Pure nostalgia in 2022

I remember when I was a kid, maybe around 9 or 10 during the first seasons of the show, I used to wake up every morning in Malmö, my hometown in Sweden and watch Chuck. I remember it being some of the best things I've watched. I decided to revisit the old show some 15 years after the first season aired and it still holds up. I remember watching episode 10, season 1 and No one's gonna love you by Band of Horses started playing, and for a moment, just a small moment my eyes started filling up with tears. I started to remember the good old days when I was a little kid watching this show, when things were much simpler.

It's safe to say this show still holds up and if you haven't watched it yet, I would highly recommend you do if you enjoy proper comedy/action!

The greatest American action comedy TV series

Chuck is in my opinion, beyond any doubt, the funniest and the overall most entertaining American TV series on the air in 2008.

I do however not believe it is amongst the most "universal" in regards to what target audience it's ideally suited for. While not having any demographic numbers or survey results to refer to, I honestly believe it has a greater appeal to men than to women, although I do know both female and male fans of the series.

Chuck is basically an interesting and hilarious blend of comedy and action. It does not imitate other series, and does not have a boring and stereotypical concept that you feel that you've seen dozens of times before. It's really a breath of fresh air in the ever-growing jungle of TV series, of which few are worth spending time watching - in my humble opinion.

The main character, Chuck, is a geeky, modest, conscientious and somewhat shy person who is suddenly faced with many challenges in his daily life, trying to keep together the different parts of his life at the same time. His field of expertise is fixing computers. Viewers who are passionate about technology will probably be especially likely to "get" the humor of this show.

The very most brilliant achievement of this series is the unique chemistry between the characters. No one take themselves too serious, the actors deliver great performance and consistence in every episode, and the characters' spontaneous reactions are often enough to cause great laughter. The only "serious" character I can think of (who is rarely funny - undoubtedly by intention) is Chuck's sister - Ellie. She contributes greatly to the "balance" mentioned below, and is in that respect an important character.

Furhermore the series' perfect balance between gripping action scenes, risibility and self-irony is quite remarkable. It's both pleasant, fun and thrilling at the same time! I hope Chuck will continue to be such a success for a long time and that the creators continue to develop the concept so that it does not "grow old" fast. I look forward to its release on DVD in a greater variety of countries! Quickly summarized: A hilarious series, in my opinion the greatest American action comedy TV series ever!

Good balance between humour and serious.

This is a gem that kept me entertained for years.

It has FANTASTIC casting, the humour is often nerdy but not to much to exclude anyone else. Generally fun for the entire family.

It is a bit over the top and doesn't take itself to seriously, but can touch on the deeply heartfelt when it needs to. Over the course of the series you see the actors grow more and more into the characters.

The pacing is generally good, most side-characters wind up getting fleshed out and getting their own story arcs, the development both over a season and from season to season is well handled.

I'd honestly say a timeless classic.

A Brilliant mixture of Action, Romance and Comedy

In my line of work, I get very little time to sit down and enjoy something on the TV, or especially become enthralled in a TV series - until Chuck.

From the first episode, back when we were first introduced to the individually zany Chuck, right up to present day 2 seasons down the line - Every episode is a whirlwind of emotion, with the action of the plot, mixed with the comedy of the 3 bantering and finally the intermittent cover relationship which we all have our own opinions about.

It's been a long time since I set something aside and looked forward to it every single week - and to this day have never been disappointed by it!!!

BRAVO CHUCK!!

Best Ever TV Series Hero

Funny, drama, sexy what more anyone can ask? Chuck for me is the best hero in TV today, an ordinary guy that can do anything with the help of his best friends. Every character on this show was right on spot. Sarah the sexiest CIA agent anyone could ask. Casey the fearsome NSA agent that became Chuck's guard. Morgan the goofiest but ultimate best friend anyone could ask. The actors were incredible, i fell for every one of them, i am still looking what they are doing. Great creation of the writers, producers etc. Hope more like "Chuck" in the future. Maybe a happier finale could gain the 10 from me but it didn't so a great "9". Must see!!!

The best show I finally got around to watching !

Just started watching Chuck recently as all the seasons are now on Amazon and I am amazed at how good this show is given it aired almost 20 years ago . Every character is perfectly cast and so many great guest stars over the 5 seasons . You've got action , comedy , romance ... everything you could possibly want and more . The premise is so original and different , it's smart and keeps you guessing , I was hooked from episode one. I can't wait to see how it finishes but will miss it when I'm done . Definitely a fan favorite show that never got the awards recognition it deserved . I strongly recommend Chuck you need to watch this .

