    Redneck Rapture

Quite possibly the most catastrophically stupid shark movie ever made. How country folk are seen by the Limo Liberal slime of Hollywood is perfectly depicted in this wretched piece of trailer trash filth. Every imaginable trailer trash-redneck cliche is stretched to the farthest gear when radiated sharks seek blood and gore on an unsuspecting population of Oxycotton drenched trailer trash. Plot? Who cares about plots at a time like this. Movies like this revel in the theme of despicable type casting, cliche strangled and mangled main characters and zero story line development. The only obvious interest lies in the never ending body count of Billy Joes and Bobby Sues getting "ate" by those damned shark critters. Oh the humanity.

Solid enough if slightly problematic effort

Trying to make ends meet, residents in a struggling trailer park down in the middle of the country manage to get swept away in a plot by a developer to drown the area only to have a vicious shark to get involved with them as well and forces them to deal with both issues.

This one wasn't all that bad of a killer shark effort. One of the finer aspects of this one is the fact that there's a strong set of action throughout here that gives this a strong overall pace. The trick at the beginning featuring the event staged in two parts where it shows the pipeline being sabotaged and then going back to bring about the cause of the event itself in the second go-round is rather nice with the confrontation with the shark thrown in to give it a great feel. The resulting aftermath in the drowned-out trailer park is quite impressive featuring all the water rushing over and overtaking the community still inside their trailers due to the storm is quite an enjoyable sequence especially with the rescue efforts shown immediately afterward which helps to give this a sense of scale to the action. The scenes of the group encountering the shark in the flooded remains of their community offer some great action as well with the shorter scenes of the shark jumping out to take care of the residents as there's plenty of fun featuring the attacks on the two different sets of victims on the river. The big attack scene on the group of hunters trying to carry out their assassination only to have the shark interrupt matters displaying its electrical attack to further drive home some nice action, while the final confrontation manages to include the final attack on the final residents of the park putting their big plan against the shark into fruition gives this a solid series of action-packed scenes that are incredibly fun and providing plenty to like. Coupled with a great amount of gore from the high body count, there's a lot to like here which holds it over it's few minor flaws. The main issue here is the fact that there's just not a whole lot of realistic work one for the shark, which is so fake-looking and CGI-heavy that it really sticks out here, not only because it's such a difference against the rest of the scene that it stands out. The fact that there's just nothing all that impressive about the way it looks. The other big factor to lower this one is the fact that there's just no reason for this one to put dealing with the shark first before the developer storyline, which ends up leading to the fact that the shark doesn't come off as the main threat, neutralizing it in it's own movie since it's done first and then the attention is turned to the subplot rather than having the two stories intertwined at the end. It doesn't end this on a high note and really brings this down somewhat, although it still has a lot to like.

Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Violence, Language and violence-against- animals.

    It's like 80's comedy/horror. So stupid it's funny

5.8/10 This movie is much better than you'd think. But only if you're a fan of the 80's style cornball comedy genre. If not, you'll probably hate it. It covers a lot of the stereotypes associated with trailer parks and residents. The timing on the quips delivered and everyone in the movie just goes on acting not missing a beat without laughing takes talent alone. Thomas Ian Nicholas, Lulu Jovovich and most of the supporting cast played their parts very well. If you're a fan of CGI when it first came out, or enjoy terrible CGI, this film is it. Trash

There are budget shark movies (sharknado etc) and then there is THIS. Had to turn it off after 20 mins it was so boring and the cgi was appalling. Don't see how this has 5.3 and sharknado has 3.3.... what an absolute joke.

    Trailer park trash

Have made no secret in the past of intensely disliking, and even outright hating a lot, a vast majority of SyFy's (near-universally maligned for good reason) output, though there is curiosity as to whether they are capable of making something good and compulsive about their output's badness. Admittedly, SyFy do have a small group of watchable films and the occasional (big emphasis on that word) above average one, unfortunately outweighed by the lacklustre at best and often dreadful films they churn out.

Am well aware, just to make things clear right now, that films like 'Trailer Park Shark' are not ones to be taken seriously, have been well versed enough seeing previous SyFy efforts to not expect that. Have seen my fair share of low-budget shark films, and any other kind of low-budget creature film, and will admit to finding some guilty fun in some of them (i.e. the first two 'Sharknado' films). There are marginally worse shark films certainly than 'Trailer Park Shark'.

Some of the scenery is semi-decent but that is it in 'Trailer Park Shark's' favour. Even that is wasted by that the rest of the production values are so poorly executed.

The acting largely is pretty poor, with the usual mix of overplaying and blandness. Any few attempts to develop the stereotypical and annoying characters, constantly behaving ridiculously in a way that defies logic, results in padded and pointless scenes, development is at best flimsy and it's all overwrought and does little to make the characters endearing or care or learn enough about them.

The execution of almost everything is severely underwhelming, not just being visually cheap and poorly acted and written even worse but what seemed like a decent, if very generic, idea was executed in typical SyFy shark movie fashion, with no imagination whatsoever and only occasional splashes of fun.

Faring worse are the production values, story and writing. 'Trailer Park Shark', aside from the scenery, is drably shot and sloppily edited, but it's the truly abysmal special effects that are the worst. As the shark was made on a low-budget it would have been forgiven a little if it was not great, but when the effects for the sharks look as if no effort was given in making them without looking so goofy and unfinished-looking that is hard to ignore or forgive.

Can say no better about the portrayal of the shark either. It exudes little personality, no menace, not even any unintentional goofiness. Generally the attack scenes, apart from the odd mild amusement, are sloppily edited, too brief and devoid of suspense or sense of horror. Any gore is cheaply cartoon and adds nothing.

Writing ranges between incredibly bad to appalling. Any comedy is incredibly forced and is so cheesy it is enough to make the eyes roll in disbelief, while the more serious moments are very awkwardly written and as trite as anybody can possibly go, complete with some truly muddled jargon. The silliness goes well overboard as the film progresses and it becomes intelligence insulting even when one tries to take it for what it's trying to be.

Really wanted to like the story here because the concept was intriguing slightly, but while it starts nicely the further the movie progresses the lazier, cheesier and more formulaic it gets, also making the mistake that most SyFy films make of trying so hard to be over the top and stupid but in a painfully predictable and less than fresh way that it becomes tiresome. The stupidity gets stale quickly and the film is lethargic generally in pace from over-extending a too thin story for a too long length.

All in all, trash. 1/10 Bethany Cox

During the rehearsal process for "Trailer Park Shark" Sophie Howell, who plays Barb, jokingly suggested that during her electrocution scene she have a dance montage just for the bloopers. The director, Griff Furst, loved the idea and, unfortunately, ended up putting it in the movie.
    • Blooper
The shark suffers a burn to the side of its face. But the side that is burned keeps switching back and forth from the right to the left.
