Very well done, acting is top notch. Robin Williams premise is reworked a bit as there is no RV only an SUV, but the rest is the same. It's a nice family show however, and his antagonist is wonderfully annoying. The pit falls, too much luggage, bathroom breaks, aggravating siblings, and road hazards are hilarious and well timed. We've all been there! Will he make it to the meeting with a great pitch or be left without a job? His family is unaware of the real reason their plans have been changed from Zanzibar to Durban and he tries to keep everyone in the dark about it. Will his family finally call him Baba instead of by his first name of Joseph? Will they rally around him in the end to provide the support he needs to make his pitch successful? Watch and find out! Enjoy the journey as much as we did!
Keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout, amazing acting and very realistic. It's frustrating to watch the police miss chances and allow a killer and abuser to go on bail for the holidays! What were they thinking?! Plus give virtually no support to the victim and force her to remain for the holidays "in case she's needed"... what?! He can go, she can not. The only nibble I have is when she gets the news and calls her brother in Texas and says "Happy Christmas". No one, I repeat, NO ONE in Texas says "Happy Christmas". Ever. It's Merry Christmas in the States at this time. Somehow it really bugs me. Get it together man!
What a ride!
The insanity these characters go through is amazing! It's funny and sweet and horrible and bizarre all at the same time! They are well and truely backed into a corner. There is no coming out of this unscathed. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE is compromised in some way. The vicar and his wife SEE the hilarity of their impossible situation. They have a quiet laugh about it...but it's all real...and it's NOT funny. It's actually a touching scene, showing who they really are, beneath what they've become.
I have to admit, I totally understand where our maths tutor is coming from, but she isn't very likable. Of course she isn't! She's locked in a BASEMENT and chained to a pipe!! I can see her trying to stay alive. She knows what's involved, she knows what they're feeling, she also knows she has to do everything in her power to stay alive...wouldn't you?
I don't know how to root for everyone...the vicar, his wife, their son, the maths teacher, the somehow lovable mass murderer with the photographic memory...the only one you don't feel sympathy for is the journalist...she seems so opportunistic somehow. Willing to sell out her "friend" for a chance at an interview with a man who killed his wife. A genius, no less.
Its a lot, but it's worth it.

I am not sure why some didn't get this show. It's a very interesting dilemma they find themselves in. Stanley Tucci is perfect as always, dry humor abounds. It's perfectly obvious how all the characters find themselves in all this trouble. Trying to fix it, of course, makes everything much, much worse.
The fun of this show is getting you involved in trying to figure out how to get everyone involved out of this mess. And boy...is it a MESS! Pitting everyone against each other...raises the tension. Ben complicates things in the normal, "I'm only trying to help you Dad..duh" way. David Tenant is truely stuck, well and truely stuck. There is no turning back unless you take responsibility for your own part in this huge mess. It only gets worse the more they twist. A very fun and interesting idea!

I am enjoying the slow build of the show so far. The over sexed teen, no surprise there, is all full angst. The whole township seem in on the stalking. I definitely do NOT trust the realtor, she keeps stirring the pot about maybe your husband is cheating...with a young girl...sell the house NOW! Oh, and let me be your realtor. Creepy "home inspector". Why does the police chief drive a $250k car? Lots of suspects. It's also strange how everyone has access to a locked house, plus they all know everything that the family does. Creep factor of 9 for sure. I don't understand how a kitchen remodel doesn't take apart the kitchen...but Suspense is great so far.
Sweet movie with lots a great character actors having a great time. It's a nice film about coming to terms with death and regret. Leave any preconceived notions, this is a film about getting in touch with yourself, letting go, and moving on. John Goodman is excellent as a man trying his best to get back to Miss Hotchkiss' School of dance to keep his promise made 40+ years before. He passes a bread truck, driven by Frank Keane, then has a terrible accident. Keane calls for help and gets an earful about the appointment and a promise. Excellently done, well cast, and sweet. It's good to let go and move on.
Yes it's slow, in the sense of no big explosions or high drama, but it keeps it's footing and draws you into the deeper story. A story of a young boy growing into a man and the trials and tribulations he goes through to get there. He starts off in an idyllic countryside setting, lots of friends, lots of fun outdoors, a loving Mother figure helping him learn right from wrong. His birth Mother comes to visit him and tells his foster Mother that she is working hard to get a place for herself and her son. This hits the Foster Mother hard, she loves the boy she has raised thus far and his real Mother is mostly unknown to him. His Mother comes to bring him to London, into a whole new world of strange food, strange home (with extra responsibilities), and no friends. It's the story of him trying to navigate drug dealers, bullies, and bad influences to come out with his self respect intact. I loved it. It's not for everyone maybe, but it was awesome to me. Very heartfelt and uplifting. It's a hard world he is thrown into, and don't we all know it!
A good mix of comedy and drama. Vanessa Bayer and Molly Shannon are best in small doses normally, but here it works. It's a thoughtful show with insecurities we all face. A great mix of drama, comedy, and reality. No one is an island.
Ok, I admit, the first episode...yeah, that was a tough sell. I stuck with it though and have been mightily rewarded. It is a masterful character study. There is the poor wife, left out of his inner life which she desperately needs to be able to share his troubles. His dying Mother, who can see he's at his wits end but is powerless to help him. His snarky partner who is trying to do right by the book. His childhood friend who is using him for his own ends. He is definitely between a rock and a hard place. I don't know how he holds it all together...a man against the wall, with no outs. Brilliantly directed, you will cheer for the good, the strength that you see in everyone! It's brilliant. Stick with it. Trust me.
Casting is amazing, storyline highly engaging, nearly perfect film! Hugh Grant has found his calling! Colin Farrell is wonderful as usual, he can morph into anyone! Watch and see! You will love it!