One of the best chemistry between lead actors on TV

I'm am so late to this show. But I'm so glad I found it. I only discovered this series in Dec 2022. Ten years after the show ended. From the very first episode I was hooked, and became a huge fan.

There is no denying the onscreen chemistry between Zachary Levi & Yvonne Strahovski. Playing the two lead characters of Chuck & Sarah. And the rest of the cast, Adam Baldwin, Joshua Gomez and the rest, are amazing supporting cast. All of them are likeable in their own unique way. The dynamic interaction of all the cast makes the show a cut above the rest. The casting director did a superb job hiring the right people for the parts. Then add great humour, wonderful script & interesting storylines makes for a fun and wonderful show. It's sad it ended.

VERDICT: A fun and entertaining show. A show that has something for everyone. A recommended watch.

NOTE: I think a spin-off series, focusing more on the staff and shananigans of "Buy More" would have been as funny and successful.

Love this series

If you have had difficulty finding a series with action, comedy and none of the current vulgarities...this series is for you. Chuck is a very likeable character and certainly holds this production together. His nerd cohorts are hilarious, although sometimes you just want to slap the lazy idiocy out of his best friend Morgan. Casey and Sarah round out the great cast with their different ways of operating as spies. Everyone in our house is thoroughly enjoying each episode which is hard to find these days. The absence of f-bombs is truly refreshing. I would highly recommend this series and it's longevity testifies to the quality of the writing and acting. Well done...we want to see more like this.

Funy, sexy, great cast

If you're looking for a fairly evergreen series to binge watch, this is a valid choice. I can't believe that I'm only now watching it--binge style. I actually thought it was a current series, and, hilariously, when successive seasons became available, I was like "wow how are they dropping these seasons so fast, especially given the SAG/AFTRA strike?". Then again, I might have been imbibing a little bit, and seeking to get to sleep by playing some light, action-packed, sexy, TV. Well, I didn't manage to get to sleep most of the time, and that's a compliment btw. Can't say I minded seeing a lot of Yvonne Strahovski--holy, holy.

I have only major complaint about the show, or, rather the people that produced it, and that was the the first three seasons featured a wonderful end-of-show theme that featured trombone-based brass shots that was the most brilliant thing I'd heard since the spider man theme of the 70s. Some idiot decided that in season 4 that would be "modernized/updated" or whatever. Whoever that person is/was I want them to know that I they are a very bad person. Messing with the end-theme was a crime against awesomeness which I would love to know the story behind. I bet it was a story of some exec being a d-b. How could you kill those awesome trombone hits? Yes, I'm bitter about it. Deprecating that God-like brass section for some synths in season 4 was the only bad thing about this show.

Funny, light series. Highly recommend it.

This show is incredible

Chuck is an action-comedy TV series that aired from 2007 to 2012. The show follows Chuck Bartowski, a nerdy and underachieving computer technician who accidentally downloads a top-secret database of government secrets into his brain. As a result, Chuck becomes a valuable asset to the government and is recruited to work with a team of spies to protect the country from threats.

One of the strengths of Chuck is its unique blend of genres. The show seamlessly combines elements of action, comedy, and drama to create a compelling and entertaining series. The show's humor is often tongue-in-cheek, and the action sequences are well-choreographed and exciting.

The characters in Chuck are likable and well-developed, with each member of the cast bringing their own unique personality and strengths to the team. The romantic subplot between Chuck and his CIA handler, Sarah Walker, is also well-executed and adds an emotional depth to the series.

The production values in Chuck are impressive, with high-quality cinematography and special effects. The show also features a great soundtrack, which adds to the overall atmosphere of the series.

Overall, Chuck is a highly entertaining and enjoyable TV series that will appeal to fans of action, comedy, and drama. Its unique blend of genres, well-developed characters, and impressive production values make it a must-watch for anyone looking for a fun and exciting TV show.

Delightful funny comedy with a serious heart

My initial reaction was to almost delete this series from my watch list but something happened. The collection of beautiful actors having fun with life and occasionally tackling a tricky espionage issue held my interest.

I fell in love with Chuck, Sarah, Ellie and Casey and tolerated the bizarre behaviour of Awesome, Jeff and Morgan as they weaved their path through a successful cover and real world spy action. The action shots must have been exhausting to film but miraculously the team surfaced from any fight looking fresh.

You have to watch this series. It was a pity that it ended but seven years is a lifetime in the movie business. Well done team.

