Tom's music video shoot gets off to a bad start when his tripod gets stolen and his runner runs off. Flanked by friend and wingman Hobbsy, Tom is forced back into the life of his nemesis, Smug Guy, who lends him a replacement tripod. Not only is Smug Guy an internationally successful film director, he also now dates Tom's ex-girlfriend, Molly, for whom Tom still holds a torch.

Tom and Hobbsy arrive at the shoot to find that Snakeskin, a self-hyped band with 'the blackest souls in rock' are in fact feuding public school boys. Still, the show must go on and Tom needs the cash. Delusion, brotherly rivalry and vanity culminate in the shoot from hell.

Against his better judgment, Tom agrees to shoot a rap video for Molly, who is inundated with work. A tense reunion between the two of them takes on a different dynamic when Smug Guy arrives on the scene. Tom takes the brief of shooting a video for The Admiral Black Knight at The House of Rap. His professionalism surely has to get him somewhere.

The House of Rap turns out to be a suburban bungalow with garden gnomes out front. Colin, a skinny single parent in his 20s, reveals himself to be the Admiral Black Knight. Tom realises that he is doomed, especially when Colin's Grandma declares herself as his agent...

Tired of adolescent bands letting him down, Tom changes tack and shoots a music video for a mature German electronic band. Impressed by Traummusik's back catalogue and enduring success over three decades, he meets Dirk. Off the wall, off the beat, and off this planet, Dirk turns out to be his biggest challenge yet.
