This movie has a great premise, great actors, great characters. Unfortunately, the longer the movie goes on, the more frustrating it gets. The characters continue to make decisions that make ZERO sense. The plot also falls apart quickly everything is so quickly able to be solved if the characters used any common sense.
I figured it would be an mindless action thriller. It is an action thriller, but it's hard to be mindless with how obvious the characters are making bad decision after bad decision. Too many to be even remotely believable.
Again, all the actors did a great job with their characters, there are just so many obvious flaws in the story and plot that the movie became frustrating as it end on.

This movie is clearly riding the tail coats of the Die Hard franchise. Unfortunately, it is hampered by very lazy, unimaginative and unrealistic writing. The characters are taking one stupid decision after another to keep the plot going. The main character undergoes a transformation in two hours that is beyond believable, and doesn't make any sense. Jason Bateman as usual is doing a very decent job, but unfortunately that cannot save the movie. Overall, quite the disappointment.
This is becoming quite a common problem with Netflix movies: big budgets, some very decent actors, mediocre CGI, and absolutely terrible writing.

I was about to put this in the 5-star or possible 6-star category if you turned your brain off. But then it happened.
This is LAX, one of the busiest airports in the world. This is Christmas Eve, one of the busiest travel days in the world. Why is this important?
This entire movie is based upon ex machina. There are about 20+ situations that depends on perfect coincidence to make this movie works.
Empty bathrooms-check Empty baggage claims-check Empty parking lot-check No security at TSA checkpoint-check TSA agents leaving their posts and no one notices.
No 911 calls, or someone talking to a police-check. Bad guys finding their targets in LAX just by coincidence(9 times).
And biggest grievance. How the solution was done.
This movie is a sad indication that A. I. wrote this story. It is just painful.

"Carry On" might be the perfect movie for a lazy afternoon when you don't want to think too hard-because thinking is the enemy here. The premise had potential, but somewhere along the way, things got hilariously derailed.
The film is undeniably entertaining, but only if you switch off your brain and embrace the absurdity. Plot holes? Oh, there are more holes than plot. Continuity errors? At least 20+ mistakes-and that's just if you're casually watching. Characters defy logic, basic rules of physics go out the window, and the script seems like it was written in a rush, possibly on a napkin.
But therein lies the charm! If you view it as a parody of itself, the movie transforms into an unintentional comedy. It's the kind of film where you can gather friends, point out mistakes, and laugh more than you might during a supposed comedy.
Final Verdict: Watch it for the chaos. Skip it if you're expecting logic or coherence. It's a 5/10 if you take it seriously, but a solid 8/10 for "so bad it's good" entertainment.

Jason Bateman tried, the writing wasn't original at all. But at least it wasn't a remake. The supporting cast was pretty bad and the plot of the movie had some major holes. I can't decide who was more incompetent the HLS in this movie or Trump's security team in Pennsylvania. I don't know who signs off on these movies at Netflix but honestly I'd rather have less good movies than a lot of bad movies and this is just another notch on Netflixs belt of terrible movies. I wish they took the five minutes it takes to tighten up these scripts. Maybe hire some better supporting characters and quit with the typical.

This movie offers nothing new and feels like a lazy rehash of better films. The script is uninspired, filled with underdeveloped characters, and features a villain with unclear motives. The lack of tension or stakes makes it hard to stay engaged. Clichés abound, such as the obligatory Russian weapon, while the humor consistently falls flat. Naive plot twists and absurdly unrealistic scenarios insult the audience's intelligence, treating them like 5-year-olds. For example, two characters roam a massive airport fully armed, somehow evading detection and controlling every camera. With no credible danger or suspense, you're better off rewatching Phonebooth or Die Hard.

Very disappointing. Predictable, stereotypes at every turn. The acting is bad or perhaps it was the bad writing. Some lines that aren't supposed to make you laugh, make you laugh because they are so bad.
We will usually watch anything with Jason Bateman and we were excited for this movie. Unfortunately, Jason Bateman couldn't even make it good.
Most of the characters are stereotypes, one dimensional and not very likable. One is even cartoon like in his absurdity.
This review needs to be a certain number of characters but I don't really have much else to say, except I'd go watch Die Hard instead.

I wanted to turn it off at 30 minutes. The writing sets up suspense through the incompetence of the key characters, the TSA and other law enforcement agencies. Unbelievable mistake after mistake. The hero making bad choices and the public endangered by it.
The result is 2 hours of eye-rolling frustration.
Time after time, we verbally asked each other, "Why would he do that?". The answer seems to be because the writer didn't spend time with real airport security, finding out how real threats try to exploit the system.
Please, write believable stories. Then the suspense is naturally powerful. Stop treating your audience like dummies or perhaps, in this case, like those young enough to enjoy Ratchet and Clank.

Just like Die Hard...if Die Hard had no action or personality
This movie was mediocre at best. It had no character development, the action sequences were mundane and uninspired, the writing was bad and unoriginal, and the movie overall did not have a believable storyline...it's insulting to Die Hard to make any comparison and actually not fair to Carry On to hold it to that level of filmmaking. I have no idea why they are promoting it as such. I was excited with the promise that 90's action movies were back and so disappointed to find that this was not the case, at least not with this movie "Carry On"
Guess I will have to "carry on" with my search for a decent action movie.