I see what you did there...

I was genuinely dubious about this show, and put off watching it for quite some time. However, it is now firmly in my top 5 shows of all time. The reason? The sheer amount of pop culture references in each show. It is amazing fun spotting all the hidden references layered below the obvious ones - some not so obvious at all - for example a reference to the movie "Gotcha!" (that I only just got because I had watch that movie the night before) or a sneaky reference in one episode to "Firefly", in which Adam Baldwin also starred. This is stuff made just for geeks, and it is brilliant. On a regular day there are also subtle references to Mad Max, Die Hard, Dune, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Back to The Future, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and so on. The scripts are also quite good, with some genuine laugh out loud moments. Check it out, you won't be disappointed, but give a few episodes before you decide.. your brain won't be able to take it all in immediately (and you'll see what I did there).

I Love me some Chuck!

I LOVE this show. My husband and I have been watching since the very first episode, and were hooked from the first moment of the show. The casting is brilliant. Starting with our hero, the innocent, doe-eyed Chuck who does the deer in the headlights look to perfection through much of the show, to the brutally funny portrayal of Adam Baldwin's inscrutably sarcastic permasneer tough guy Agent Casey. Baldwin's sarcastic delivery of his dialogue is hysterical, and just makes me want to fall off the couch laughing every week. Yvonne Strahovski is great as the beautiful but vulnerable Agent in charge of Chuck's detail. Joshua Gomez is the annoying, yet endearing best friend. I love Sarah Lancaster as the older sister, and Captain Awesome is truly awesome as her fiancée.

I am in serious withdrawal and cannot wait for season two to resume.

brilliant

I love this show. I love the simplicity of it. It covers everything I look for in a TV show. It's entertaining, its fun, its got great casting and it makes me want to keep watching.

Baldwin is a legend as Casey, i first caught wind of him in Serenity and he brings a lot humour to this role. I wasn't familiar with Zach Levy before Chuck, but a friend of mine said he was good in a dodgy sitcom with Eric Roberts, and he's brilliant as chuck... i honestly cant think of anybody who would do the role justice as much... and as for Yvonne Strahovski, she is stunning and also amazing as Sarah. The supporting roles are also brilliantly cast, especially Morgan, and I'm also a big, big fan of Sarah Lancaster who was Gift Shop Girl in Scrubs...

This show deserves to run forever. I honestly can't think of a show that's such an honest joy to watch.

Smart, fast paced, and sincere

Chuck is the latest in a distinguished line of TV shows, plays, and films that explore an American archtype - the reactions of a normal, decent person when thrust in extraordinary circumstances. Zach Levi has a real Jimmy Stewart quality in this funny and well layered show, which is as much about Chuck's effect on jaded superspy professionals as it is about his slow awakening to his own potential. The they want to but can't love story between Chuck and his protector, the luminous Sarah Walker, is both sweet and heartbreaking (think Pam and Jim of "The Office", but with no real shot at happily ever after. Adam Baldwin is a hidden gem, striking exactly the right note of grumpy babysitter gradually won over by Chuck's essential decency and kindness.

Highly recommended.

Still living it, even after years gone by

I loved this when it first ran. Looked forward to each episode. The ensemble cast is charming. The filming and script embodies that charm as well

Started rewatching this in 2021 with my teenager and it still is a great show. And apparently the new generation loves it too, because my son loves it

Additionally, Adam Baldwin gives his normal performance style. So as a person who hates that firefly was cancelled way too soon, this show is a nice space to get more "Jayne Cobb " esque enjoyment.

Even the deep dive episodes on the outside characters are pretty fun.

What the Chuck?

I was late to the Cruck party. But I'm glad I was, because it meant that I could binge this show without any commercial or season breaks. Chuck is the type of show you fall in love with especially if you love, action, spy and espionage, great supporting cast, and characters you just fall in love with no matter how hard you try not to like them. Chuck is one of those shows that you can't wait to watch all episodes but at the same time you're regretting finishing the series. It's one of those shows where you hate to see it end, but love the fact that you stuck with it. Yes, there were plot wholes or some unexplained situations, but most of all this show was a fun spy show. John Casey, you're up there with all the other action heroes.

One of the best shows ever

I can only say that I absolutely adore this show and that it is one of my all time favorites. Starting with the first minute I had a blast watching it.

This show is about Charles "Chuck" Bartowski, a regular nerd who receives an email from an old friend with a program in which all secrets from the government are saved and from this moment on his live changes forever.

