As with everything else strange and wonderful that is happening in media these days -- remember, the History Channel just did a 6 hour movie starring Kevin Costner and it was brilliant -- you need context. And the context is that TV has seen more changes in the last 5 years than in the last 50. Literally. As all the various types of media compete for that most-coveted incremental viewer (who can then be parlayed into the even-more-coveted advertising sponsor), the Rule Book goes out the window, and so does even a pretence of censorship. As I write this I see that the Muses who rule TV are even promising a fall 2013 series based on the story of the Headless Horseman. Won't THAT be special? In other words, this year it appears we have all opted for the Red Pill and have entered an era of TV which knows no bounds, obeys no conventions, and where anything - literally anything - can be repackaged and re tasked into a series. IN THIS CONTEXT, it becomes clear that here the writers and producers have taken every camp movie ever done (good or bad, who cares), tossed them all into the proverbial blender, chosen a production setting so remote and obscure that (possibly) the Australian Tourist Bureau PAID THEM to shoot there, and took a chance that someone might like it. For this reviewer, the series has a kind of wacky energy which is engaging, and the actors all seem to be using this exercise as some of sort of springboard to better parts and better days. I suppose this is where I am supposed to say how terrible it is, but the fact is that Rachel Griffiths is good in almost everything she does, and the hyper-kinetic feel of the show offers a strange attraction. Bottom line, not as bad as the critics say, not as good the network was hoping. Better than reruns of HAVE GUN WILL TRAVEL.
I think it's a great show I look forward to watching it every Sunday. it's funny and it shows what camps can be like. I love it and as always Rachael Griffith does a great job. I love anything she stars in, she's one of our great Aussie actresses. The show is just showing what kids really get up to at camps and to me they are having fun. I wish we had camps like this in Australia. And it's great to see so many Aussie actors in the one American show. It's just a shame it wasn't given a real chance. At least it does beat all the reruns of my house rules or a movie we've seen over and over again. Its a show that let's us see kids growing and becoming themselves away from schools. I think it's a fun show.
My wife and I appened upon this little gem by accident way back when it was new.. decided to give it a shot and enjoyed its entire season. Sadly some dolt killed this series.. a big mistake as is easily seen by its IMDB rating alone.
It could have been better sure but nothings perfect and in our opinion it easily was worth the time spent
Suffice to say the series is worth the time to watch for a light hearted laugh and while it is not currentlyly avail on bluray etc etc there are some sources still where the entire 1st season can be ound with a little digging. :)
I also advise everyone ignore the retentive rantings of reviewers like "reapersgames" whom obviously needs to get out more and spend less time worrying about what others do and more introspection oh his/her own obvious failings.

I hadn't seen any previews for this show and just happened to stumble upon it. I actually really enjoyed show, and was pleasantly surprised. While the situations in the show may be somewhat unrealistic, it reminds me of some older movies depicting shenanigans at camp. If you don't sit and criticize a fake TV show for being "unrealistic," it's quite enjoyable to just sit back and enjoy the character development. It's obvious they tried to make the characters cover a wide range in an attempt to appeal to multiple ages, from high school, to college, to middle aged. Character development seemed to get off to a promising start. I find myself looking forward to next episode and hoping they continue to reveal more about characters' pasts and different sides to them. Most of the situations set up for future episodes didn't seem to promise emotional drama (except possibly one), but instead seemed to imply chances for the characters to grow and form relationships in future episodes. This show may appeal to more of a slightly younger crowd, such as myself. As always, though, it is difficult to predict if a show will continue its promising start. I thought the first episode left the door open for a show that I will enjoy watching in the future. I hope they take it in the right direction.
I caught the first one of these and was skeptical as we don't have things like camp in the UK. So I thought id watch it just to get an insight of American summer holidays. (away from spring break). I thought it was for children but was pleasantly surprised that it was a family show with lots of adult themes, coming of age and relationships. This is a must for anyone who like the feel good factor and the normal every days struggles in life even in holiday season. The characters really pull you into there personality's and make you feel what they are experiencing. The whole feel of the show is a lovely joyful experience and one i am glad to be able top watch due to the wonder of the internet. Well done guys.
