The Banbury Intricate Craft Circle continue to fight for women's emancipation in their genteel way. They decide to picket the post office but there has been a mistake in the size of the placards so they end up being too heavy and cumbersome. It is also not helpful that one of the women cannot spell correctly.

When a statue in the library is damaged, blame falls on the women of the craft circle. PC Thackeray is sent to investigate, he is someone Margaret went out with some years earlier and she still carries a torch for him.

Despite some evidence that the women were ruminating some violent action, PC Thackeray takes a softly softly approach when he interviews the women.

There is a talented cast here with Jessica Hynes, Vicki Pepperdine, Rebecca Front, but they are just not that funny. The problem is Margaret as the star is too perfect as a character.

When Helen is being interrogated by the constable in the kitchen, a framed photograph on the wall, seen over her right shoulder, shows women with bobbed hair in Marcel waves, a hairstyle not seen until the 1930s, although this series is set in 1910.
