This type of movie has been done over and over again where a guy abuses his position to serve personal interests. In this case the guy is a TSA agent and lets a bioweapon through security because the bad guys threatened his girlfriend. I mean, the guy puts hundreds of lives in jeopardy. His boss ended up getting killed. Another guy died. All so he could save one person. And the weird thing is that the guy is supposed to be a hero.
There are some good points. There is a lot of action and suspense. And the head of TSA is played by the actor who played "Uncle Daddy" so it was nice to see him again.
But at the end of the movie, Lil Rel is still the coolest TSA agent in the cinematic universe.

This is based on a template. A grizzled, hardened, super tough, seasoned detective gets paired up with a sweet, kind, outgoing partner with less experience. At first they clash and then later they appreciate their differences and learn to admire each other. Who hasn't seen this a hundred times. This plays out exactly as one would expect.
I wasn't familiar with the actors. I didn't think the male could pull it off. He doesn't look tough or grizzled enough. He doesn't pull it off. He plays the character his way, and it works. The female character is supposed to be a rookie, but it's played by a 40+ year old actress who has lines in her face. But she plays the part of the sweet, energetic, optimistic young rookie splendidly. She's very likeable.
But the movie seems more like a cop series on a major network. It doesn't have the feel of a movie, and even at the end some story lines are unresolved intentionally as if they planned on a sequel from the beginning. I'll be looking forward to the sequel. Good show.

I'm not a fan of Russell Crowe. I have managed to avoid most of his movies, but this seemed fun. And I have to tell ya that he was fantastic. He plays a post-middle-aged man who never achieved his financial dreams and was never appreciated by his family. He lost his job, and now his wife dumps him. He's on the edge. He's mad. I grew up around too many men like that. Crowe plays the part to a T! Great acting.
The other actors in the film are not as good as Crowe. And the movie is sadly extremely predictable. After about the first ten minutes you know how it's going to end. But it was fun getting there.
