Larry David & Barack Obama Team For HBO Sketch Comedy
Larry David at an event for The 70th Primetime Emmy Awards (2018)
Here’s an unlikely pairing: Larry David and President Barack Obama are making a sketch comedy for HBO.

The network has ordered the series, which will focus on American history, and will feature cast members of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

The logline: President and Mrs. Obama wanted to honor America’s 250th anniversary and celebrate the unique history of our nation on this special occasion…But then Larry David called.

The untitled, half-hour limited series is written by David and his Curb partner Jeff Schaffer, who also directs. It will also feature “noteworthy” guest stars.

Former President Obama said, “I’ve sat across the table from some of the world’s most difficult leaders and wrestled with some of our most intractable problems. Nothing has prepared me for working with Larry David.”

David added, “Once Curb ended, I celebrated with a three-day foam party. After a violent allergic reaction to the suds,...

‘King Of The Hill’ Revival Casts Ronny Chieng To Take Over Voice Of Khan; Unveils Season 14 Trailer
Ronny Chieng at an event for The Daily Show (1996)
Comedian and The Daily Show correspondent Ronny Chieng has joined the Season 14 cast of Hulu’s King of the Hill revival, taking over the voice of Khan Souphanousinphone. He replaces Toby Huss, who voiced the fan-favorite character on the show’s first 13 seasons. Huss takes over the role of the conspiracy-minded Dale Gribble, voiced by the late Johnny Hardwick.

Hulu announced in 2023 that Hardwick would return for the series’ streaming revival. He had not completed recording the new season at the time of his death.

Khan is Hank’s Laotian neighbor who lives with his wife Minh. Khan is arrogant and has maintained his superiority complex towards his Arlen neighbors. He is ultra-competitive and often butts heads with Hank as he attempts to “win” at life. He loves his daughter Connie, but tries to control her life and thinks she is too good to associate with Bobby Hill.

‘Squid Game: The Challenge’ Renewed for Season 3 at Netflix
Darius Wilson, LeAnn Wilcox Plutnicki, Yu Hannah Kim, Ashley Tolbert, Jordan Levoux, and Kyle in Squid Game: La sfida (2023)
Netflix has mapped out the future of Squid Game — or at least its reality-show version of it.

The streamer has renewed Squid Game: The Challenge for a third season, matching (for the moment) the number of seasons for the Korean blockbuster on which it’s based. Netflix has also set a Nov. 4 premiere date for season two of the competition.

Squid Game: The Challenge features 456 contestants in a re-creation of the games in Squid Game, minus the part where eliminated players are murdered. Netflix says season two will feature some new challenges as the players compete for a $4.56 million prize.

The show premiered in November 2023 and had a solid run, though it didn’t come close to the world-dominating showing of the scripted Squid Game. The reality series finished first among English-language shows in Netflix’s worldwide rankings for its first two weeks and held a top 10 spot for five weeks.

Annie Potts has joined the cast of “Best Medicine,” Fox’s upcoming U.S. adaptation of the hit U.K. medical dramedy “Doc Martin.”

The series stars Josh Charles as Martin Best, a brilliant surgeon whose gruff, lone-wolf attitude sticks out when he moves from Boston to a quaint fishing town in Maine. ‘The View’: Ana Navarro Accuses Trump of Trying to ‘Make America White Again’ to Strong Audience Reaction
Image
The Friday, July 11, episode of The View kicked off with the women discussing “Alligator Alcatraz,” an immigration detention center in Florida. As Joy Behar pointed out, “Families of detainees say the conditions are horrible and dangerous, but some Maga faithful are treating it like some kind of tourist attraction.” The conversation then opened up to immigration policies in the United States, and Ana Navarro had a lot to say. After pointing out that there were reports of undocumented immigrants working for Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago when he was first running for president, she insisted what’s going on at “Alligator Alcatraz” is “horrible.” “If you are out there in the Everglades, driving out there and getting out of your car to take a picture [of ‘Alligator Alcatraz’] as if it was the Eiffel Tower, you are a racist and you are a horrible human being,” Navarro said. She also pointed out that certain...