First of all the characters are fantastic and I love them. Not only Chuck. Of course he is awesome, funny, nice and always good for a laugh. Then Sarah Walker, the most beautiful and nice CIA Agent you could ask for and I must admit, that I had a huge crush on her in the show. John Casey, my personal favorite from the show and the best NSA Hitman. And at last we have Morgan Grimes, who is also a big nerd and the best friend of Chuck. But still there are many more supporting roles which are just brilliant and they fit so perfectly into this show and the world they have created. All of them do their part in this story and deliver cool and funny plotlines. All of them are so amazing and they have such a chemistry together on screen and it is just wonderfull to see how they all grow emotionally during this show and how they evolve and how their relationships grow.

The plotlines are amazing. They are thrilling and you always have something to laugh because the humor is brilliant. And sometimes you even have something for the heart.

But why does it only get a 9/10? Simply, I didnt really liked the last season. They changed the direction of the show a little bit and tried something new and I must say it didnt really worked for me. It wasnt bad, by I had hoped for something different to come to a conclusion. And the ending. It is not bad, but bitter sweet and it is also something I really dont like that much because you are left with a strange feeling when this show ends and i didnt really got the ending I was hoping for. At least that was my experience. Maybe it will be different for you and you will like how they ended it. Nontheless, I can only really recommend to watch this show because it is brilliant, thrilling, emotional and always good for a laugh

Greatest Off The Beaten Path Action/Comedy

I stumbled upon this gem 4 years back and binge watched the first three seasons in less than 2 weeks. This show is so very creative and never truly got the chance to be successful. It was just removed from Netflix unfortunately but is still one of my favorites. The show has 5 seasons and I would say the first 3 seasons contain some of the best episodes. The idea and execution of the entire show is so well done. The main character Chuck is funny and undeniably lovable just like his best friend Morgan. Chuck's romantic history may have him a little jaded when the beautiful and mysterious Sarah enters his life. If you're willing to give love a shot and want to have lots of laughs at this light-hearted action show Chuck is for you. I rated it a 9/10 because the final season does get a bit monotonous but the music, acting and plot are well worth the watch.

I want more

This show had great fight scenes and how they evolved everyone into their secret through the years shows how confident the writers were with the success of the show. Each character had an important role.

My favorite was Morgan. His loyalty and strong morals for friendship is admirable.

I have to admit that when I first started watching, I wondered why they casted Greg and Marsha Brady. But after the second season, I stopped thinking that and enjoyed Chuck and Sarah.

I got a kick out of the plugs for Subway, Toyota, even Hawaii. They came up tactfully in the episodes.

The intertwining of actors from past related shows were fun to put together. For example: Harry Tang was Vince Masuka (CS Lee) and Sarah was Hannah McKay (Yvonne Strahovski) in Dexter; John Casey was Jayne (Adam Baldwin) and Greta was River (Summer Glau) from "Firefly"; Greta was Cameron Phillips in "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicals" and Linda Hamilton (Chuck's and Sarah's mom) who played a "Sarah" in the "Terminator 2" movie. 'Superman', (Brandon Routh), and Lois Lane, (Kristin Kreuk), (even though Superman, was from the motion picture and Lois Lane, from "Smallville"). Ryan McPartlin, "Awesome", also had auditioned for Superman a couple of times.

I enjoyed watching Nicole Richie perform. She was pretty bad-ass.

The only thing I couldn't really get my teeth into was the relationship between Chuck and Sarah. I didn't feel like they were in love. But it didn't stop me from watching.

I wish the show continued. Now I have to try and find something else to get hooked on.

Give Chuck a break

I must say, people shouldn't be putting the show down as much as they are. If you've seen all the episodes that are out, then you know (if you didn't get hooked by the pilot or first few episodes) that it takes a few to catch onto. I admit I wasn't hooked by the first episode, but I was intrigued to give it more time. I watched all the episodes and must say it DOES have a lot of corny parts, but it's what makes it unique. There is a lot of genuine funny parts that give the show its own face and make it worth while to watch and pave the way for it to be great. I think this is a great show so far, once I got into it. If any show goes to prove that you can't judge it quickly by the acting quality and each episodes individual plot like most people seem to do, I believe the first season of Star Trek TNG is a perfect example of this, is it not? Look at how successful it was, and you don't even have to be a Trekkie to see that.

My overall point is, this show has potential, I am looking forward to future episodes, and if you've seen more a few episodes all the way through, then you either agree or disagree.
