What comes up on the screen as the title is the Hebrew word for 'Head' or Chief, and indeed the main central character of this outstanding series is the Head of the Secret Service.
There are a number of parallel plots which will come together at the end, but will also leave us looking forward to season 2.
It starts with the rescue of a young arab woman who has been an Israeli informer in Gaza for many years, and a gripping attempt to extract her.
But details of this and of other supposedly secret activities have been leaked, and there is a very serious search being made to identify where the leaks are coming from as it is clear that it is from within.
For various reasons, the head of the service - Itamar - is under considerable pressure to resign or be dismissed, and we are gradually led to try to guess who is behind this attempted coup from the inside.
A brilliant computer expert who worked with the agency, then left to form her own independent company, comes back to try to sort out where the leaks are coming from, and this means linking up again with her former boy friend who in-between married someone else but that marriage failed. But many people in the agency saw the woman as a traitor and she spent some years in jail in the US.
At the end, many - not all - of these loose parallel strands will link up, but that is not the main joy watching this series.
Rather it is the different human situations, the personal; conflicts, the excellent acting and direction.
The Israeli lead actor has been featured in many other series, he is very good, as is the arab woman, and they are very well supported by the rest of the cast.
There are some similariies with Fauda - the situation in Gaza obviously, and that there is much arabic spoken, but this series has far less violence and shooting, is much more cerebral - 'who did or didn't do what?' very highly recommended.