Criminal Minds: Evolution is heading into its 19th season. Cook as Jennifer “JJ” Jareau, Kirsten Vangsness as Penelope Garcia, Aisha Tyler as Dr. Tara Lewis, and Adam Rodriguez as Luke Alvez. Matthew Gray Gubler (Dr. Spencer Reid) and Daniel Henney (Matt Simmons) didn’t return, with scheduling making it impossible for guest spots — until Season 18. Gubler returned in the third episode of the season, for the funeral of JJ’s husband Will (Josh Stewart). “We were so lucky to get him, that the stars aligned for him to be there and for such an important episode and such an emotional time. ‘Betting on Beloit’: Konya Hendricks Schuh on Disagreeing With Her Mom in New House-Flipping Series
Image
“Oh geez,” exclaims Konya Hendricks Schuh as she shimmies a sofa through the front door of a historic home she’s renovating in Beloit, Wisconsin, in this 12-episode house-flipping series’ two-part debut. Hendricks started her business in town and raised her family nearby. When the hamlet was ranked “the state’s worst place to live” by USA Today in 2019, the mother-daughter team stepped up. Diane Hendricks had previously worked on efforts to revitalize the entire industrial riverfront, finding new uses for the once-abandoned factory buildings. “Beloit has a great history,” Schuh says. “It’s a place people came to achieve the American dream. Lena Dunham is back in the spotlight, and eight years after the conclusion of “Girls,” we missed her. We’ve all known Dunham to be a voice of a generation, and she’s now packing all her years of celebrity into her latest magnum opus: “Too Much.”

No. What is different, though, is the inclusion of nods to her own viral moments. This is Dunham laying bare for audiences once more — and only her true fans, raised being way too online, would get all the references to her lore.

‘Jeopardy!’ Fans Call Out Show Over ‘Confusing’ James Bond Clue
Image
Jeopardy! clues can often be tricky, but it doesn’t help matters when the phrasing of a question confuses viewers. On Monday’s (July 7) episode, contestants Ashley Caval Curto, Vince Carter, and reigning champion Scott Riccardi were faced with a Final Jeopardy! clue that had some viewers at home scratching their heads. The clue read: “The last 2 Best Song Oscar winners whose titles were the same name as the movie they were in had this man in the leading role.” Both Riccardi and Carter answered correctly with “Who is Daniel Craig?” while Curto responded with the incorrect, “Who is Timothée Chalamet?” The clue referred to the songs “No Time to Die” and “Skyfall”—both Oscar-winning tracks that share their titles with the James Bond films for which they were written. “No Time to Die” was performed by Billie Eilish, while “Skyfall” was sung by Adele. ‘Deadliest Catch’: Why Jake Anderson, Keith Colburn & Crews Are Facing Crisis
Image
Deadliest Catch returns for its 21st season on Friday, August 1, which will see the fishing crews on the hunt for red king crab. However, behind the on-screen drama and dangers is a bleak story of economic crisis. The new season will feature the likes of Jake Anderson and Keith Colburn, along with their iconic vessels, as they travel the Bering Sea. The fleet will be heading to Adak Island, a former military base in the Aleutians West Census Area of Alaska, in search of the alleged resurgence of red king crab. According to National Fisherman, the real story beyond the on-screen “gold rush” is actually one of frequent closures, biological uncertainties, and a struggling industry. The outlet reports that red king crab fishery in Bristol Bay, once one of the most valuable in the region, has been closed since the 2021–2022 season due to low stock assessments. There are limited harvesting opportunities in the Western Aleutians,...

One of the bags is placed on an oversized scale, and the contestant must then place two of the three remaining bags on the same side of the scale. ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ Should’ve Let the Dead Rest: TV Review

Hoda Kotb Adopts New Family Member 6 Months After ‘Today’ Exit
Image
Hoda Kotb‘s post-Today plans included adding an adorable new member to her family. In a Thursday, July 10, Instagram post, Kotb revealed that she and her two daughters, Haley and Hope, recently adopted a puppy. “It’s official! Meet our newest addition— Waffles!” she captioned a clip of herself and her girls welcoming the pup home. “Here, take her. She’s yours,” a woman said as she handed the dog to Kotb, adding that Waffles was “sleeping” on the car ride over to Kotb’s house. Kotb proceeded to place the puppy in Hope’s arms after she asked if she could hold her. “Look how cute she is,” Kotb exclaimed in the clip. Haley, for her part, gave the dog some loving pets on the head. Fans gushed over Kotb’s latest addition in the post’s comments. “Nothing like having a dog as a child. Adorable!!” one fan wrote,...

‘Murderbot’ Creators Defend Robot’s Decision to Ditch Its Found Family in Finale
Image
[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for Murderbot Episode 10, “The Perimeter.”] The finale of Murderbot saw the title robot (Alexander Skarsgård) wake up to have its memory wiped by the Company, a new governor module installed, and a client assignment of the worst order. By the end, though, it was freer than ever. In the episode, Dr. Mensah (Noma Dumezweni) worked furiously to secure its release by the corporation’s reluctant board, with Gurathin (David Dastmalchian), Pin-Lee (Sabrina Wu), Arada (Tattiawna Jones), and Bharadwaj (Tamara Podemski) all pitching in to make the case for their claim to it. However, the damage was already done — when Ratthi (Akshay Khanna) saw “SecUnit” out and about, it was fully unaware of their shared history and followed orders to pull a weapon on him right then and there. Mensah didn’t want to give up, though; she refused to believe the data had been completely erased. That proved to be somewhat...

