People lately have been having heated debates about TDK and the Godfather. Which is better? Everyone has their opinion, and I start my review with a Latin proverb: De Gustibus non Disputandum est. This means you can't argue with taste.
My opinion is that the godfather is a movie of great quality, however, there are other movies, TDK, for instance which are more entertaining.
Its similar to how in high school, they make you read all those dreadful "classics" To Kill a Mockinbird, Fahrenheit 451, The Great Gatsby, Macbeth, Hamlet... etc. Even though Harry Potter might be exponentially more exciting than this list of classics, it doesn't have that much literary value. Was it an enjoyable read? Of course. But I won't be telling my grandkids all the lessons harry potter taught me.

This summer has been loaded with great superhero movies, and has been a comic book reader's dream come true. Here's how I rate them: 1. The Dark Knight 2. Iron Man 3. Hancock 4. The Incredible Hulk
Although I liked TDK more, Iron man was a very close 2nd. This is saying a lot because I think the TDK is the best movie of the year. Iron Man is much more lighthearted, charming, and funny where TDK is rather Stark (what a pun!) in contrast.
My favorite part about both of these movies, however, is one simple thing. Iron Man and Batman are the only 2 superheroes I can think of who don't actually have special powers. Tony Stark, through his intellectual brilliance, and Batman, through his family inheritance, made themselves out of nothing to combat the evil in this world. They are ordinary guys doing the extraordinary, and that is what makes them true heroes.

After seeing this movie and the litany of negative comments about it, I can't help but wonder: why do so many people waste their time and money?
I thought the movie was moderately entertaining, certainly not great, but not the heap of garbage many people want you to think it is. Although the plot is not logical or linear, neither is seeing a movie you know you will hate just so you can vent abut it on IMDb. Leaving comments about movies is supposed to help people decide whether or not to see it. If the user comments are loaded with biased negative ones, it doesn't give the movie goer a fair chance.
I read one comment in particular where the person said they didn't even like the original speed racer series. WHY WOULD YOU THEN GO TO A MOVIE ABOUT IT? DO YOU ENJOY WASTING TIME AND MONEY?
My suggestion to the preemptive haters is this: save 2 hours and $7.50 and leave a comment saying "my friend told me it sucked."
