One there were only like three joke that were funny, the acting made me want to commit suicide, Hilary and Hayley were Just plain disturbing and Angelica Huston looked like she was going to kill herself.I would too if i had to work with them.Through out the whole movie there all like"I'm not paying you till i see your good service" which was retarded they know that you have to pay and also everybody knows how to clean and they have to act like they don't. o and by the way people there remake of the song sucks!i truly hope all of you take my advice and don't go see this movie even if you rent it. DON'T. Oh also after the movie i complained for my money back. So if you see this movie and don't like it complain. I wasted 10 dollars.

I happened to stumble across this film one day on Netflix (I think.... maybe it was HBOGO) while I was home terribly sick one day. Normally I really don't have any interest in films of this sort... "Chick Flicks" or whatever you might want to call it... I am more of a documentary type of person and when I do watch "movies" that aren't documentaries, they are usually either crime type movies that are based on a true story or psychological thrillers or something more in that vein. Now, when my 17 year old daughter was very little, she LOVED Hilary Duff and I thought that Hilary had a very nice singing voice and was MUCH more of a positive role model than many of the other "tween pop" artists out there and I had also seen her on the Lizzy Maguire series and thought she was just adorable. So, while this movie is not some sort of "cinematic tour de force" it is definitely fun, lighthearted, and something very easy to watch when you are not feeling well. I quite enjoyed it and have watched it several times since. Definitely recommend to young women and also found it to be appropriate to show to "preteen" girls who I think might enjoy it for a sleepover or something.... in the same kind of category as "13 Going on 30" which is another of my "guilty pleasures"!

I found the title interesting because the title Material GIrls is a song from Maddona. My mom and I went to the movie....I found it better. For those fans of Hailey Duff she played this as a good piece of the puzzle.
If u were thinking that Hillary Duff always does the same thing she's doing the same thing that she always does (Not Predictable!!. It is interesting there was a lot of metamorphosis in this movie=D.TO tell you the truth I don't feel like writing all of this gig.BUT I WILL! It's not a movie that you'll say awe I wish I went to the pirates of the Caribbean instead, unless you like fighting shows and you're a boy. Before I went to see this movie since people said hardly anything good about it I thought I would not like it as much as for instance the Pirates of the Caribean.Mostly girls from the age of 6-12 will like this movies more than younger and elders=).yes great movie if u saw this message thanks if u agreed or listened OR thought it was funny for a kid to talk like this thank you for your cooperation!

I saw how everyone was saying that this movie was bad, and i wanted to see it for myself, since i'm a very BIG fan of Hilary Duff. I saw it, and it was...OKAY! I mean, it wasn't the best movie in the world, but it wasn't THAT bad! i mean, sometimes i didn't get some parts, but most of the time, it was good. I can't see why so many people have so many bad feelings towards it... I mean I've seen much worse movies.... So basically, I think that the movie's rating depends on the kind of person you are and the kind of movies that you like to watch. I personally like these kinds of movies, and well, I think that this one isn't the BEST but it definitely isn't the WORST!

i enjoyed this movie, i thought it was pretty god movie for a relaxing day and an afternoon when i didn't need to think to hard. i thought there could be somethings that could have been done differently, but thats like every movie. i would think children 15-12 would enjoy this movie, because Hillary Duff. she is a great actress, although the movie is a little bit predictable. i will be thinking of buying this movie in the near future because it is entertaining. any movie that is entertaining is a good movie to me. if a movie was that bad that you would have stopped watching it half way through. do not stop the movie like 15 minutes into it because you need to give the movie a chance, let the movie get going.
Material Girls begins ghastly enough. After an opening title sequence that introduces cosmetic heiresses Ava (Haylie Duff) and Tanzie Marchetta (Hilary Duff) while Hilary Duff adds an updated spin on Madonna's pop classic "Material Girl," the action quickly opens on the type of Hollywood party familiar to anyone who keeps up with the comings and goings of Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton. In other words, it's a soiree for the young, rich, celebrated, and spoiled. Cut to the next day, where the girls are revealed as basically good-hearted but shallow, condescending, and if not outright stupid, at least completely ignorant when it comes to the real world. In these first minutes, The Simpleton Life seems like a more apt title for this movie. Luckily, it gets better. Not that the Duff sisters or director Martha Coolidge should be expecting any nominations come awards time, but as a piece of fluffy entertainment, it goes down painlessly enough. Mothers of the tween target audience will recognize the outlines of the story, which is a non-supernatural variation of 1987's Maid to Order (itself a teen comedy variation on It's a Wonderful Life). That movie starred Ally Sheedy as a spoiled rich kid whose fairy godmother transforms her into a servant to teach her a lesson. Material Girls is more mundane, as a scandal involving Ava and Tanzie's late father's cosmetics company renders them penniless and miserabletheir assets are frozen, and overnight they're turned into social pariahs. This is one of those movies where the trappings of wealth are simultaneously held up as objects to covet and ridicule, a Cinderella fantasy where Cinderella has to pay dearly for that ride in the pumpkin coach. As their friends desert them and Ava's TV star fiancé dumps her, the sisters get a painful lesson on just how superficial their lives have been. Circling around them like a shark is Fabiella (Anjelica Huston), their dad's rival, who is hoping to pick up the Marchetta company on the cheap. Only their Colombian housekeeper, Inez (Maria Conchita Alonso), stands by them, but even she has to roll her eyes at Ava and Tanzie's self-absorption and naiveté. Without status or money, these young things could easily become life's roadkill. The clash between the fantasy world that has been their birthright and the reality that's crashing down on their heads is, of course, what generates the laughs. Riding the bus, washing dishes, ironingall become mysteries to solve while they work surreptitiously to clear their father's name and save the company. Not that the movie is all life lessons and Scooby Doo moments. One thing that surprises the siblings as they move down market is the quality of the men they meet, as pro bono lawyer Henry (Lukas Haas) and lab technician Rick (Marcus Colonna) prove to be not only hot, but actually helpful. Hilary Duff was TV's sweet Lizzie McGuire, while Haylie recently has had a recurring role as a single mom on the family drama 7th Heaven, so it is not surprising that what Material Girls offers is pretty wholesome entertainment. Ava and Tanzie are ultimately charming once they have gotten their comeuppance. And while it just seems wrong that actors of the pedigree of Huston, Alonso, and Haas should find themselves reduced to playing second banana to the Duff sisters, their presence and their excellent performances add a layer of quality that the movie would otherwise lack. There is no edge to the movie at all, and that blandness will render it forgettable to anyone over the age of 12 or so, but for all that, it is pleasant enough, and occasionally even fun.
Well, It's Worth A Rent, If you want a family film.