HGTV’s Keith Bynum Makes Surprising Statement About ‘Bargain Block’ Ending
Image
Keith Bynum was shocked when he learned that HGTV wasn’t renewing his home renovation show, Bargain Block, last month, but having had a month to reflect, he now says he’s “really looking forward” to it ending. The HGTV fan favorite, who hosts the Detroit-based Bargain Block with his partner Evan Thomas and local real estate expert Shea Hicks-Whitfield, took to his Instagram Stories on Thursday (July 10) to answer fan questions. When one fan asked what he’s looking forward to in 2025, Bynum responded, “This is kind of strange, but one thing I’m really looking forward to is the last episode of Bargain Block airing. It’ll be a lot of emotions that day, but it’ll also be officially the turn of a new page. And I think Evan and me and Shea are ready for it. But the next page is going to be quite fun.

Fox News’ Jesse Watters Mercilessly Mocked Over His Latest ‘Rule For Men’
Image
Fox News host Jesse Watters considers himself a beacon of masculinity and, from time to time, enjoys sharing his “rules for men,” the latest of which earned quite a reaction on social media. On Wednesday’s (July 9) edition of The Five, Watters and his co-hosts discussed a photo shared by House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-n.Y.). The image, which has since been deleted, appeared to have been altered using editing software as the bench in the background was warped around Jeffries’ hips. “Rules for men: A man should never Photoshop his picture. Ever!” Watters said. “A man who Photoshops his picture is a woman. And you never shrink your hips. Why is he shrinking his hips? Does he have childbearing hips? What is it about his hips that he’s uncomfortable with? That’s the question.” When asked by co-host Harold Ford Jr. if he’s ever edited a photo of himself,...

Stellan Skarsgard Talks About ‘Nazi’ Ingmar Bergman: ‘He Was the Only Person I Know Who Cried When Hitler Died’
Image
Stellan Skarsgård opened up about working with Ingmar Bergman at Karlovy Vary Film Festival.

“My complicated relationship with Bergman has to do with him not being a very nice guy. He was a nice director, but you can still denounce a person as an asshole. Caravaggio was probably an asshole as well, but he did great paintings,” said the Swedish actor.

“Bergman was manipulative. He was a Nazi during the war and the only person I know who cried when Hitler died. We kept excusing him, but I have a feeling he had a very weird outlook on other people.

‘The Pitt’: What Tracy Ifeachor’s Exit Means for Collins, Robby & Season 2
Image
Well, we know at least one doctor from The Pitt who won’t be on shift for the Fourth of July weekend that will be covered in Season 2. Tracy Ifeachor, who played Dr. Collins and was last seen in Season 1 Episode 11, will not be back. Given the show’s real-time format, with each episode covering one hour of each season’s one shift, her absence should be easy to explain and doesn’t even mean that she won’t still be on staff at the hospital. But what it does mean is a change on The Pitt. Not only will we not be seeing Collins, but this also (seemingly) eliminates the possibility of her and Robby (Noah Wyle) getting back together; the first season revealed just enough about their past to give us an idea of what their relationship was like. It also makes us curious about what we could...

‘Dexter: Resurrection’ Cast Talks Premiere, Dead Serial Killers and a New Dark Passenger
Image
[Warning: The following post contains Major spoilers for Dexter: Resurrection Episodes 1 and 2.] Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) is back. The first two episodes of Dexter: Resurrection have premiered, and, as showrunner Clyde Phillips told us ahead of Dexter: Original Sin‘s debut last fall, the serial killer of serial killers narrowly survived being shot by his own son, Harrison (Jack Alcott), thanks to the freezing outdoors slowing his body from bleeding out. Here’s a look at everything that happened, along with some exclusive quotes from the cast! “A Beating Heart” The first episode of the new series picks up right where Dexter: New Blood left off as local doctors race to save his life. It then flashes forward 10 weeks to Dexter, still in a coma, experiencing dream visits from some of the biggest rivals of his past. First, it’s Arthur Mitchell a.k.a. The Trinity Killer (John Lithgow), who taunts him about also having a...

‘Dexter: Resurrection’ Premiere Spoilers: How Is Dexter Alive?
Image
Spoiler Alert: This article contains spoilers for “A Beating Heart…,” the series premiere of “Dexter: Resurrection,” now streaming on Paramount+.

When “Dexter: Resurrection” was announced during last year’s San Diego Comic-Con, we sat down with Michael C. Hall to ask one main question: How?

