I MUST SAY that THIRD WATCH was one of only3 weekly dramas that had me ABSOLUTELY HOOKED; #1 was NYPD BLUE - season 1 almost killed it. When Sipowicz became the main character, the show came to life! Watching the steady EVOLUTION of Det. Sipowicz from a sloppy drunk to the mature, principled, HUMAN BEING, as well as Detective and husband he became was a WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE and has tears flowing even now, just thinking about it

#2, and only because it did not run as long as #1 did, was Third Watch. The stories, the characters and the REALISM were every bit as heart lifting (and BREAKING) as NYPD Blue. I WISH I could have every episode on DVD, alas they don't exist unless you can get copies of home-recorded episodes. All because of disagreement over the theme music & how much of a cut everyone should get. To whom is in control of such things - How much are you NOT making by not letting EVERYONE who contributed to the show have a fair cut of the profits? The ones who pay are the fans. We ALL are deprived of an EXCEPTIONAL PIECE OF WORK. Treat the WORLD to the things that these unsung, dedicated, REAL HEROS do every day, and let them be seen as they really are: regular people with extraordinary HEART, SKILL and DEVOTION to serve those who might be you or I, or someone we love. What is better for you, less money or NO MONEY AND resentment from the people who you are depriving of the experience? This show DESERVES to be SEEN - otherwise, EVERYONE LOSES.
