Disappointing film. Especially considering who the Director is. (Tucker & Dake vs Evil, Zombieland) which were amazing.
They played it quite straight for the most part then towards the end added a couple of humorous bits, but they dodnt really fall right as felt out of the blue and odd when rest was less humourous. With such a silly and unoriginal premise to start with (a killer clown! Killer in a cornfield) he really should have played for laughs like in Tucker & Dale meets Scary Movie level silliness and it would have been a win.
It wasn't that gory either unfortunately so was lacking in that department too.
Script was really lacking and seemed rushed and inbelievable.
With a lazy tacked on gay bit to appear diverse and woke which I couldn't care less either way as only person I vaguely cared about were the two new people to the town, father and daughter. (The back story was also a tired cliche) The acting level was OK with main female lead standing out.
Shame. Really thought was going to enjoy this but feel really let down.
Please don't bother with sequel (which was left wide open for)

OK. I (like many) adore the original STREET TRASH. So when heard about this I was NOPE, travesty. Then I heard for a continuation and I thought. OK I'll give it a go.
This sequel of sorts just has none of the charm or magic that made the original so enjoyable. The fx manage to look cheaper and worse that the original back in the 80s.
The acting is unbearable and the attempts at humour were cringeworthy to say the least. The story is nonsensical. Why use Tenafly when openly shooting the homeless whenever they please anyway!? Just shoot them!?
This would be an OK watch if was just a bunch on none filmmakers friends deciding to make a fan film at the weekend for fun. Then can ignore its multitude of faults. Terrible acting. Zero empathy for any character. It's beyond dumb.
I knew it was going to be poor but nothing could have prepared me for how inept this film really was.
It is an embarrassment to all involved.
Even the 'Fried Barry' actor (from directors other and watchable film of same name Fried Barry) looked bored and didnt look as if wanted to he there.
How or why they allowed this guy to take a huge steamy dump over what is classed as adult classic and loved by many is beyond me.
Insulting in its attempt.
Avoid.

The opening scens and murders made me think..... wow, that's a cool looking character. Some really well thought out fun deaths. This is going to be great.
Then it ground to a halt and it became a really lame romantic comedy (without real comedy, just awkward smile cringe humour). This went on far too long and luckily just when I said out loud....."oh for Christ's sake! Enough of this soppy nonsense" the killer returned and we were off again with some great action. I wasn't really liking the characters yet so didn't care whether they lived or died. Was just wanting more of the killer without the cringe level attempts at comedy.
This film didn't know what it wanted ro be. A soppy romantic soft comedy or an all out slasher gorefest. I guess they thought they were being original trying tk blend the two but it didn't work for me.
The humour seemed out of place and silly and I was constantly thinking "I wish they had played this straight as the killer is really good.
The two cops "Hobbs and Shaw" *eyeroll moment and if it was a nod to something it was lost on me. Same writer ir director as the Staham/Rock film maybe? Otherwise it was just plain odd ??
The police station scenes were well ahem...executed but soon after the film Grinds to another halt to allow some more pointless romance !? Mid chase from a maniac slasher!?? Really!?
Luckily this is not as long as before and the killer takes out the stoners in epic fashion. Now that's more like it.
Ignoring the plenty of opportunities the killer has to end the couples life's yet doesn't the scene is good.
Then back to the soppy romantic slop. And I was almost ready to turn it off.
But then a very lazy twist and we have yet more opportunities to end the heroes but fail and end up toast.
Soppy ending with embarrassing phone call that was supposed to be amusing yet made my eyeballs roll so hard back I could see my brain.
It gets a 5 for the fantastic slasher character who if had been done better and play3d straight couldn't have been a new horror icon.
But wasted opportunity.
It's like a husband and wife team decided to make a film together with one another. One loving Slashers and the other Notting Hill.
The humour didn't land very well and it was ultimately a frustrating mess.
