Brand Spanking New! Doug

When I first heard about a new series of "Doug" I was thrilled since I loved "Old Doug". After I saw the first episode I thought it was really good. It wasn't as good as the NICK series but it was still pretty good. I liked the 12 1/2 year old Doug (he got cuter) and Doug being in middle school. I didn't have a problem with this new series tho many people said it wasn't very good and that Disney destroyed it. I liked the fact that Doug got older and more mature since I and many other viewers also got older and more mature.

My favorite "New Doug" episodes are "Doug's Dream House" and "Doug on the Road". They're both really funny and entertaining.

I wish this series wasn't canceled since I really loved it. But maybe one day they will make a new "Doug" series about him in High School. I give "New Doug" 10/10 stars.

This cartoon is a continuation from the fan favorite Doug from the 90s. Only difference is it's produced by Disney and not Nick.

Takes place a year after the events in the first series. Where Doug and his friends enter Junior High. With a load of changes that give Bluffington a total twist. We see some familiar faces along with Doug, as well as some new ones. Not to mention the usual lifestyle, problems, and activities involved in each episode like the in the previous series.

Designed, and animated by the same company: Jumbo. Voiced by the same actors except for Billy West who didn't want to be part of it. Same multi color characters. But it all feels entirely different from the cartoon I knew from the early 90s.

A lot of other fans don't compare this to being equal to the original. Which I agree too, as the Disney Doug contains no charm or brilliants what-so-ever. most of the episodes are good to watch, but like 3/4's of them are very uninteresting, out of character, misleading, poorly written, as well as unoriginal.

You might ask why in the word a great cartoon like Doug could receive a less-worthy sequel. For me it could either be A. There's no Honker Burger(which was bought out in this series under the name of the cheesy French restaurant), B. Doug involved in rather stupid situations than before, C. Adding Dirtbike as the new member of the Funny family rather pointless, or D. Having the whole series under the name of Disney.

Whatever the real reason is, Disney's Doug fails to be a fan favorite for most of the other Doug fans. I'm perfectly fine watching the original countless times as I find that one more appealing than this. If you hate this second series, then stay away from the movie. When I first heard that a new "Doug" was going to be aired on T.V., I knew that I would be in for trouble. What made the situation even worse, is that Disney is now running things. So much for good old Doug, I thought. I tried to put off watching this show for as long as could, but I found the temptation to finally view it in its entirety. To my surprise, it is definitely not as stupid as I thought it would be. Sure, some of the voices are different, but I'm not holding that against it. The setting is different too, now that Doug is in middle school. They are now going through many of the things teenagers go through too. It seems that Doug's interest in Patty Mayonnaise has been amplified x10, Skeeter is acting normal, Roger is no longer the jerk he used to be, Chalky has become too much of a jock, and Beebe is turning into a real snob. But of course, they've aged since the show was in its prime so one could expect some change.

The biggest problem "Brand Spanking New! Doug" suffers from is that it's just gotten too kiddish. People who liked the original "Doug" cartoons may be disappointed if they watch this show because it just may no longer be suited for them.

All in all, I given "Brand Spanking New! Doug" a 2 1/2 out of 5.

To be fair this review should be titled "There is no real or valid difference between Old and New Doug to jump to the conclusion that the older version was superior." But that is way too long of a title.

First, the obvious differences between the shows, just to be fair to those 90's kids with some valid points. Nick's theme song was and will be more catchy, but honestly I'm not watching the show for the theme song. Doug's little sister, Cleopetra Dirtbike Funnie, is a pointless character, and usually baby character in shows are the worst. People complain about the redesign of characters...honestly it's not as drastic as people like to make it out to be, the only exception being Patti, but honestly I like her redesign. Maybe it was me, but I always thought Patti's hair from the Nick series looked like a yellow blob compared to Disney's which actually looks like hair. The Beets breaking up...honestly, I don't care for them, but If others liked the songs than who am I to judge. The Honker Burger not being there...It's a ___location guys...are we really steeping that low just to find complaints? As for the Disney episodes being 30 min compared to 10, that is definitely better.

Honestly, the heart of the show is still the same in both. The "Lack of spirit" argument is kind of bogus. Really I think 90's kids complain about the two because it isn't the exact same...honestly, overlook those small differences, it's like the show never got rebooted but simply had another season.

Brand Spanking New Doug is just plain stupid, and i hate it how disney just got their grubby hands on the great Nicktoon Doug, and mangled it into a lousy, horrible excuse of saturday morning television! I mean let's face it: Some of the things that were there on "Doug" (like the honker burger) cease to be on the old show. Roger's rich, i mean what's up with that? He's trailer trash on the original(and more better) show, but then, he's a snob on the disgrace show! Let's face it: Nick should have renewed it WAY befor Disney took it off their hands. And besides, Nick would have made it better! Well, maybe a little better. But way better than what disney whipped up! But the bottom line is that disney proved with this show that you can sink much lower to the brimey deep with a cartoon like this, and that is a fact jack!