During “Dexter: New Blood” in 2022, the finale saw the serial killer bleeding out in the freezing cold after being shot by his son. At that time, showrunner Clyde Phillips confirmed that “Dexter is dead.” But apparently, he was just kidding!

“It’s really cold out there,” Hall told Variety at the time, hinting at how...

Where Is Julie Chen Moonves? Inside ‘Big Brother’ Season 27’s Missing Host and HoH Relic Competition
Image
[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for the premiere of Big Brother Season 27.] Who turned out the lights?! Soon after the first four houseguests entered the house, the camera zoomed in on a mysterious digital clock, which was counting down from 10 as the contestants poured in. It wasn’t until Julie Chen Moonves came on the screen in the living room during the final minute that any of the contestants noticed something was awry. Cue: a sudden blackout and a missing host. After the 16 houseguests entered the house during the Big Brother Season 27 premiere, they were instantly hit with Big Brother: A Summer of Mystery‘s first major twist: the shocking disappearance of Julie Chen Moonves. Or at least, that was what contestants were led to believe as they watched the host’s warning to “expect the unexpected” get cut short by a sudden loss of power. When the lights turned back on, Moonves was gone—along with the season’...

Bash (Hamza Haq), Theo (Jim Watson), and June (Ayisha Issa) all attend Mags’ funeral in Montreal, with two of the three struggling the most. Mags’ mother wonders why Bash didn’t call them and argues Mags shouldn’t have been working when she was sick (rejecting her heart transplant). Also in attendance are Claire (Torri Higginson) and Bishop (John Hannah returns!), and after the service, Bash’s former boss finds him. Bishop tells him not to blame himself, knowing how he feels about not saving his parents, and reminds him that he’s only alive because of him. Bash feels he didn’t deserve Mags, and Bishop comforts him before driving him back to York Memorial and encouraging him not to let this derail him. “I was so excited to bring back Dr.

‘Jeopardy!’ Champ Scott Riccardi Final Question Drama: Did He Survive?
Image
On the Thursday July 10 Jeopardy!, the game was filled with twists and turns that put the reigning champ in a position he hadn’t faced before. In an episode marked by lively banter, spontaneous poetry, and surprising upsets, the competition took on a whole new level of unpredictability, keeping viewers guessing until the very end. Challengers for Thursday’s episode included Jolynda Chenicek, a teacher from Tallahassee, Florida, and Austin Hobbs, a library specialist from San Angelo, Texas. Both were hoping to dethrone the current reigning champ, Scott Riccardi, an engineer from Somerville, New Jersey, whose five-day cash winnings totaled a jaw-dropping $144,902. On Wednesday, Riccardi nabbed his fifth win, and in doing so, he became one of the eight official qualifiers in the Tournament of Champions. After a strong start that began with a back-and-forth between Riccardi and Chenicek, the Jeopardy! champ landed the Daily Double in the category of “Montana” for $800. Riccardi,...

Wisconsin Just Passed New Tax Credits for Film and TV with Bipartisan Support — Read That Again
Image
While Trump has flirted with imposing a 100 percent tariff on movies made outside the United States, Wisconsin is welcoming the industry with hope and energy. A new bipartisan budget from the Badger State — which tipped red in the last presidential race — will ramp up Wisconsin’s film and TV game.

Last week, local legislators made plans to re-establish the state’s film office, which went dark in 2005. They also approved $5 million in annual tax credits, with a $1 million cap per project, for productions made in Wisconsin. Democrats started winning again during state elections this spring, but securing new arts funding from the government in 2025 is a political miracle almost anywhere in the country.

“A lot of these states are getting these credit programs,” said Nathan Deming, a filmmaker and volunteer for the film coalition, Action! Wisconsin. He advocated in front of the state’s Ways and Means committee earlier this...

Meg Stalter and Will Sharpe Reinvent the Rom-Com in Too Much
Image
Too Much, Lena Dunham’s return to television, has all the delicious trappings of a glossy early-2000s rom-com: the broken-hearted girl who moves to a new city in search of a fresh start, the car-chase grand romantic gesture, the idiosyncratic best friends offering misguided advice.

Yet just as quickly as Too Muchnestles into a long-standing canon, it flips the well-worn tropes on their head. Soon after Jessica (Megan Stalter) touches down in London, she meets Felix (Will Sharpe) in a filthy pub bathroom, and from there, nothing goes as expected. Within only hours of their meet-cute, Felix takes Jess to the hospital after she accidentally lights herself on fire while threatening her ex’s new girlfriend, Wendy Jones (Emily Ratajkowski), about a secret Instagram diary. They left that part out of the classic flicks from which each episode takes its name — among them, “Enough, Actually,” “Notting Kill,” and “Pity Woman.