The first 45 minutes were genuinely fun, entertaining, and intriguing. But then the plot began to unravel. So many moments were completely nonsensical that they overshadowed the enjoyment built up in the first half.
I understand that a fun action film doesn't need to be entirely realistic to be enjoyable. I can absolutely appreciate Christmas/action/pure entertainment films for what they are-I didn't press play expecting The Godfather.
However, when characters start making baffling, over-the-top decisions that actively sabotage their own goals, it's a clear sign that the writers have, quite literally, lost the plot. For me, many scenes felt absurd due to implausible character behaviour and laughably inaccurate depictions of airport security and police procedures-things most viewers know to be wildly untrue. It made me wonder whether the filmmakers were simply strapped for time or if they thought the audience wouldn't notice (or care). There's often a fine line between fun escapism and outright ridiculousness, and this film crossed firmly to the wrong side.
That said, credit where it's due: the actors did a great job, especially considering what they had to work with. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to save the film. I really, really wanted (and tried) to like this, and I came away disappointed.

Quite good fun and easy to watch. Very much acting by numbers and full of cliches. You don't hard to be a genius to see exactly what is going to happen. For an airport that was meant to be busy, it felt very empty and chaotic at all. Clearly saving money by not having enough extras.
The actors put in fair performances with Jason Bateman plays the character he always plays, just a bit meaner; hard to take him seriously.
Nice to see a couple of old Shield actors in this but they are a bit wasted.
The film had potential but we've seen it all before and it just feels like a cheap knock off of Die Hard.

Beautiful characters, good looking sets, good concept and that's about it for bright spots. The beginning offers some feel good moments to get you started. At several points along the way they take care to stress the importance of family.
There are quite a few familiar faces that I recognized from previously viewed projects. I find it a welcome surprise when I see familiar but unexpected faces in a project. I won't share any specifics so as not to give any spoilers but I'll just say the project's GPS went wonky as many of them often do. It's tough to have faith when the GPS goes wonky.
Nice effort though Carry On team 🤙

This movie is not bad, it is not good either just somewhere in between. If fails dismally in many places. The story is not coherent and it's plot blunders after blunder. If it were still in the 90s this would have been a straight to DVD release.
Watching films like this makes you realise that studios, producers, directors, script writers etc. Expect that we will be gullible enough to watch and hopefully enjoy such mediocrity. But then again you watch some of the high ratings here then you realize that there are such people among is who enjoy this.
It was like watching a Tyler Perry sitcom, upsetting. I want my 2 hours back.

If you're going in , you're expecting this to be as good as the first two Diehard movies , you are going to be disappointed. No where near as good as them.
It kind of dragged, periods in the movie where nothing happened , was somewhat all over the place , drawn out, and to a point " down right boring ". This was a two hour movie that seemed like a three hour movie.
They tried too hard to make it seem like Diehard but it did not work.
Jason Bateman put in an honest , good performance and you can appreciate that he was there for more than a paycheck.
All in all it was a yawner, and the action scenes were non realistic.

Not sure why i watched this airport set Netflix thriller expecting a first class movie, when all it is really is stuck in economy.
I guess the central idea is what got the film greenlit, and Netflix must have been excited to possibly have a Christmas "Diehard" on their hands. But its one of those films where the terrorists plans (once 1 or 2 twists are revealed) seem so complicated they would almost definitely never work out, and only continue because the movie needs them too, because of characters stupidity or because of pure coincidence.
Overall its all just very daft and far fetched but Taron Egerton And Jason Bateman do a decent job of convincing us the movies more than it is. Even if everyone else couldn't even convince me its even Christmas time in the movie.

This is a ridiculoulsy unoriginal bside action film that overstays it's welcome. Going for 2 hours when it should have been 90 minutes for a start. It shows as it gets progressively worse as it goes on, after a great start.
You can pick the moment the film goes downhill, when rather than just letting an action scene proceed on its own merits, they play a cheesy (but great) pop christmas hit over the action. Its so stupid I probbaly shouldve stopped then and there, most movies arent guardians of the galaxy or Tarantino.
The film does a great job at setting the scene, the characters, especially the main protegonist, down on his luck, unambitious but dedicated hero, Ethan who's played brilliantly by Egerton junior whos the only real bright spot in this film.
Even though we've seen the evil middle aged mercenary white guy whos planned everything to a tee a million times Bateman does a good enough, not a great job (cash in role if youll ever see one). The introduction of a tough as nails black female cop and a gay couple feels inserted, but isnt shoved down your throat like Netflix is apt to do.
This was entertaining enough, but would've been better if made 20 years ago. Netflix just cant help themselves - I cant help but feel they wouldve pushed for this to be 2 hours long rather than 90 minutes long.

I am a huge Jason Bateman fan and this movie wastes his talent. The plot holes are big enough to fall through, and the movie does several times, the dialogue wooden, and the acting sub par. The only thing realistic was the disrespect for the TSA. I just don't understand who greenlights these films at Netflix, they constantly dissapoint. Stick to the shows. Okay I have 226 characters left and don't want to dedicate one more to this forgettable film so I will just pay a tribute to my dogs who are pretty good movie partners and much more behaved than the people who go to the movies and the airports now days.
Carry On
I have seen to seen this movie 10 times before, can they not come up with something new with a less predictable and irritating story.
We then had some ridiculous plot twists and universally stiff acting from everyone. This combined with a nauseatingly wordy script that droned on and on.
It is a challenge to identify any redeeming features of this, quite frankly, boring movie. Taron did his best with the material he was given but what with the mucho posturing, gross stereotyping and TV acting even he couldn't redeem this turkey. There was one good action scene where the car turned upside down and some impressive camerawork.
Over this is a 4 outta 10 why did I waste my time.
