Pauline Knight's debut.
This TV production of FANNY the musical is a filmization of the West End production. In view of its timeline and the fact that the show opened at the Drury Lane Theater on 15 November 1956, it appears this was an early ITV production and was shown (perhaps as a teaser and counter-programming to the BBC?) on UK TV before the show's actual London opening date. The first ITV service to launch was London's Associated-Rediffusion on 22 September 1955. The film rights were sold afterwards to Warner Brothers but it was then decided not to shoot the American film as a musical but as a straight drama instead. The Logan FANNY with Leslie Caron in the title role was released in 1961.
