah thought she had every right to do, being Oprah.. this was cringeworthy but not unexpected..
Ok, I learnt the granddaughters name is Riley.. I must mention when Oprah decided to manhandle the items in Elvis's personal box that had not been touched by anyone previously and she felt entitled to drag items out.. Oprah mentioned Riley could sell the items and make a lot of money which was so uncomfortable to watch because it was so obvious Riley treasured the items and they meant a great deal to her but Oprah didn't surprise me thinking of the money above sentimentality..
