A slow burn with a extremely disappointing ending

This film is beautifully shot and the Snowdonia setting is stunning. I can&#39;t help but feel that the filmmaker got caught up in all this and used it to death. The most frustrating thing for me is that neither of the two leads were Welsh with that being immediately evident once they said their first lines. Also, there were a range of different dialects in this rural community - some characters had north walian accents, some west walian and some south walian. That for me took away a huge amount of believability and authenticity. Might just be because I&#39;m Welsh but I couldn&#39;t see past it.

Nothing in this movie, slow , no actions no conversations no events , weak story and bad end .

It&#39;s beautifully shot and the story starts out interesting but just never really went anywhere. Sad, sad, sad is the way I&#39;d describe this movie.

It&#39;d be nice to know that there is a revenge sequel to &quot;Gwen&quot; in the works; alas, as it stands, it is just a fragment of a much bigger part. I read that &quot;Gwen&quot; was horror, that&#39;s why I checked it out. It isn&#39;t. I read it was drama. Well, there are a few bits with some people yelling at each other, but that&#39;s all the drama there is. It&#39;s really nothing more than a long, drawn out broodfest in a dreary countryside with sheep and horses and chickens, oh my! That&#39;s it. Nothing more, nothing less. Not recommended.

Not a horror movie whatsoever. This might be a good film if you are looking for a slow, bleak drama without much action, but it is FAR from a horror movie. It is very atmospheric and bleak but the plot is very lacking and I ended up quite disappointed after watching this. Maybe it was because the film was listed in the horror genre of the streaming platform I use. I stuck with the film hoping for the plot to pick up but by the end of it I was irritated I stayed the whole time. There was one shot of literally just a few seconds that could actually be considered &quot;horror&quot;, but I would not recommend this movie to anyone looking for a scary film.

OK, so maaaaaybe it isn&#39;t THAT dull but to say it is a gripping movie is really stretching credulity. It starts innocent enough and the heart nailed to the door in one early scene and the sinister cover image of the movie gives hope that this may turn out to be a halfway decent horror/supernatural movie. After about 40 minutes with nothing scare inducing or horrific going on one starts to wonder when this will start to get interesting. 80 minutes into it, one still awaits SOMETHING that will justify the minutes of boredom that preceded it and the finale is just one big let down with the mother killed by the villagers and the house set afire and now one is left to wonder what the girls will now do with no parents to raise them. If there is a plus to this movie is that it is atmospheric and the acting is good but that&#39;s about as much as I can say. I bought this movie from a thrift store based on the interesting cover and back cover description which showed promise, I may just donate it back to them!😆

This movie is visually well done and the acting is quite amazing but the story is boring and leads nowhere.
Half the time you don&#39;t know what&#39;s going on and not quite certain of what they wanted to show all the time.
Freaky situations, uncomfortable discussions, crying and screaming but that&#39;s about it and leads nowhere, something happens but you don&#39;t know why and you never get any why anything is happening.

This was a big disappointment. As other reviewers have said, the scenery is wonderful but this is the only good thing in this film. This is an unremiiting tale of misery and depression. There is no let up, one disaster after another, filmed slowly to prolong the misery. They did not waste any money on a script so this was sparse but it was delivered by actors portraying exagerated stereotypes. The major baddy is an evil capitalist - if you want to imagine him just think of the Nazi era, or Russian communist, cartoons of capitalists - waistcoat, watch chain, wide sideboards and a top hat - all that is missing is the sinister cackle. The two girls, on the other hand, have lovely hair and complexions despite living in grinding poverty. There are a number of of mistakes : if all your sheep are killed you are unlikely to throw away the fleeces and carcasses and you do not butcher a horse with a hatchet! In a way it is a pity the scenery is so spectacular, as this film shows, but at the same time this film kills the tourist industry as you would want to give this area a body swerve.

The ending if it can be called ending ruins the very good acting, the film setting, the plot !!!!!! Everything!!!! Never saw a appalling , lausy,sloppy and inconsistent one in my whole life Not recommended!!!! Watch Little house on the prairie instead.

If you have any battles with depression DONT watch this! If you are an animal DONT watch this or you will end up depressed. Basically if you don&#39;t want to be sad... just don&#39;t! If you like horror this isn&#39;t, horrific yes but I am clueless as to why Shudder a horror channel would make this. Dreary is not creepy it&#39;s just sad, like this movie. I kept watching expecting an aha moment like in The Others, well it came only it lasted a moment then it ends as bleak as it started. Now I need to find a feel good movie!!

Beautiful scenery, and some believable acting let down by an utterly tedious plot. I first looked at my watch after 45 mins - it felt like an hour and half. The &quot;hardship&quot; is so overdone that it rapidly became comical and any sense of sympathy with the characters was completley lost. I&#39;m afraid I walked out before the end. Such a shame - Wales is a beautiful country with wonderful stories and the possibilities for portraying strong positive messages even in the midst of showing injustice, both past and present. I was looking forward to the landscapes, ychydig o frawddegau Gymraeg and something to feel proud of.
